  • I think only lv 20 and lv 90 have reflect on themselfs

  • Kara.. Terra.. WHATEVER GAME I'M PLAYING HERE!

can you hurry up with CASTING X-ZONE?!?

    LOL!

  • Comment removed

  • i think its the spell merton u were thinking of

  • This seemed to be one of the more stressful scenarios of the whole LP for HCBaily. I mean...he almost came close to losing there...it was nearly tragedy.

  • This will be a good time to use the bathroom, while I am in the middle of the battle.

  • Since the white dragon has no physical attacks, can it be killed through MP depletion?

  • it's like a computer except you DIE

  • I'm currently working on a rework of this game by fixing most of the retarded battle scripts and exploits but leaving the actual game alone

  • celestriad ftw!

  • there's better places to level up or increase magic, Moogle Charm!

  • The second you said "game" as in "that's just great, game." an advert for GAME flashed on the video...

  • Try running into the holy dragon on the veldt. Normally I don't have wall rings on and don't think about it when it appears. It seems to like to get a few spells in before I mute it. :-/

  • Try fighting the white dragon without Wall rings. wall rings just makes the tower much much easier.

  • Why should you care if someone cares is they worship Kefka. The goal of the game is to defeat him anyway.

  • I know deep down we all still worship this game. I can see that ghoul you dispatched will probably get a ticket ahead of Beatlejuice.

  • they should change mute so instead of saying 'MUTE' it should say 'STFU!'

  • There's no reason Celes can't be learning something. Like Terrato.

  • The training center mentions about reflection of spells in the advanced room. In case you didn't check that out.

The game is so old it isn't hard anymore. Did you consider low-level runs?

  • If you were to cast Berserk on yourself in this tower, would your character then be able to use physical attacks?

  • in theory wouldnt casting life on something thats dead bring it back to life instead of killing it? just a thought.

  • Your timing is always immaculate with cliffhangers, sir.

  • yay i finally got a reference. and its from betelguese

  • vanish then x-zone takes care of the dragons lickedy split as well

  • level 90 magic has merton the un-focused fire spell, meteor i think and it will cast life 3 on u for some reason.

  • Barrier penetration from other "sources" lol. That sounded somewhat vogor XD

  • If Kefka is a Nihlist, then his worshippers would be. So where did they work up the motivation to build that tower also?

    Heh, nice goof ups.

  • well, first time players wouldn't know that he was vulnerable to mute...

  • awesome cliffhanger! i love this stuff!

  • Worshiping a clown? I laughed at that part!

  • best spell to kill it quickly.. Ultima.. hehehehe

  • 0:36 Another reference? c'mooon

When i was on this part of the game... it was.... let's just leave it at "Hard"...

I'm not that much as a strategy maker.. but im lucky yeah...

Suscefully made it thourgh this part... but it took my time.... yeah.

  • Wow first video I've seen where HCBailly doesn't play a game perfectly...

  • That dragon is so weird, it cant make physicla attacks and it has only 2 spells. with mute or reflect rings youre invincible. Its ridiculous!

And why ghostie has joined kefkas cult!?

  • i like how he leaves off at the end =)

  • ok. my question to u hc bailey why couldn't they just land the airship on the tower. sure they may have mages casting spells at them but if they cast reflect on the airship then they will be fine

  • Using the Esper Palidor as a call spell here is a pretty major cheat and one of the only few ways to inflict physical attacks! And no I don't think that Kefka really cares if these idiots worship him either lol!

  • It never occurred to me why they had you receive the Pearl Lance after the battle instead of as a drop - to stop you from farming them on the Veldt. Well played, game designers.

  • Can you learn "magic level 10-90" rages on the veldt?

  • No. They are among the few monsters that cannot be encountered on the Veldt, nor are they Rages he could execute, so it's not a bug.

  • wouldn't it be interesting if he could?

He'd probobly be casting fire, metron, W-wind, Cure 3 and stuff like that as his second ability... lol

  • Well on the bright side, there is a monster who has Merton as its "Rage Ability".

  • *by which I mean a monster that appears on the Veldt, should be obvious but sometimes the obvious is overlooked so clarifying just in case*

  • Wonder if that's the sorcerer who stoned Odin? Same sprite.

  • It is also notable that silver dragon has only 2 spells IIRC. Holy and some useless spell. Seriously reflect makes invincible, what a pathetic dragon.

My max hp was 3k for others and 9k for cyan! =D The music here is great.

    Nice cliffhanger!

  • btw the mobs here are very susceptable to physical dmg umaro is a very nice choice here because he doesnt have the magic command and other stuff he instantly does melee no matter what.

  • oops forgot it also works on the ps1 version too

  • i can tell you are running on the snes there is a trick if you vanish then xzone or death and it is an instant kill on anything

  • He knows this.

  • Bah, that mod doesn't stand a chance...

  • Your max HP seems a bit low, or at least low compared to mine when I played this game. Then again, I didn't vary my party as much (e.g. I pretty much never used Shadow, as I've always kinda been against having a character's primary method of attack involve using up items--I don't know why, even. Although I guess Rosa's arrows in FFIV are an exception....).

  • Thing about this area that really annoyed me was that the enemies use tons and tons of counter turns, so that it takes an eternity for you to get in just one round of attacks. It's bad enough that the tower is gruelingly difficult, but they had to try our patience in the middle of battles on top of all that!

  • Terra is waaay better than Kara. :)

  • kara who?

  • Cliffhanger Bailley REALLY needs to die!

  • Why so concerned about the L. 90 Magic when you have wall rings?

  • some magic they cast, cant be reflected

  • Meteor and Merton penetrate wall.

  • That plus it's harder to heal with Wall/Reflect on your party and no access to Pearl/White Wind.

  • Bozo worships Crusty, worships Binky worships IT worships Kefka?

  • Why can't you just jump down? After all you can survive fall of infinite height

  • Indeed. Actually, anyone can survive falls of infinite height; it's hitting the ground that sucks, so falls of indefinite height worry me more.

    Just sayin'.

  • Kind of reminds me of Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.

  • @YeUndone Go be a cat.

  • >we will have to pay the "ultimate" price to get it,

    Interesting pun!

Told you this tower is very confusing.

    Very ... nice cliffhanger!

  • lol the guy on top left at the end is facing the wrong way :P

  • I loled - good find kind sir

  • have fun with the next boss fight... dang hes ebil...

then again most final fantasy 6 files i had i hacked in snes version and killed him with ultima spam XD

  • The HP of all Magics is their level x 10, so you can figure out how much damage you need to deal. 9999 always kills any magic, so if you have Ultima like me, it's a cakewalk.

  • Awesome. But the high level magic enemies seem hellish.

Can someone tell me what was exactly changed in the GBA verion of the game? Besides... the graphics and the stuff.

  • mostly glitches. but they didnt fix the unlimited atacking cyan

  • Other than a new dungeon, a Soul Shrine (basically a sort of 'boss rush'), and some bug fixes (Vanish + Doom/X-Zone doesn't work), nothing really.

  • Cool. So basically, this guide can cover anything in the GBA version, except the glitches and the new stuff.

  • yes

  • Correct. Course the translation, and thus a lot of names, has changed as well but on the whole you'll be able to follow along. Just note that using Snare on Intangir won't work, as that was part of the Vanish + Doom/X-Zone glitch.

  • I must say, I really like how you give all of the characters a chance throught the game... but I dont care for how you exploit spells that really shouldnt effect bosses, doesnt that feel like cheating the game? Doesnt it take away the fun of it for you?

  • Oh crap, a L90 Magic! Merton is the best spell in the friggin GAME! Flame Shields are your friend!

  • This what Kefka fanboys do Bailey. Only I'm not sure about the tower. -.-;

  • Meteor does sound familiar on that lv. 90 magic enemy. Not 100% sure though. Its been a while.

  • What's the gem box called in the GBA version

  • Soul of Thamasa.

  • OH, so it's dualcast.

  • Weird that Soul of Thamasa has different effects in every game.. in this one, it's dualcast. In Crisis Core, it lowers MP cost to 0. In FFX-2, it has the MP Turbo effect (increase magic cost and damage of spells).

  • This tower was hell, I thought this was for rescuing Strago...

  • N.o.E.s.c.a.p.e.

  • I could've sworn Level 90 Magic was a him. Hmm... The next Ms.Cloud anyone?

  • 8:54 lol Its real funny when HC shouts for some reason.

  • "come on kara, terrra. WHATEVER GAME IM PLAYING!"

  • (3:27) The L.10 Magics died because they kept burning themselves with reflected fire magic (such as at 2:54). Toasty!

(9:09-9:21) Computers do what you tell them to do, not what you want them to do!

  • Except if it's a Mac...stupid Macs..

  • Lv 90 Magic has gender problems

  • Oh you saw his merton anyway, sorry.

  • L90Magic got freakin' "Merton" i.e. "Meltdown", a spell as powerful as Ultima, but fire-based, defense piercing and hitting everyone on the screen. And fire doesn't do anything to L90Magic. That enemy is straight out evil.

  • Lv. 90 Magic actually doesn't absorb fire. He does absorb Wind though, and Merton/Meltdown is actually Fire/Wind elemental.

  • AHHHHH perfect time for an ending lol

  • Hey! beetljuice reference...Keep moving!

  • beetlejuice ftw

  • Kefka shouldve Light of Judgemented the Fanatics Tower for the lolz.

  • Always with the best timing for these endings 8D

  • hey hc i was just wondering do you plan to do a final fantasy iv the after years lp in the future ??. as for this one great job :)

  • Gem Box + Earrings + Terra + Ultima = Ownage

I always hated this dungeon when I was younger, until I learned some sneaky tricks against the boss.

  • I've got a better combo...

Economizer + Gem Box + Terra + Ultima = you can't possibly lose to this game...

  • oh yeah, you missed morph though, because thatjust doubles the pain

  • I remember how to get pass the Final boss of this place, I bet I know what you are going to do when you're facing him in the next episode...

Gem box...X magic...good...item you win when you bet Gem box at Colosseum...Great...but can make this game way too easy...especially if you have Ultima as a spell...

  • I just remembered...you only get one Gem box in the game...I don't think there is a way to get another...But the Economizer (the item you can get if you bet the Gem box) you can get from certain enemies, but it's a rare drop or steal...I forgot about that...

  • An enemy in the Phoenix Cave has it as a rare steal. (said monster has no common steal though) Another enemy in the Dinosaur forest, the Brachiosaur, has it as a rare drop. Course the Brachiosaur is arguably not just the hardest random encounter in the game, but one of the hardest enemies in the game period as he can use powerful attacks like Disaster and Ultima seemingly without warning. (researching his attack script helps a bit though, and there are cheap ways to kill him like Control)

  • So obviously going back to the Phoenix Cave would be the safer route.

  • Correction, said enemy in the Phoenix Cave DOES have a common steal. I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused you.

  • Yummers, Gem Box. Equal to a perpetual Vivi trance, but with white magic too.

  • Better to worship a clown, than getting atomized by the Light of Judgment.

  • use strago as a decoy and let the rest flee!

  • Finally, the power of Merton.

Clowns are all the 'rage' for the World of ruin's, even for that white dragon there.

But still, for the Tower of fanatic's, they basically used the nine spellcaster sprites of the game, and just made a palette swap to make em more intimidating and just head on without a remake, when there's X-Fight, there must be X-Magic.

  • How does a white dragon look red? It makes no sense!

  • Try reasoning that with the Dirt Dragon....

  • He was in disguise so people would feel threatened.

  • Rally ho! Nice cliffhanger! More... later. Waffo!

  • that boss gave me so much trouble

  • Grrr, what an evil cliffhanger.

Have fun with the 'U' spell of DOOM! Although you are already prepared for it..

Its only one of three ways of killing the boss..

  • meteor is correct

  • I completely agree about the World of Ruin being like bonus content, except most of the dungeons aren't horribly annoying with high encounter rates, fetch quests, and irritating endurance tests.

But a lot of the "character development" seems tacked-on, almost nothing is directly relevant to fighting Kefka, and the Doma castle scenario is almost exactly the kind of thing you see in Squeenix bonus content.

  • I just skipped this area and never even got strago in my playthrough.

  • Gembox, best relic in the game? Maybe. It's pretty damn good, virtually doubles your magic power. Though there is only one, and I wonder if what the game makes you go through in order to obtain it is a little over the top.

  • What do you mean it "virtually" doubles your magic power?

Economizer/Three Stars/Celestriad is way better for casters, if you ask me. It's one of the most broken abilities in a Final Fantasy game, whereas Dualcasting was introduced in V and made plenty of reappearances.

  • Economizer? Who cares if your spell costs 1MP at that point in the game, you have hundreds of mp and can restore your mp to full without much trouble. Three stars, what was that, cast 3 spells for the cost of 1? Well in FF8 magic is pretty underpowered if you ask me, except for maybe full life or shockwave pulsar, unless you stay at a very low level the whole time your playing demi works better than most other attack magic 90% of the time. celestriad? Double your magic power > 1MP per cast.

  • Three Stars (スリースターズ surii sutaazu) is the Japanese name for Celestriad/Economizer, though Celestriad has to be one of the most clever item name translations ever, so I definitely approve of it. Other FF games simply transliterate it as "Three Stars" though.

As for doubling your magic power, well, don't forget Quick. Cast Ultima twice for 3MP!!!

And sure, I'll kill goblins with Ultima! At 1MP, who cares?! THAT is why Celestriad is broken/cheap.

  • First time I saw this I thought I was screwed.

  • Terra lost float, not that it's pretty relevant hehehe.

  • Lol when you reflect the spells from all your characters and hit one monster will it do 4x the damage?

  • It's not rly 4x, depends of the game, in FF9 it does something like 2,8x

  • No, but the cumulative split damaged attacks spells x4 probably equals something like 1.25-1.50 the amount of damage that would have been done if cast on a single target.

  • Yaaaay its up thanks HC. And as far as kefka caring about his fanatics... i dotn think he even knows they exist.

  • I think eventually they get promoted to guard duty in the final dungeon.

Whoever they are, you've got to feel sorry for them. Nobody's around to love them and break them out of the spells.

  • What with Steampunk style Final Fantasy games (6 and 7) couldn't someone invent an elevator? or at least an escalator?

  • Steam..punk?

  • Like cyberpunk, but with steam...

Anyway, FFVII is hardly steampunk, and it HAS elevators, and quite a few of them throughout the game. You can take the stairs in the Shinra Tower to avoid the monsters that randomly ride the elevator (though it's hardly worth it).

  • Like cyberpunk, except you DIE.

  • lol

  • Actually, there were elevators in the Magitek Factory.

  • Part of the initiation ritual into the Krazy Kefka Kult is climbing all those stairs.

  • nice

  • I will block all of you "firsters" yet.

  • But then what will they tell their friends about at the lunch table?
