Yes we are all still learning until the end of our days...but.......some people simply are able to gain leaps and bounds along the way. Well the scale is D phrygian dominant used in many styles, even heavy metal and such. I guess it's time signature (9/8) that makes it sound arabic to your ears. ;)

Actually I do think it's the phrygian dominant due to the small third interval you get between the second and the the third. (minor second -> major third). It produces kind of an "arabic" sound. :)

Correction, interval between 2nd and 3rd degree in Phrigian Dominant

is augmented second, not major third eventho it sounds the same. ;)

Btw, there are "real" arabic scales made of mekams (1/4 tones and such)

which split an octave into 17 tones and more,

now that really sound arabic, Phrigian Dominant is more like YJM to my ears. :D
