  • Cure does cure ..just listen

  • I love that Robert's wearing big baggy hot pink pants/trousers LOL

  • Maravilloso

  • They broke ground for new wave - and continued to their roots of being underground for a long time - they where one of a few acts at that time period that paved the way for the grunge movements - Pixies, PJ Harvey, Sonic Youth, etc...

So as far as them being them as ahead of the curve a BIG yes.

  • Est-ce Robert qui tient sa guitare ou bien est-ce sa guitare qui le retient ???

Who hold who ? Robert or his guitar ? ;-)

  • @Poll4Life: Exactly my thoughts!

  • OK, this is too good for words. Too f*cking good.

  • Can someone help me with the lyrics?

  • they look so young n fresh lol little did they knew they where becoming something so BIG in the future

  • THIS IS FUCKING "A FOREST", MATE!

  • @LME0fficial: the music is "A forest" but the lyrics seem to come from "At Night" :)

  • @19disease85 you're right

  • @LME0fficial pf not true

  • I think not :-(

  • Is this the only copy of this version out there? Help us out, I can't find it anywhere..

  • Bas dużo lepszy niż w normalnej wersji, mogli taki zostawić.

    Gallup genialnie.

  • Bas dużo lepszy niż w normalnej wersji, mogli taki zostawić.

    Gallup genialnie.

  • @mareeka132 Jakoś tu ten bas jest bardziej stłumiony. Pomysł ciekawy ale jednak wolę oryginalną wersję :)

  • Nice Punky energy- I love the smile at the end, they know they've got a good one there. He wouldn't be allowed a grin like that once they went Goth!

  • I love this version! It's so raw and up tempo! :D

  • OMG!! Absolutely Brilliant ..

Thanks for sharing this outstanding performance.

    100*****/Fav

  • I've listen this song the first time at the Reading Festival '79 they did it in the encore and at that time it was called "do the hansa" if I'm not wrong.

  • nice to Rob playing the guitar....sweet stuff

  • Punk Rock!

  • This footage is amazing! Thanks for sharing it. Goes to show once more that simplicity and imagination is such a potent creative weapon.

  • i am speechless..........its spectacular

  • wait wheres robert smith?

  • @loco4real1 Dude, he's wearing the pink trousers man, PINK TROUSERS ROBERTH SMITH!

  • @ziggyhuys o shit, he looks so different. i guess i didnt recognize him b/c he looks so young

  • OMG! IT'S AWSOME

  • Probably still sounds 'fresh' because this is the first time many will have heard these lyrics sung to the thirty year old song. You know, I'm now not sure which version i prefer; might jut be because it's so interesting hearing how this song started. Really love the much busier bass running through this version mind; clever, clever.

  • I love it when he is in the process of working out the lyrics to an album.

  • This lyrics wow I LOVE IT !!! THANKS FOR POSTED =D

  • addictive

  • This is such a rockin song from my fav band!! The Cure is such a kick ass band !! They have been rockin for 30 years and their music still sounds fresh to this day! Robert has such a unique voice that just blends so perfectly with the sound and style of their music. Such an awesome and amazing band!! Rock on forever Cure!!

  • the title of this song is Into The Trees

  • @theclashmaster1991

no its at night tis is a special version off a forest !

  • monumental!

  • genial terrible, muy buena imagen!!!

  • this is crazy all the cure ive heard and never knew about this version this is cool i like the hot pink pants heh

  • Even though Robert looks completely different than what most of us are use to , I still think he is absolutely gorgeous here. His eyes are so entrancing. Even though this song is 30 years old , it sounds so very cool today . This is definitely a timeless piece of music here. The cure forever!!

  • Robert was absolutely gorgeous during the early days. It is hard to believe it is the same bloke. Still a genius though. Love this version. Been playing it again and again and again and again and again! Bought this single when it first came out. I was 15 at the time

  • @bingoace Yes, it is hard to believe he is the same guy but still hot as ever!!! And he is definitely a genius, a poetic genius indeed. I love " a forest" so much! It is such a fantastic song ! So glad to know another Cure fan!!:)) The Cure forever!

  • Though I have seen this video several times, I just wanted to play this as the first song of the New Year 2010. It has been 30 years since this song was officially released. It's hard to imagine. This song still sounds fresh to this day!

  • I believe that this song is the best of the post-punk/new-wave-era.

  • THE MAN WHOSE HEAD EXPANDED - The Fall

Although, this is amazing, just thought i'd throw it out.

  • nah...

  • that's the dumbest question ever. you should be so embarrassed

  • why were cure not on recent doc about synths in music?

    do brit

    journos know shit

  • haha nice pink pants ;)

  • i thought the same

  • here's where they really became the Cure...

  • this is the year i was born.....but the stil are alive and kicking

  • In some download sites, I can't found "A Forest (At Night), pre-version 1979",............ I found it as "Into The Trees"

  • Even Tolhurst played better this song than Jason

  • Pink trousers...YESSSSS!!!!!

  • Imagine: THIS awesome hymn THIRTY years ago... and then think about the stuff most people were listening to in 1979... Which proves: Cure were SO ahead...

  • @Poll4Life

There were tons of awesome underground bands in 1979 too, many of whom influenced the Cure - Joy Division, Wire, et al.

  • @Poll4Life 1978 was the birth of "Post punk". The Jam tried to bring back the 60s Mod influence. The Cure was more like a Queen style band before reinventing themselves by the late 70s. David Bowie and Kraftwerks were ahead by nearly 10 years. This is a mix of post punk and electronica with a bit of glam thrown in. to much was happening in the late 70s but the cure helped a new movement which became mainstream in the early 80s. Then American vanity rock like Poison came around and killed it.

  • @Poll4Life 79 was JAMPACKED with new and exciting and original stuff you silly man/woman

  • @Poll4Life This is great music! But I don't think Cure were ahead, 'cause this is typical post-punk. I'd rather say most listeners are behind compared to musicians...

  • @Poll4Life NOPE .

  • @Poll4Life yes , and i wionder about the kind of people who listened the cure then...somehow i envy them now

  • @Poll4Life

1979? Joy Division, Wire, Blondie, The B-52's, The Undertones, The Clash, The Pretenders, Gary Numan, Roxy Music, Buzzcocks, Gang of Four, etc., etc.

  • Why did Robert have his make-up??? He looked so cool without it.

  • Bowie's influence...

  • I totally agree

  • Simon is so hot

  • Roberts pants are.. really short lol

  • the lyrics are ..just humor. cheers on this video

  • this song is timeless. can be played at different tempos and always sounds good. however i dont care for jason the new drummer. hes just not good fit for the cure. boris was their best one. by the way robert looks like hes in high school. I like his look over the makeup.

  • yes. jason really sucks!

boris should return to the cure!!!

  • personnaly i don't have any idea about this, but in the interview in the trilogy DVD they say that Jason is a very good drum player and he is still in the band now.

I saw them in 2002 with keyboard and in 2007 without keyboar and with the come back of Boris Williams on guitar ( he doesn't have any hair ! )

    I realy love the cure

  • jason really zucks! and Boris Williams is not the guitar player but the former great and best Cure drummer ever.

  • it was porl that came back not borris who is a drummer...and he looks retarded but the cure kinda sucks now anyway

  • jason doesn't suck, but boris just fittet.

  • A Forest seems to have influenced U2's creation of An Cat Dubh, which came out in 1980 after A Forest.

  • Einfach nur gut.

  • el atuendo de simon esta con madre!

  • wow. i absolutly love this version. alottt. haha tochurst...its all good no worries

and also robert is so cute :)

  • Its a treasure!

  • that version is better than the newer one!!

the drums, the guitars & the bass bangs my head!

i love the 1st formation of the cure (1976-1982?)

  • 1st Cure formation was with Michael Dempsey on bass, Dempsey left the band before the 2nd was released to be replaced by Simon Gallup before 1979.

  • only 30 years old now ;)

  • is this availebl on dvd?cd?

    plesae respond
