This album is far too deep for a normal person to understand. I see what opeth did here. And its amazing. A true opeth fan would understand the amazing art that I'm just hearing just now.
@slayerslaytanic999 Bro (or Sis). I am not an Opeth fan, in fact I don't like their other effords. But this one, I dare to say, is fantastic. Rather than true Opeth fans, people with a couple ears for this kind of music (and message), would understand this. This is a great, great album. Lots of good progressive elements. And the lyrics are superb.
When I first listened to this album, I felt it was a dud; it seemed like a bunch of garbled notes and instrumentals put together experimentally, though I acknowledged that it might just be too eccentric for my liking. Now, after more listening and especially this song, I can see that the modest, subtle eeriness of Opeth remains between the lines. I acknowledge this album to be a masterwork of Mikael Akerfedlt's musical personality. Looking forward to the next.
I'm not a huge fan of metal, but I do respect the genre and why people like it. To me, this band isn't really selling out or anything, they're just experimenting. They said in a PRS interview that the next album could be anything, but they did acknowledge some fans disappointment. Personally, I like that they're being diverse and trying new sounds. They recorded this in Stockholm with a actually reverb room, with legit reverb, not digital or spring. I think it's great they did this. Keep it up.
@MrSkyche To add to my comment, I've always believed to be a good musician you have to spread out and play as many genres as possible. It's like trying to call yourself a linguist but only knowing one language.
Anybody else ever felt that very special feeling you get when you're woken up by the music you felt asleep to and then you're enjoying but at a certain point, more than ever ?
Heritage-9.5/10 maybe even a 10/10 I dont know. I can honestly say Im hooked, and have been listening non stop for 2 months. I love it 1000X more than I did 2 months ago too.

I hope Opeth do a Camel tribute for their next album.
Opeth once had a "Rahaydeger goes to town" cover on their webiste, and it was fantastic.
(Does anyone know where I can get that again?)
