  • By nature I have sympathy for the down and out. But my experience with some from the Greater Shankill is drug use and hostility toward the police among many youths along with a lack of appreciation for the value of education. Also an under current of anti-Catholic hatred that makes even fellow NI Protestants uncomfotable. Sometimes you make your own bed to lie in if you know what I mean.

  • I live in the lower shamkill i have a job and i think of myself as a respectable person. I try to keep my area tidy but it's hard when we have trampy bastards around us throwing their kids toys & rubbish round the streets.

  • @stuart743 Yeah I'm in the exact same position as you.. I clear my garden everyday or to find nothing but crap I don't buy/eat.

  • Perhaps if the 'honest' residents of the Lower Shankill actually took pride in their area and didn't repeatedly destroy it (graffiti, arson, break-ins) then maybe the government would consider putting money into it.

  • Anti social behaviour is everywer. the falls road suffers the same behavious you hav jus said, but it gets loads of money. you go anywer in northern ireland and antisocial behaviour is there. the reason it isnt being considered is because of its bad name, which is bias.
