We cling on to nuclear weapons to make ourselves feel powerful. Tell me, why in a recession are my taxes paying for genocide weapons that we cant use without American oversight and go ahead? Surely the USA has enough of its own. And tell me, if they are a deterrent why do we have enough to kill well over 300,000,000 people?
The Nukes aint just laying there in the back of those trailors there in special containers that are pretty much indestructable. They are not live, detonators will be fitted at Faslane only when it is due to be attached to a Submarine. The convoy is safer than petrol tanker going up the M1. All these anti-war idiots need to remember who will save them in if we came under attack.
The warheads are transported with detonators installed. Detonators can only be fitted inside the Gravel Gerties at Burghfield.
The AWG 516 containers are tested against IAEA regulations, but these regulations were not intended to be used to justify the safe transport of nuclear weapons.
The MoD's safety case acknowledges that one of the greatest risks is a collision between a fuel tanker and nuclear weapons transporter.
