My dad also went through dementia and passed away last year. Your dad seemed very nice, and well accomplished. Nothing worse than losing the memory of all you did for others and also for yourself. At least we know our dads are at peace now, but I know how hard it must have been, Thanks for posting this.
@LuckyIzzy659 It's quite normal for people with Dementia to be able to remember things from the past. ( for example, where they lived, what the job was. That sort of thing) And usually epeople would be unable to remember things that happened recently.
Thanks for sharing, I'm getting myself ready to deal with my dads illness and this was good to see and witness your love and compassion for your father.
RIP to your dadxx just been told my mother in law has the early stages of alzeimers, can you tell me how long your father had it for before he died...many thanks
@actonfarrell, He had Alzheimer's for about 4 years before he died, but the Dr. told us physically he was healthy and possibly he could last for 10 years. He actually ended up getting skin cancer on the top of his head and had surgery to remove it. All was fine but he got infected and had a high fever. He died one week later. It was a blessing in disguise. I hate to see anyone suffer from Alzheimer's. Especially your loved ones. Thanks for your comment!
Thanks so much! It sure is so sad. He never dug spuds in Idaho. He was a television editor in Hollywood. So weird how the brain works. It was hard to watch him go down like that. But he has passed away and now free. We sure miss him!
Thanks for sharing this video --why can't they find a cure for this disease (it has to do with inflammation of the brain) and once it is triggered they can't stop it. i am only 44 and I have been told that I am going to come down with this disease- I take EGCG and eat correctly, but STRESS/MAJOR DEPRESSION caused this in me! I am Scared=it ages your body fast!
