Union busters will try to say that unions are some evil entity that are killing American jobs, it just not true, unions are working families and America is losing non union manufacturing by the tens of millions. Unions make up only 12% of the work force.

unions at face value were a great idea except the fact that they became controlled by the mafia(example vegas was built on union pension funds) and now the reason jobs go over seas is because it is cheaper for the business..why? because of all the unions and there stipulations of workers comp, health care for the whole family, disabilities etc... the other countries don't have that =profit that is why jobs leave our soil !! we need the jobs here now!!

The original purpose of labor unions were a good idea. Workplace safety, minimum wage rules, child labor laws, workers compensation, etc... All of those things were a problem once, but All of those things are federally mandated now. I'm greatfull to the unions for that. I'm not against the unions, but I think they have lost sight of their intended purpose. After you get what you wanted, you just want something else.

I'd like to know how you think the working class won the election? Obama is about as working class as Paris Hilton. Obama now plans to manipulate the pay scale at all levels of employment in any company HE decides is "too big to fail", whether they accepted bail out money or not. How are the Unions going to like that when he walks in and overturns the contract and pay scale that they negotiated? Ask Jimmy Hoffa what happens when you piss off Union workers.

My intention is clear, I want to make my own decision as to who gets to speak for me. You don't need to know who I work for, and I don't need to know who you work for. unions created the middle class that both liberals and conservatives love to pull out of the air . most employers only care about their bottom line. they see their employees as a necessary evil. they wouldn't want to get THEIR HANDS dirty. unions create a negotiating table by which management and labor have an equal say about wages,working conditions, and benefits.

"DreamerM" I understand your too young to even have a job..but from the rest of us who do and have managed more than 50+ employees..union shops were held to 8 hours work days...one more time..only 8 hours at a set price that was almost 40% BELOW what I paid workers for the same job...the unions siphoned off the rest of the wage...and while our people had the opportunity to work more hours and EARN more $..union guys had to go home..anybody can work for a union..know what that means..?

Union busting is a billion-dollar a year industry, and union membership has fallen off a cliff. As a result most of the union protections won in the first part of the last century have been gutted. One of the many reasons for our currently decimated middle class.

Long working days occurred because they offered greater opportunity and people weren't afraid to work hard back then

I agree that this is a grave threat to our economy and freedom. This act will destroy our hospital system.

There is no reason for most nurses and allied health professionals to unionize. Hospitals provide competitive wages and benefits because health care workers are in short supply. They don't need "protection" from the unions. These are not jobs that are in danger of being outsourced or sent overseas. What the unions will do is help Obama in his takeover of the healthcare system.
