I drove a beat-up 1980 Aspen (slant six) for years, sold it to a guy who restored it (it's probably still going strong). My 76 Aspen (rebuilt V8) hit 120 mi easy.
You cant kill those slant six's very easy. I owned a '79 volare with a slant six and drove it back & forth to work from 1991 to 2003 then got $1500 trade-in on my Z28!
I agree, that video only attests to the durability that Mopar has quite deservedly earned. Shows how cool Mopar really is...makes me want to go out and field test my car....but I know that it wouldn't survive as only a Mopar would. "Your" pretty brave Mopar man.
Thank you for your intellectual sentiment. However, just to clarify: at that point (1989) the Aspen had suffered 11 years of rust-belt weather and was literally falling apart. It was my winter car, as I drove my Dodge Challenger during the summer. And I continued to drive the Aspen during the winter months until 1991. And guess what, the slant 6 is still being used in a log-splitter to this day. So if anything, I proved the durability of Mother Mopar, you "stopid" dumb ass.
These Aspens were destin to be beaten like this ... I would like to see some air. If you look at the "Beating Mercury" Video ... you will see the real art and sheer control of a real thrasher!
