Good video! One piece of advice: get a better grip. I had that same forward grip and after shooting 2 clips, I couldn't even hold it anymore! If you shoot slowly, it's not that bad, but for tactical shooting, definetly look for a better grip!
@chanderson1 Great video. I have the same foregrip, I took it off but when I put it back on the gas tube cants upward and my gas piston will not operate at all.
@BlargeMan you'll need to remove the front plate that's holding the lower portion of the grip. You need to look for a lever that is similar to the one used to remove the gas tube. This will allow the front plate to slide forward allowing you to remove the lower part of the front grip.
Thank you. Great video !! Can the same after market butt stock, forgrips and other add on's be installed on th AK-74 ?? It looks very much the same...
Hi,ThanksGreat vid--- Is That a Tapco Folder, Are They Any Good,I wanted To Get One,But I Keep Hearing Bad Things ,Also, Do you Have a vid About Installing A Folding Stock ?? Thanks Again
@tdawgee Hi, it was my experience that the folding stock from Tapco was not very solid and had a little wobble. I dont know if that was just on my gun or it is common, but it happened to me. Sorry I dont have a video of the stock installation because its really simple and requires you to remove and install two screws.
Man, thanks so much, I've been trying to figure this out for months. I didn't know the first latch comes up and now down. Hahaha. Oh well, new furniture here I come!
should i buy a foregrip? ive heard yes and know, i think it would be a bit more confertable but my buddy says to just hold the mag and keem the hand near the mag wield, he says fore grips make you aim down a bit and you want to get your hands closer anyway, im an amature and you probibly are not so an expert opinion would really help me out
Dude it's so hard getting this on my WASR 10-63 I gave up for now. The gas tube lever does not come down. Did anyone else have this issue? If so what was the remedy?
Thanks for tha vid very helpful. I have a norinco i couldnt take tha fourgrip off ! Thanks to you i know how now !!! Where can i purchase a after market grip?
Thank you so much. I bought a Kalashnikov licensed and trademarked $250 Ak47 AIMS (romanian style) airsoft gun, and I was surprised to see that this is EXACTLY how to disassemble it even on a airsoft gun.
@Mrpracticaltactical your welcome and I'm glad the video helped out. There may be slight differences due the the variants of AKs out there, but I think the basics are all covered. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
@chanderson1 It all came apart easily enough, however the front lower guard bracket needed to be pursuaded to move foward with a rubber mallet and plastic piece. Your plier trick to move the retaining tabs is brilliant and really helped to limit marking and damage to the levers. I had a yugo sks I loved, until that lever became loose and would cause the gas system to malfunction. Thanks again.
@Mrpracticaltactical good point on the lower gaurd bracket. I initially had a difficult time to remove the original also. thanks for the tip. appreciate the time you took to watch and comment!
@chanderson1 hey man i been lookin forever for a cleaning rod for my ak it didnt come with one where do you recommend to get one at and are they hard to put in i mean would i have to remove everything you just did in this vid to install it? i have the same ak as you with the same stock and the same handle and i put a recoil buffer in as well just always wanted one of those cleaning rods cuz the one i been using isnt really made for an ak plus the cleaning rod def helps the looks out imo thanks
@unleasheth its going to be difficult just to find a cleaning rod itself. I am sorry but I have no resources to be able to locate one for you. I would recommend a gun show that is probably your best bet to find just the cleaning rod for the rifle. As for install, its very simple. I am not sure though if there are different lengths for certain variants of the AK, but I would do some research before buying. Sorry I couldnt help you any further. Good luck and keep me posted on your search.
Very nice. I wish I would of watched this before I did mine. I finally exceded but it was not as easy as you showed. By the way I have that S.O.G. multi-tool also. It is a really nice tool and knife, it has allot of guts to it, very strong. Keep the videos coming. Thanks
How do you like that hand gaurd? I just shot my AK for the first time today, and it has these standard looking synthetic grips, and after firing about 50-60 rounds, my hand was getting burned, because the hand gaurd was so hot, is that a problem with those galil style grips?
Those handgaurds are the only thing I liked about my Tapco set hahaha. The are very sturdy except for the plate on top. I wish they would have designed it a little better. It works great and ventilates the weapon well, but that plate on top seems a little flimsy to me.
I have 6 handguards for my Saiga 7.62 conversion, and the Tapco Galil style is the only one I use anymore. It's the most comfortable, imo. Good taste, man!
Yes I agree with you. I like the look and feel of the Galil style handgaurd. I just didnt care for the folding stock too much. It was not stable and didnt feel too rigid. Thanks for the comment!
hahaha, yeah i was thinking about that but he said it was okay to mention him. I think thats why he went public again with the vids....mmm, now you got me thinking.

I have an AK-47 built on an Nodak Spud NDS-3 Receiver. Can I apply this process to it?
BlargeMan 6 months ago
@BlargeMan It should be very similar. Double check that you dont need to punch out some pins in the top handgaurd before twisting it off.
chanderson1 6 months ago
@chanderson1 I just did it, it came off and went back on fine, I just can't seem to figure out how to take off the bottom one.
BlargeMan 6 months ago
@BlargeMan you'll need to remove the front plate that's holding the lower portion of the grip. You need to look for a lever that is similar to the one used to remove the gas tube. This will allow the front plate to slide forward allowing you to remove the lower part of the front grip.

how do you get the wood off of gas tube ?????? i have a romanian im try to put a 4 rail on it but not sure how to get the wood off the gas tube
skylinedrake 10 months ago
@skylinedrake you basically follow the same instructions. The top wood grip needs to be rotated 180 degrees to be removed.
