Up until a few minutes ago, I would not listen to anyone else's version of this song but William Warfield's. Now this man comes along, I know not from where, and I find myself weeping, transported. There are a thousand dimensions here, gorgeous overtones, delicate balance, and an accompaniment that loves the music.
Yes, check amazon under 'Copland old American songs.' There are various artists and choirs who have recorded these. I don't see any by Thomas Allen, however.
