I just ordered this set for $150, I really look forward, in fact this will be my first Lego technic set ever ! My plan is to update it with airtank (after i get one), because as i see you must keep pumping for almost every piston movement. This set is very interesting to me - lot of pistons here. After get it i am going to post my opinions here :)

Il y a parfois de très bonnes affaires en occasion (je dirais même que les affaires les plus exceptionnelles, c'est quasiment toujours de l'occasion ; typiquement, quelqu'un qui a retrouvé un set de 80€ au fond d'un placard depuis 5 ans, et qui le vend pour 10€).

This is a very nice set, I bought it back in the day for $100 and I was very shocked to see 10 pnuematic cylinders, 2 pnuematic pumps and over 3 meters of tubing, It all fits in there somehow. It is very nice, but instead of buying this, I would buy 8421 mobile crane at this point in time, its 350 bucks where I found it. Happy Building

Cool, you control it well. I'm thinking I might separate the pumps so I could have high pressure for the dual pistons and lower pressure for hoe.

Good idea. But it will take a while to move the dual pistons with one pump (because before moving these pistons, all the pneumatic system must be full). Besides, it is also possible to get low pressure with two pump, but you are right, it may be easier with one pump. :)

Yes, the 8455 works with pump. There is many models who works with battery : 8479, 8480, 8292, 8297, 8275, 8457 and many others...

This 8455 is probably one of the most expensive sets.

i got one of these beauties myself. I added two air tanks to the sides of it (to the sides of the steering knob) takes time to fill it to full but it you can pump it and then move the pneumatics for a while. Tried making a motorized pump for it, but so far no luck.

To get this model at a low price, you have to be lucky. Most of times, a 8455 in good condition reach about 150€.

Anyway, I think that ebay is still de best solution to get it at a decent price (with luck ^^).

8455 is expensive (160€, 703 parts). 8285 is much cheaper (130€, 1877 parts).

With 8285 you will have a lot of different parts.

With 8455, you get a lot of pneumatic parts (10 cylinders, 7 switchs, 2 pump). 8285, only has 1 cylinder, 1 switch and 1 pump (but is has 10 wheels).

To sum up, 8455 is better (but too expensive :'( ), it is very impressive.

If you want to MOC, buy the 8285. Thanks to the wide range of parts, you can nearly build what you want.
