  • Its because it had a live wallpaper running. If you recall tegra 2 had an issue with this because it wasn't powerful enough to handle UI and a live wallpaper. Same problem with tegra 3.

  • Why does your Prime stutter so much in the menu? The Prime's in other reviews i watched had alot better performance (watch?v=wYBT9I0UmRE for example). Is that an old Android build maybe?

  • They are still selling the HP Touchpad, dont cry. You can pick one up new for $250 (32gb) at HHGREGG or just order from one of the many places selling it. Touchpad just got updated, and takes the cake once again!

  • Considering the fact that HP doesn't even sell the touchpad anymore there is no real reason to compare. The ASUS Transformer is the way to go... better graphics and far better multitasking capabilities.

  • @Tristanmsnyder -- well the fact that a $100 tablet atleast comes close to a $500 tablet is worth comparing.

  • videos like this are a waste of time.. no explanation of what's going on

  • Continuation of my previous comment: Also you didn't point out what apps you had running in the background and whether the prime was running on power saver mode or not.

  • Wow rly? How is that even really fair. In the description you said the HP touchpad had 1.7 ghz dual core. That meant you overclocked it from 1.2 Ghz. Also the launcher and apps may not be well multi-threaded. Even Tegra 2 optimized 1.7 * 2 compared to 1.4 * 2 is a 0.6 Ghz difference. Also not at anytime did you prove you were actually using the HP touchpad and Asus Transformer Prime. Also you didn't point out what apps you had running in the background and whether the prime was running on power

  • HP destroys This tablet.

With the latest update an support for android dual boot an more updates coming.

It even beat the Ipad in certain tests if you check reviews on youtube.

I don't think people understand how good the HP is an going to be now it's a open source.

    Bought mine for £170.

Every other tablet on the market right now besides apple an samsung are irrelevant.

Stop crying that your prime sucks.

  • I really think you should explain why it's like this in the video. Give people some insight on what is going on.

  • Mm.. I dunno. Considering Android isn't even the native OS on the Touchpad, you butthurt Prime fans have to give credit to that.. I mean seriously.

  • lmao, wow a lot more cry babies than i was expecting to see. In this video the Touchpad (leftside) clearly wins, get over it.

  • I hate when people make moronic videos like this when they don't narrate their video or tell people what the different is between the two products and why one is better then the other.

  • The fact that someone took the time to even make this argument is absolutely ridiculous. The Prime blows away every tablet on the market, hands down. I love reading the comments of the idiots below, that have probably never even used the Prime. The Touch Pad does not even come close.

  • you should do a real comparison. load up a high profile 1080 p video file and see which tablet can play it. flipping through screens on a custom launcher to measure performance is comparable to predicting weather with a wet finger.

  • I want my 3 minutes back.

  • Retarded video. Sweet go launcher.

  • its because the go launcher and other apps arent fully compatible with honeycomb idiots. honeycomb was just a failure.

  • android = lag

  • I looked at your video, and honestly IMO netflix lagged just the same, it was not anywhere near as smooth and lagg free as it was on the touchpad (no im not a touchpad sales person).

  • look the prime is certainly not perfect but the video response I posted had several apps in the background and a live HD battery wallpaper and Netflix was much smoother than you represented it to be...so was the ui. I hadn't recently turned the tablet on either. I had been using it for quite some time. I was also a good 50ft from my router. please approve the response.

  • Lol @ the negs from the Prime owners that burned $500+ for a tablet that is no better than the $100 Touchpad. Yes, the Prime will eventually be optimized, but for now I'll save the $400 and wait for the next gen tabs to hit the market and still sell my Touchpad for purchase price.

  • Also according to setcpu the touchpad is only really using 1 core clocked at 1.7ghz... Interesting.

  • Battery on touchpad is good overclocked, id say about 6-7 hours normal use non-stop. and for me it lasts all day because i use it a little throughout the day.

  • Looks like a defective device from here. Also, the extra two cores on the prime don't kick in for netflix and swiping between an app drawer. Considering you're running the devices at different clock speeds and you're running a custom ROM on one and not the other... the test is somewhat null.

  • and what about clocking the Prime @ 1.7 Ghz?

  • @kunddizzles the touchpad use one core 1.7 ghz including setcpu and antutu but the prime use quad cores 1.4ghz ;)

  • how is the battery on the touchpad clocked @ 1.7ghz?

  • @kunddizzles. awesome

  • The Asus Transformer Prime is meh...I'd go with the touchpad and save my money for the iPad 3 or more capable Tegra 3/Samsung SoC tablets.

  • To test the stock laggyness on the Prime just download Netflix and try scrolling around the movies like I did in the video, if it runs buttery smooth for you like the Touchpad did then by all means post a video...

  • @jzenism well I posted a video response. are you going to approve it? thanks.

  • Running GO Launcher EX on both devices. Im not saying anything, but i think the video speaks for its self.

Yes im sure later down the road prime will get patched up and start working as intended, but I am just surprised at how rushed it was. I think I'm deciding to keep both devices... Touchpad for development and Prime for gaming.

  • What launcher are you using on each device?

  • ive tried it. ive been using mine since last wednesday. it doesnt look anything like what yours does in that video. im not sure why you would think the touchpad is superior in any category other than price. if you are happy with the touchpad that is awesome. you should ditch the prime and carry on. trying to make the case that it is superior is silly at best. i suggest waiting until CM is avail for the prime and then run the comparison.

  • @Serial0I0 don't forget that the prime has diff settings, where you can turn off cores and only use a single if u want, hes probably on a lower performance setting, mine is way smoother then the one in this video

  • @Theking196 Mine runs smooth no matter what is running. I love reading these morons comments justifying their purchases of the obsolete Touch Pad.

  • No apps were running in the background on both devices. On the touchpad I am running CM7 Xron-ified 2.8 by leoisright.

IMO Touchpad even though its suppose to be inferior is making the prime look inferior... Not sure whats up with the prime but its just not preforming. I even ran it with the normal honeycomb launcher with the live wallpaper running and it was just as choppy.

    Try it for yourself.

  • What Rom are you running on each device? The prime I have is not displaying any of the issues you seem to be experiencing. The Touchpad is an inferior device on every respect except the ability to load custom ROMs which I assume will be available at some point on the TFP. I vote Prime on every front. Did you have a lot of apps running in the background to make the prime lag like that? I really haven't experienced that even with apps running.
