Johnny Cash was someone we cannot do without now. Especially with all the new artists nowadays , especially one who will not be named , for singing with a high pitch for a boy. 16 yrs of age.
I love that song for a tribute to the deceased. I don't particularly like the really loud rock songs they play when profiling the deceased stars. As far as I am concerned, it isn't right or fitting to do that.
@xxxSelenagomezfanxx : Selena, why would ANYONE cry over a former truck driver? You certainly wouldn't if he had stayed one. Peck specialized in playing EDUCATED Americans in movies. In real life, he came from a blue-collared, semi-illiterate, terribly uneducated background. In other words: lower class rabble! But he got some sort of education which was the only way out for him. RIP, though. (31-12-2010).
Gregory Peck, a great acor a great man a great looking too, i wasnt even eight years old when he died, i never had the chance to say to him 'mr peck, your one helluva a guy and still my teenage crush'
Its from early in Singing in the Rain...either before or after the premiere....my only complaint is that not showing Donald O'Connor dancing is kind of a waste
TCM's tributes are way better than the Oscar ones! I noticed that in another version of this tribute on youtube the part with Hope Lange is totally cut out! So glad to see her included in this one! We lost so many great ones that year.
I love this TCM tribute. So well done. As someone else said, more time given on each individual talent than the Oscars usually present. Thank you for sharing.
This looks like it's from TCM. The Oscars never take so much time or remember so many people. I remember this year, they actually did a separate tribute to Kate Hepburn. This one is very complete. I think the only one they missed is Jonathan Brandis (but just about everyone forgot him). :(
omg evry time hepburn comes up @the end it makes me want 2 cry.on the whole tho wot a list. it seems like old hollywood finally ended in 2003.But my god wot alegacy. nowadays u jus hav 2 slip in a DVD and there they all r the likes of:vivien leigh, cary grant, marilyn monroe, james dean, judy garland, marlene dietrich, clark gable, montgomery clift, fred astaire, jimmy stuart and the late gr8 Katherine Hepburn in all their dazzling b/w an 'technicolor' glory as if they havnt left us and neva will.
Looking through this memorial, I think TCM did a fantastic job paying tribute to one of the darkest years of Hollywood in terms of celebrity deaths.
With that said, i'm disappointed that TCM left out two actors (both of whom died prematurely): child and teen actor Jonathan Brandis and superlative cinema actor Alan Bates.
2003 was one of the darker years for America. We were still experiencing the lingering effects of a recession. We went to war with Iraq. And the year marked the passing of so many notable celebrities, among them: Katherine Hepburn Bob Hope Gregory Peck Charles Bronson John Ritter Johnny Cash Richard Crenna Hume Cronyn Barry White Gregory hines Celia Cruz
True, but they lived full lives. Hepburn was 96, Peck 87 and Hope was a whopping 100.Talented Gregory Hines was only 57 and actor David Hemmings was only 60, and John Ritter was 54. Very sad because they should still be here.

No you didn't. The Oscar's did a different recognition for Kate Hepburn and Gregory Peck. They also didn't recognize nearly as many people. TCM always seems to do a better job.
i was good, until you put in Katharine saying, "Kiss me goodbye". then I lost it. such wonderful talent, I can't believe that it has been 5 years. I can still remember where I was when I heard about Kate and Gregory passing on.
