  • fallout 3 was nice i like the lunch box it comes in and u get an art book

  • Please tell me you dont actually use that TV in the background

  • Small correction, halo 3 also comes with a master chief helmet, unless you arent talking about legendary

  • Absolutly agree with you about collecters edition's. I think the best collecters editions are the ones from BioShock 1 and 2 I have both and there awesome as well i saw the starcraft CE and its awesome too even though i dont play starcraft

  • But look at the bright side - you can just take a bottle cap from a beer or cola bottle, and it would make a great Fallout collectible! :D

  • @coolmyself Lol

  • You have a very valid point there! I agree with you. I don't much care for "Making of" DVDs, and pre-order content does not implement into the game correctly! Yjey just load you up with some stuff from the start. It's a pure cheat. You don't have to buy it, you don't have to find it, it just "magically" appears in your inventory and often has cheating specs. I don't like this!

So yes, I would much rather be collecting some collectibles from the game universe I like.

  • For fucks sake, really, are you kidding? A 5:46 minute rant about useless shit that had nothing to do with the game . You should research a game, and not be a lazy ass, before you blew extra money on a collectors edition, it's not that hard. You can look it up on Gamestop. If you insist on babbling on about your own opinions in a game description, at least warn people in the description. This video's description should have said "6 minute dumb-ass rant before fallout New Vegas unboxing."

  • @goonyman90 Thank you! The actual unboxing and description of contents doesn't take half the video time! This was a waste of my time by someone who felt the need to wine about his opinion, and couldn't find any other way to have people actually listen to him unless he threw in slight (read: barely any at all) information about a new game's collector's edition. He didn't even bother to read the comic before making the video! What the hell, I want my time back, sir.

  • I agree woth you about collector editions nowadays. I bought a Call of Duty 3 Collectors Edition fo PS2, and it gave me was the game, a DVD, AND a crappy black and white manual (wich I could have used as toilet paper). A GOOD example of a collectors edition is the Ys Seven Premium Edition ( or Limited, it doesn't matter). It co,mes with some awesome collecibles that may seem useless, but they add to the awesomeness of the Limeted Edition. I SAY WE HAVE A PETIRION AGAINST CRAPPY COLLECTOREDITIONS

  • @ThatRedMageDude Oh and P.S. Nice rant about retarded DLC that nobody likes.

  • Ha! At first glance those playing cards looks like a pack of cigarettes.

  • nice Collector's Editions:) you shod do a vid about you play card Collection:)

  • @TBornes Maybe one of these days I'll do that Bornes. I collect them from all different places I've traveled to.

  • but in halo reach they dont only give you that content in the collector edtion they also give you that huge model of all the noble team sooooo

  • Bioshock, Fallout 3, and GoW 3 had the best collector's editions

  • I think collector's editions are becoming something too usual. :/ I was also addicted to collector's editions 'till one day I started to think to myself "Why am I spending the extra money for something that I won't take of the box?". Nowadays I only buy CE from games that I LOVE (ex: Uncharted). I look over the Wii and PS2, and CE aren't that usual. The few that exist, are REALLY SPECIAL. Shadow of The Colossus is one of those and it hasn't nothing really special.

  • P.s. I hope you don't play fallout on the tv in the backround...lol

  • I agree I miss the good old days like when I pre-ordered pokemon ruby when I was 7 and got the little gold token with groudon on it and yes I know I spelled it wrong I don't have time to look it up. But about the in game content I kind of like it. But only if the game you bought comes with something you can physically touch as well thats collectible. But I really hate how retailers "fight" over who gets the best in game bonus content for instense Fable 3.

  • @Ravenprose Good point! Nintendo is great!

  • I wanted to watch this video a couple of days ago, but had to open my box up first....awesome video btw. I also don't get the whole....."suit of armor" gimmick if you pre-order, I mean who is going to rush to the store with close to a hundred bucks in hand.....for some leather armor.....

  • @DeathAdder83 Yeah, better to wait and see it first for yourself.

  • couldn't agree more, but you need to check out the dead space 2 CE because that's how its done, and it convinced me to purchase it day one.

  • And, to be fair, few collector's editions (which also go by "limited edition" and "special edition," it's all semantics Dinky, there's no actual claim that it's "collectible") contain ONLY in-game content. A few odd examples aside, most contain a combination of both.

Love ya bro, but I think it's silly to worry about it. The landscape of gaming has changed.

  • @tvandlust I wish it were just something silly to worry about, but incomplete games at launch are becoming more and more common. We are watching the landscaping of gaming change and there are plenty of problems that need pointed out.

  • @DlNKYDANA Well, I agree with you so far as patching. But I was referring to the video's subject specifically; DLC as LE content. :)

Think of it this way: As a collector, you want those physical goodies, but as a collector, what are going to do with them? If you're like me, you're going to toss them on a shelf and let them rot. The DLC, even if it seems like a cheap inclusion, at least gives you something you'll use, quality of the actual DLC not withstanding, of course.

  • @tvandlust I still think DLC as LE content is a bad idea. If it's paired with other real items then it's nice as an added bonus, but to only get that is not much incentive. You are paying 1/3 of the games' original price and you get a tiny in game bonus. I have yet to see any in game bonus (on release) even remotely worth $20. Might as well just put that $20 toward a new game. As pre-order bonus it is a little more tolerable but I'd still prefer my trinket. :)

  • @DlNKYDANA Yeah, I agree with that. The best LEs are composed of both physical trinkets to collect and digital goodies to play. Best of both worlds.

To be fair though, not many LEs offer only DLC. Those that do, like Fable II, are definitely lackluster.

  • For a lot of people, in-game content is not persuasive enough to purchase an LE or preorder, but it is for a lot of other people. These things help offset the cost of the game. These big blockbuster games, such as New Vegas, are not sustainable at $60 anymore, and these avenues are being explored as methods to ensure other sales and revenue. Otherwise, publishers would raise the cost of base games, and then everyone would be complaining about THAT.

  • @tvandlust I completely understand that in game content and DLC is required for these games to be sustainable, but it is by no means a license to release incomplete games. I should not bring home a brand new game riddled with glitches and require a patch immediately to fix a problem that should have been play tested and solved by release day. Fallout has glitches day 1, Castlevania has major problems, Halo Reach forces you to purchase map packs or renders entire portions of the game useless

  • @DlNKYDANA I agree completely, especially as it applies to broken/glitchy games. The patching infrastructure in modern gaming has become an invitation to release junk games to meet a particular window. I'm glad patching is around, for genuine mistakes, but the idea is definitely abused.

  • Completely agree regarding in game content/DLC as part of Collector's Editions. I don't like it because it feels like if I use those codes, then the CE is no longer actually collectable.

  • @Charassic Yup, not collectible at all!

  • i only have 3 collector edition games Fallout:3, Gears of War2 and the elder scrolls IV:Oblivion. i don't really like in-game content either if its a collectible i want a colletible item like with oblivion they give you a coin of the currency in the game, fallout 3 you get a lunchbox thats in the game and Gears2 you get a picture from the game

  • i personally love collectors editions.i collect them for anything.toys, artbooks, dvds, dlc and whatever.i have 12 collectors editions for now

  • hey I love the commercial for the fallout vegas it's the italian mob with the cigar and the puto in the bag with 100 grand from the casino cause the house always wins!

  • gamestop have all the infos about w/e edit

  • You make a good point about Collector's Editions Dinky. If you want some really good ones,I suggest Assassin's Creed,Assassin's Creed 2 and Bioshock 2.

  • you are dum because in game content is free also in the halo reach collecters edition was the best on the market it is just you have to pick the right collectors editions not tryin to mean at all just puttuin my opinon

  • well i hardly used the halo reachrecon helemt dlc i won a code so never used mine

  • i just need my game

  • I pass on 99% of collector editions. I made the mistake of getting the MW2 one and it was pointless.

  • dinky donut ftw!

  • Have to agree, collectors editions should contain physical collectors items.

Id be pretty pissed if my 2 guild wars collectors editions only had a dvd :P

  • The reason they make DLC is so that you think twice about selling your game to gamestop because you spent money on content that will be on your hard drive unless you delete it.

  • They could Have 2 collectors editions. DLC Edition and a real Collectors Edition. Best of both worlds then.

  • Now THAT's a real collector's edition! :) And yes, I totally agree with you. In-game content is ridiculous...why pre-order a game when the bonus is in-game content ...if you're pre-ordering it, you'll probably enjoy the game anyways so what is in-game content going to do? People are going to enjoy the game without it anyways.

    Great vid Dinky :D

  • I couldn't agree more. Charging extra for some useless downloads doesn't warrant a collectors edition by any stretch of the imagination. Sound tracks and art books are the way to go. Bioshock 2 is a great CE.

Fallout: New Vegas looks like an awesome CE. I only wish I could get into the series :0)

  • i will never pre-order a game just for extra DLC. However, if there is an art book, OST, or any other knick knacks then i'm sold.

  • I would much rather get a making of DVD than some useless art book or figure in a collector's edition. They are all a waste of money anyway.

  • Mmmmm, Vectrex <3

  • you will pay 80 for collectors edition but you low ball guy for vectrex for 5 dollars

joking nice vid I personally never buy the collectors edition but fallout Vegas definitely looks worth it.

  • Nice video, I only buy collector's edition for my most precious games (e.g. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood). Like your MGS4 one :-) And in-game content is definitely a scam, that's just ridiculous.

  • I agree with your analysis 100%.

  • meh, I think your missing the point on the dvd collectors edition, I love the extra features on the dvds. In game content on the other hand, is a scam. they just take something out of the game, and charge you extra for it.

  • being a broke college student, collector's editions are the last things on my mind. even buying games new on release date isn't my first choice.

  • I agree, an in game bat, or an in game machine gun will not sway me to purchase a collector's edition. I remember the days when they would at least give you a t-shirt for pre ordering.

  • I agree with you I hate in game contenet.I preorderd Red Dead Redemption on Amazon.com and got the "Golden Guns" add on (which makes all the guns in the game gold) and I never used it.It's still sitting in my game case!! I also hate DLC in the case of Bioshock 2 (Sinclair Solutions pack)where they give you drastically more powerful weopons in the multiplayer.

  • I only get a collector's edition if it's a highly anticipated game of mine. But other than that a CE is useless if it's like Fallout because I want the Fable 3 CE more becuase I played F2 a lot.

  • I also hate the 360 banner thing! And I think the green cases for the standard 360 games are ugly as well. I don't do collector editions. I need my space for games.

  • Personally I don't care about CE's to much, I find that the price difference is usually not worth it, with some exceptions where there are some really neat extra's on offer. In general though, I just buy the game to play and and don't care for extra stuff to much.

I agree with you that offering in-game content as an extra is pretty stupid. Especially since most of those special 'limited' bonuses become available a month after release as DLC anyway...

  • I completely agree with you about the collector's editions with in-game content. I hate game companies that mooch money off of people for that!

  • I love collector's edition, but I don't have the money to buy those :(

  • I haven't had any problems with collector's editions since my gaming tastes deter me from some of the really popular games. So I don't buy a lot of collector's editions very often. I am an anime video game player and collector, so some of the games i do buy come with collector items and I don't think I've been disappointed by any recent purchases.

  • I totally agree with you on the CE stuff, I like getting genuine collectible stuff like the journal in halo reach and I also hate in game content, to me it's just content that should have been put in the game anyway.

    Great Vid!

  • I look on the internet before I think of buting the collecter edition and some times I buy them when I fell like it or have the money.

  • weird about that MGS4 LE ... I got that bonus dvd .. I think there was a EU release that got some kind of figure.

One of the best values I've seen for a c.e. would be that bioshock 2 c.e.

  • also i'm totalyl jealous of that MGS4 LE you got... I wasn't into collecting at the time so I just got the standard edition lol. I was recently looking to track down a copy but got a bit confused by all the different editions I ended up finding.

LOL dude! I HATE the xbox360 green thing on the games and everything that has it! glad someone else feels that way!

I'd really like to meet the person who thought something green/yellow/white would be aesthetically pleasing... so i can kick him lol

  • i pre-ordered my c.e. for FONV but bestbuy didn't have any on release day lol... they're shipping in from another store and gave me the standard ed price :D

amen on the collectors edition bullshit man! The GOW3 ultimate ed was the breaking point for me and really made me take a closer look at collectors editions.

The problem with packing in those digital codes for stuff... is that it immediately renders it worthless since it's a once time code.

  • Blizzard always does excellent collectors edition, as well as Bethesda.

  • Well you are right about the term 'collector's edition' becoming more redundant in regards to the lack of extras and perhaps it is a cheap way of selling more copies by adding DLC.......but the extra DLC on 'Limited Edition' versions I feel represents much better value and it's good to be rewarded for your pre-order with extra 'free' maps or whatever it may be.

  • I don't care for Collectors Edition unless its a type of game I really like. The one collector game I like is PS3's version of Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe. It came with a small comic book the "bonus content", a nicely made box..plus the game itself. I think they could have easily made a nice mk medallion or something to add with it but I'm not too upset about it. I got it for $40 and the greatest hits version was $30..so it was much better to pay the $10 extra to avoid getting that ugly red box

  • I need the collectors edition of New Vegas too cuz I have the fallout 3 collectors edition.

Yeah sometimes the collectors editions is pretty weak.

  • I completely agree with your little 'rant' :O

I hate the idea of in-game content as an incentive to pre-order, absolutely hate it :[

  • I have never ever bought "collector edition" copies of anything, Im more of a Player than a Collector.

  • I usually don't pay the extra money for limited editions.. I only really buy games to play them :P I heard Fallout: New Vegas was full with bugs and glitches? have you encountered any major issues while playing the game?

  • Nice. I disagree with the idea of "in game" downloadable content too. It seems this Fallout deal is very nice. Great topic, thanks for bringing light to it.

  • Well i hate those collector editions, or buying games when they come out. Becouse few month later they release "super extra version" with all content you dont get with original game.

So screw dl content and collector editions.

  • um halo reach... you only get flaming helmet with legendary. if you know anything of video games you would know you get a fucking epic statue with legendary

  • Just a little side note there dana, the collectors edition of mgs4 granted early access to MGO plus along with the blue-ray it came with a cd with the ost.

  • i fucking hate in game content. i will buy gran turismo 5, but the in game content (extra cars) is not worth it for whatever they will be charging. it will not make me any faster as a driver on the track.

  • Every game is collectable...as a video game collector LOL!!

  • Im kinda on the broke side most of the time so I never get to buy the Pre Order games lol!

I too love the collectable stuff and hate that there doing away with that???

I would be really pissed with the Medal Gear 4,that sucks but Fallout kicked Ass!!

Thats how a Collectors Edition should be!

  • Absolutely cant wait to get this game. Possibly getting it tomorrow and will play all night. I would get the collectors edition but I need to save some extra cash for black ops. Tell me, is the game pretty straightforward in knowing what you have to do and where to go? Because I remember I would have to look up quite a bit of stuff for Fallout 3 while I was playing through.

  • With the MGS4 thing got what was in the box plus one more DVD and early access to the Beta testing of Metal Gear Online. So there was more to it. But you had to pick up the regular DVD and the download code before the game came out so you may have missed that?

  • I love the physical content that comes with Collectors Editions. Reach had a nice CE. It had some items, like Dr Halseys journal, that are important to Halo fans. CE like that, I enjoy. The New Vegas one is a good example of it as well. Also, I would prefer the physical content for preorders also. But I preorder everything anyways so that isn't as big of a deal.

  • I hate in-game incentives. I'd much rather have a physical bonus, like figures, art books, cards, etc.,...

That's actually a very neat looking collector's edition. I know the Wal-Mart I work at was offering a deck of playing cards if you bought F:NV at launch (though my store "lost" them); I wonder if they're the same deck that comes in the CE. I really need to start Fallout 3 though xD Great video, as usual!

  • yeah the extra content is so dumb i don't understand it either or when the soundtrack they give you is downloaded and not on a disc OH THAT ONE HURTS ME!

  • you talk to much :)

  • You are right, a book, some extra poker stuf and the box itself great collectors edition a must have for hard core fans. When we receive an extra dvd only with some extras it doesn't make it special it's garbage better to buy the game only.

    keep the good work

  • I really love the collector edition, but it is mostly on the comic books (if any), art books, soundtracks, and so extras. Sometimes I want to watch how they create the game, but most of the time that's when I am REALLY BORED. However, they shouldn't really base stuff on pre-order stuff and bonus in game items (unless it's really just a small help in the collector) CE to the game. I really wished it was like before like $10 more instead of 20 and several more heavy dollars for CE like $100.

  • Nice video here Dinky, I'm not one yet to get any of the new games as of yet but you make a great point when it comes to a collectible items when you do pre-orders. In game content... boring really, it doesn't make me want to get the game sooner.

I Also like how you incorporated that Vectrex in the background.... didn't take long and I know you're loving that system = )

  • I think they should call things with just DLC The Extra Edition or something along that line. The only game I am getting the Limited Edition for is LBP 2 because it comes with physical and downloadable stuff.

  • the DLC content is pointless and a money making scam...give me a keychain or artbook anyday

  • you gotta be quicker man DSP did a new vegas ce unboxing on tuesday

  • Christmas NiGHTS in the background!

  • Oh you're killing me here Dinky, I had this pre-ordered at Play N Trade and the day before it was released they phoned me and basicly said that they wouldn't be getting the collectors edition. I was SOOO pissed. They gave me the regular edition with the poker chips, Fallout 3 art book (wtf?), and Fallout 3 poster. :(

  • sweet looking extras with that,

  • I got a fever! And the only prescription is more collector editions! I agree with you about how lame the Fable 2 Limited Edition was. The Fable 2 Limited Edition was going to include fate cards and hobbe figure but those got taken out before the game released.

  • I pretty much feel the exact same way DD.

Even getting game T-Shirts for pre-order bonuses was better than in-game content to me.

I thought the MGS4 LE was a total rip & just got the regular one. I would sooner have a steelbook case over a bonus dvd any day. The Halo 3 Legendary Edition came with cool stuff but the Limited edition was a joke, as you mentioned.

I'll post a video response sometime with the LE games I've bought & explain my favorites.

Great video and cool edition of FOVegas

  • I think that God of War 3 and Bioshock 2 collector's edition were the best. A collector's edition with a figurine included is what a collector's should be and some art books n stuff. THUMPS UP if you agree!

  • I bought the normal copy of MGS4 a long time ago, but recently I went to Walmart I saw the MGS4 collector's edition for $20 bucks in the bargain game. I saw it and I was surprised so I snagged it cause there was 1 left. Then I saw a normal copy of MGS4 for $25 in the glass shelf which made me laugh!

  • A:fallout 3 sucked

    B:fallout New Vegas is AWESOME

C:i also love collectible stuff, i have the Bioshock 2 collectors edition but STILL haven't installed it

  • my comment on the rant is the zombrex edition of dead rising 2 it comes with some zombrex --' also i like in game content its cool it also helps with marketing and you get to pay a little bit off so thats why i like preordering and then making of people are interested in so you can buy your little figurines separate no offense.

  • the only collectors editions i get are ones that comes with collectibles and i hate when they just have an extra disc that talk bout stuff that i dont care bout but i do love when they come with extra stuff u can use in game as long as they are good and not stupid

i love collectors editions and before dead rising 2 came out i reserved so i can get the extra stuff and it was pretty cool and in november im getting splatter house reserved so i can get the collectible with it

  • From what I understand, the comic book you got there is stuff that happens before the game, so you should read it first.

As far as collectors editions go, a making of disc is something that must come with a collectors/limited edition for me to care at all. Art books with concept are are also a thing I love to see. Other things like little nick knacks are ok but not really huge for me.

As far as dlc goes, I think its just kinda sad when they put a few codes in to make it a collectors editon.

  • MGS4 Collector's edition was 69.99.

  • Awesome unboxing and rant! I agree, collectors editions should always have at least one cool collectible item in them I hate only getting dlc!. I did an unboxing for the collectors edition for the ps3 version, check it out if you got time. oh and you should read that comic first, its a prequel to the game.

  • It depends on what the in game content is. Some of it is good and some of it blows. The only specials editions I ever purchased were Halo 2 and Gears 1 and it was mostly because I had extra money and just decided to. Most of the time the stuff they include is just marked up junk that's no where near worth what they charge.

  • I dont believe DLC should be considered collectors edition, because for example look at sonic 4 it's Downloadable content only so if there was a collector's edition it could only only be downloadable, Unless sega or microsoft could mail a collectors edition but that wouldn't really work.

  • collectors edition are amazing, now adays they pack a tons of stuff like a remote control car....night vision goggles ...... a model car.... a sword...... back in day you got a key chain lol. i'm with you as well i would much rather have an item then DLC :)

  • now that is worth a collectors edition. nice vid DD

  • Cool pickup! Have you seen the new Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary Edition of the DSi XL and the Wii? Looks pretty cool. You get a free Mario Kart game with them. ;-)

  • man im still waiting for my collectors edition of fallout nv in the mail
