  • so insane\

  • Fantastic song. Paul Dempsey is an amazing songwriter. His voice is beautiful.

  • What a bizarro world we live in, when musical and lyrical talent like this has 50,000-odd views, the weirdness of Lady Ga-Ga has 250 million views, and this is regarded as 'alternative'.

  • Love the Faux Pas remix so much more, but this is ok

  • who cares what its about, I have my own meaning for this song :-) Anyway great song

  • awesome song..........but ''bird in a basement''moves me so much that i often find myself crying towards the build up to the end of the song....''like a dog on a fire escape'' ..''like a bird in a basement''......these two lines.....amazing .......and im a straight dude!...wtf!....haha

  • @branchwarrenolympia It's cool, dude. I think most (straight) male SFK/PD fans have huge man-crushes on PD ;) Join the club.

  • performing this next week

  • I prefer the Faux Pas remix. Sounds a lot more unique than this one.

  • QUOTE FROM TRIPLE J HOTTEST 100 V.17

"This guy walks into a bar...and he gets locked in conversation with this waitress who's actually likw a 'human version 2.0' or something and they start talking about love and life and death," explains the something for kate frontman. "i don't know what it means - but it feels right to me"

    ENJOY :)

  • An A.I.? First time I've seen the official video and that had never crossed my mind. I thought it was a ghost story. Ramona _was_ a waitress. She didn't need this skin and bone because she's a ghost. Looking forward to living forever was sad (because she was dead). Sometimes it doesn't pay to find out what the artist really meant.

  • @MrMartykay, so true I had such a diferent picture of this song in my head before.

  • Such a great guy to boot. Shared a few heinekens with him after a 'Something for Kate' gig at wrest point casino about 5 years ago. Steph was awesome too.

  • No disrespect, I like him, but don't you think he looks like a Chris Lilly character??

  • Paul Dempsey looks like wants to molest me

  • he's a good artist but the music is kind of repetitive

  • paul is an amazing artist, such a good song and the whole albu is just pur bliss

  • Genius

  • got my vote for the hottest 100

  • sorry! I clicked down instead of up! I found this through JJJ Hottest 100. Just wanted to check it out before I buy his album. Awsome track! I love it. Can't unclick the down,

  • @akakripsy haha i found out about this song through the same thing.

  • Essence!!

  • i luv this song coz of the original sound and vibe!

  • And what a fine waitress she was! Love this song! Gret clip too. I salute you Paul Dempsey and Ramona!!

  • Also I missed Paul Dempsey at the Manning Bar in Sydney. My older brother got tickets to the show and disregarded to tell me that he had a free one.

Even though I physically purchased the album and I leant it to him.

    Please play another Sydney show?

  • that sucks. i got to see him (acoustic only) in geelong, he was brilliant.

    my album of the year

  • I love this album so much, especially this song.

One of the best albums released this year.

  • I love this song so so much, its so good and the dancer is amazing. The Best Part Is at the start when they are both dancing together. Well done film clip.. Is the song about Ramona Killing her self or dieing ?

  • lol No... it's about Ramona (a robot) making him realize that all our human feelings/emotions/memories are really worthless and will fade away with our mortality; "She (herself) doesn't recognize this song", she can't feel. "She's looking forward to living forever"... We understand what that means, but to her it's just 'natural'; to us it's heart-breaking 'cause we're stuck with our humanity, to which he says "I don't need this arms anymore, this heart now to love, this skin and bones at all".

  • @DjLuckyOnline Ramona might live forever, but she is still a waitress. How is that more meaningful or worthwhile than a mortal life? I think that is what Paul is trying to say, not that our transience makes our thoughts and feelings inherently worthless. Even if you live forever, you still have to figure out what to do with your life. If you are just staying in the one place, then immortality is pointless.

  • @Adnamira at min. 1.05, that's what the video tries to tell us, but then by looking at her sad stare it's not certain wether she really feels rejected or it's just her nature to let disappointments slide off. It's a VERY sad song regardless, but that's one of the things that makes it very attractive and different. It's not an anthem to androids, it's more of an introspection at what being a human's all about.

  • ramona was a rapist

  • Paul Dempsey, you look mega sexy in this video!

  • Does anyone have the tabs for this song??

  • Totally awesome. Love it!

  • awsome song

  • Awesome.

  • sweet song paul - yeah yeah....

  • good song. it would be better if it was "romona was a racist"

  • lol sounds like some weird al rip off

  • He's up there with the best of the aussies, great song, cant wait to see him in perth soon !!!

  • This guy is amazing!! I must say that Australians make damn good music. Not all of them, but it's refreshing compared to all that american mainstream S*&%

  • loves it :)

  • This song is sooo good xD

  • oozes cool!

  • excellent

  • I love the video clip...for some weird reason it reminds me of checkout chicks LOL, they always cop so much shit from people......

  • awesome song.

  • i like the unplugged slower version of this song he performed yesterday on channel 7's sunrise

  • im with u there

  • he was so good singing live too.... sometimes... all it needs is a simple guitar......

  • this is an awesome song, my fav right now. the clip is interesting, quite cool. great aussie singer/songwriter.

  • Great to see that an awesome australian talent still has it. love your work.

  • bought my tickets to see him at the rosemount today

    gunna be sick

    XDXDXD

  • You know when you love a song so much and can't wait to see the video for it, but then it turns out to be something totally different to what you'd imagine it to be in your head? That's kinda how I feel about this video... it could've been so epic...

  • I so get what you're saying. I never listened to the words properly and thought it was some sad kind of love song. The vid kinda spoils the song, which I think is brilliant and almost haunting.

  • Finally a song with my name that I like! XD

  • I was never a Something For Kate fan, but this is brilliant!

  • I cant say i love the clip, but i love the song :)

  • this song is very insiteful and deep i wish i could write like that congrates on a great song i love it

  • I freakin LOVE this song!!!! But some of the dancing resembles Kath Knight (of Kath & Kim)

    Still sensational though!!!

  • yes im sure a great artist like this was inspired by kath and kim's dancing..

  • This song is fun...as is the video! Great!

  • Great song! Thank you. Great aussie song. Inspires me.

  • awesome song. awesome musician.

  • loveee this song <3

    so chilled

  • Finally some Aussie music to take some pride in

  • What are you talkin about, australians have been putting out fantastic music for ages.

  • love it great aussie music crank it rite up ppl.

  • does anyone know the chords for this song? i'd love to play it for my final practical music performance on guitar

  • Ever since I heard of a very radio starved group "Something For Kate", I was addicted to this man's voice. All of his works are great, yet he is not appreciated in Australia. We have lesser artists locally that get more airplay, I wonder why. Well, I'm of to iTunes to buy the tune (support the artists)

  • The work of a true songsmith.

  • Happily for Mr Dempsey, I think this song is going to be played to death for a while here in Australia. I may buy it and then stop listening to radio and tv until they find a new favourite.

Perhaps then I will be able to enjoy it occasionally forever.

Lovely song, with a melody completely original to me. His lyrics remind me of Elvis Costello, and his ability to give you a lot to think about while being unsure exactly what you are thinking about (cf "After the Fall"). Catchy as swine flu.

  • good song but i like out the airlock more

  • I love this so much,

  • love ya work

  • @my previous post and it's down rating - I'm not particularly phased that the description reads "A song about Artificial Intelligence." Art can take many forms, and Dempsey is an artist.

The only A.I I see is the product placement here: 0:06

  • try here :) 0:04

  • top song

  • Very nice indeed. A song about A.I? I didn't get that impression when i first listened to it, but now, it can see it. Paul uses language beautifully, metaphors especially. Skilfully shot clip + emotional song = (: Can't wait for the album. Thanks Paul.
