@foolioay Drilling was done in shallow waters for years and in the process the "natural" sand barriers which absorb water from hurricanes and prevent flooding were destroyed by the oil companies which made the flooding from hurricane Katrina all the more devastating. You can rest easy now because they are planning to drill in the state of Wyoming and destroy more land and the president has lifted the ban on offshore drilling just in time for the November elections. We are a civilization that is extremely dependent on oil. We may be trying to find alternative sourses for energy but nothing can come close to the energy produced by oil (unless we go nuclear). So the fact is we have to keep drilling for oil right now. Americans demand oil so someone has to supply it. The oil companies are corporatoins so of course they're going to try to make a profit. Rush is talking about how there are much safer places to drill except that environmentalists like sierra club keep stopping the drilling in the safer places so they have to move to more risky drilling. And as a result of higher risk it is essentially the fault of the people that wouldn't allow the safer drilling. They essentially caused the problem to happen because they were the reason that the risk was so high. But he's right. The oil company is where it was because of environmentalists.
The sad thing is, Rush could actually be right about this. I believe that there is a chance this oil still was perpetrated by a group of people. Who that group is the golden question, but it IS possible.
They were not FORCED to drill in deep waters. Most of the gulf is relatively shallow and open for drilling. They just thought they would get a bigger payout from the deeper well and were willing to risk the environment to get it.

If those "evil corporations" didn't have to drill so far offshore - then when an oil spill of this magnitude occurs, it wouldn't be so hard to clean up. But, since drilling HAS to occur "at least" 1 mile off the shore, because of demands from groups like Sierra Club, it creates just this catastrophe, where clean-up is impossible. Wake up!

@foolioay Drilling was done in shallow waters for years and in the process the "natural" sand barriers which absorb water from hurricanes and prevent flooding were destroyed by the oil companies which made the flooding from hurricane Katrina all the more devastating. You can rest easy now because they are planning to drill in the state of Wyoming and destroy more land and the president has lifted the ban on offshore drilling just in time for the November elections. We are a civilization that is extremely dependent on oil. We may be trying to find alternative sourses for energy but nothing can come close to the energy produced by oil (unless we go nuclear). So the fact is we have to keep drilling for oil right now. Americans demand oil so someone has to supply it. The oil companies are corporatoins so of course they're going to try to make a profit. Rush is talking about how there are much safer places to drill except that environmentalists like sierra club keep stopping the drilling in the safer places so they have to move to more risky drilling. And as a result of higher risk it is essentially the fault of the people that wouldn't allow the safer drilling. They essentially caused the problem to happen because they were the reason that the risk was so high. But he's right. The oil company is where it was because of environmentalists.

They were not FORCED to drill in deep waters. Most of the gulf is relatively shallow and open for drilling. They just thought they would get a bigger payout from the deeper well and were willing to risk the environment to get it.

Please don't try harder to figure out what Limbaugh is talking about - your brain might explode! Are you dense on purpose? Did you even listen to what he said? If those "evil corporations" didn't have to drill so far offshore - then when an oil spill of this magnitude occurs, it wouldn't be so hard to clean up. But, since drilling HAS to occur "at least" 1 mile off the shore, because of demands from groups like Sierra Club, it creates just this catastrophe, where clean-up is impossible. Wake up!
