see we have a junior program not explorer. i can do everything a firefighter does. im already ff2. so im an interior firefighter at the age of 16. i like it a lot better
@43firerescue i have all the classes for it but the state wont certify me untill im 18 and out of high school it sucks. my dept lets me go in fires but if thers noone else there. then when mutual aid comes, im done. sucks but at least i get my foot in the door
@Richard19706 In the company I'm in the "expolores" are typically junior members ( 16 to 17 year olds) or probationary members who just got in to the company and have not completed required classes yet. Therefore they can not do what other members are allowed to do. This may vary from state to state or company to company.
@Richard19706 - You are allowed to ride along with the firefighters after basic training. You are only allowed to do exterior operations or what the company officer deems safe. Explorers are not firefighters so it would be a liability to allow them to do everything a firefighter has been trained to do.

so when your a explore, are you able to do everything a fire fighter does or are you only allowed so much?
