@Tones4me1 That's the same 1962 Höfner he's used and owned since 1963. His first 1961 'Cavern' or 'Revolution' 500/1 was stolen. This is, as far as I know, the only Höfner he uses. He might have one or two newer ones though.
Two days after this show my man Ringo came to my hometown for his own show. I don't think I ever sat down, stopped singing or clapping......though of course, I'd seen him lots of times before...including the Hollywood Bowl, 1965! Ringo looks and sounds splendid. 70 never looked better. ; )
I would pay ANYTHING to have been where you were. Even time off my life, lol. Really, lucky people there and lucky us for having lucky people uploading things for us, the unlucky, to see.
@Tones4me1 Paul's first Hofner was stolen around the time of "Let It Be". This could be his second one, but it looks like possibly the other bass player runs him down at the end of this video as if to say "He Paul! Come back with MY bass!" Or, maybe not...
@stratman123 no, the man running after Paul is Paul's longtime friend and 'Roadie/personal assistant' John Hammel. the other bass player in Ringo's band does not play a Hoffner if u looks at videos of other songs from that concert. It's Paul's bass. and its the one he's had since the Ed Sullivan Show as his first one got stolen before then but also he was given a newer model by Hofner company so it could be that one
@Tones4me1 From what I understand, the whole performance was a surprise to Ringo, so he wasn't expecting to go back out to play. He'd probably thrown his sticks out to the crowd earlier, but when Paul started playing, he probably thought "I'm not gonna miss this!"
I heard about this on the radio, you got footage of an amazing occurrence. I envy you with all my heart & im glad that this happened and you so happened to be there.
You must have been THRILLED!!!

Someone robbed Paul of his bass and took off with it....lol Where is security when you need them? Eating nacho chips at their post or asleep.

Is that the same Hoffner bass that Paul always played?

Epic moment. They hadn't played that together in over 40 years! It very well could be the musical moment of the decade! Wow!

Did Ringo drop his stick? Lucky you for being at this concert!!
Tones4me1 1 year ago
@Tones4me1 No, Ringo didn't have any sticks when he came running out. Someone handed him a pair.
stratman123 1 year ago
@stratman123 How funny...get to the drum kit without sticks. He must have thought they were there already. That's a rookie mistake. LOL
Great to see these guys on stage again! I have only known two people who saw them perform live.

Wow, two Beatles playing that song. Do you realize that the Beatles hadn't played that number since they recorded it back in 1968.
