I just saw this video. My unit was actually in this fight. When we foung him, he was in the middle of being tortured. The insurgents were whipping him with a metal cat-o-nine-tail. If we got there an hour later he would've been dead.

Don't be an idiot. I am NOT justifying Taliban's actions or beliefs. What I meant to say was: Terrorism will continue, and even in greater amounts, as long as the US was and is creating hate among Arab civilians (more join the Taliban, more radicalize). It's ironic and pathetic. The US is going into an anti-terrorism war but the only thing they do is create hate and more terrorist threat. I'm glad you see it. =) However, with this knowledge I don't understand how you can still support the war. War is not something simple: destroy the enemy and you win. War is an endless waterfall of actions, retaliation, revenge, hate and wrath.

Now this would be OK if the ones who choose for it are the only ones to get hurt, but that is obviously not the case, and has Bush's america for 3/4 to blame.

That is where the mistake is. This is not a war between two armies. Indeed, when you take out the other's force you win. But the situation is drastically different now. This is a civil war. You have to win over heads in this fight. As long as you keep creating this hate against America more people radicalize. How could you possibly hate someone so much and tie bombs to yourself and blow up just to do this damage!? We are supposed to be civilised here! Why don't we show the right way?

I know little about actual fighting. But I have a sence of justice and professionality. Obama is 4 steps foreward where Bush took 5 steps back. Obama wants to talk, win over people to his side and actually create security and safety for the population. He wants to put the taliban in a position where they can have less recruits, less resources, less power over the population.
