Looks like fun man! Where do you guy fish out of? All I'm doing right now is herring, salmon, and spot prawn fishing each season. Would like to learn to longline one day.
actually its probably more like a couple thousand, nerds like you trying to watch a video game on the internet. get a life. and if you found a video by accident then move on, you must really have a lot of time if you can waste it on such a useless comment.
nice work Rusty, i used your video for a presentation on what it like to be a commercial fisherman at a kids camp...the video is well done for sure. next time take the camera to the bar with Danny and you'll get some real good footage.
@rhymepays farmed fish produces more polution then could ever be imagined by the commercial boys. Take a look at the mountains of fish poo under farms in BC.
@viper3901 actually there are no mountains of "poo" down there. i'm not saying that fish farming doesn't contribute, but it's certainly a hell of a lot less than the pollution produced by farming cattle or pigs.
thanks for that comment finnyfin, I guess your pride is worth more than being efficient. to each their own. I longlined with snap gear before I ever used the autoline system, but you can't set 3 skates in 10 minutes with conventional gear or snap gear, that's for sure. besides it's not as easy as you think, where it's easier in some ways, it's harder in others.
nice clip.. a full checker.. K and L tabs.. nice!!...flatties and blackcod.. fuck i miss those days.... thats a nice autobaiter system ya got there.. love the horizontal sheave too.. when I worked conventional gear with an early autobaiter,, it was dangerous as fuck,,, vertical sheave and when ya hung up on the bottom.. the groundline jumps outta the sheave while yur stacking hooks,, not nice!! lost many a glove and a few pints of blood doin that..you guys got it goin on, keep em comin boys.
to clear all of you guys up, that was a skate that he twisted off (on purpose) although they are edible and most often used as fake scallops, we dont keep em. more room for halibut and blackcod. they are a close relative to stingrays though, only they aren't deadly.
I've been working the deck along side my old man for about five years now; slaying sable fish and halibut. The only difference is that were in SE and we run snap on gear.
I think I would rather work on a conventional boat, more hooks = more fish. =)
first of all, thats not a flounder that is a halibut. flounders do not get that big. and as for the blackcod at 1:50 i was just lifting it up to show the camera before heading it.
pretty good video i guess when i watched it drunk. who ever developed it doesnt know a damn thing about video production, just fuckin sloppy. music's garbage and whos that guy in the red hair-jesus.stick to fishing pal.
omg i feel sea sick from watching this
