Yo the CD is the joint. I love Higher, More Than Love, SwagBack, Red Eye, Heard'Em All, Pretty Brown, Diffrent People. These are the stand out tracks on the CD.
7,000 sales in it's first week with barely no promotion is good considered robbie williams and jls were expected to debut with between 28,000 and 30,000 and these two are promoted to death.

I love the CD. It gets better with every listen! She's got her own vibe and sound. SHe only makes good CD's. The 3rd CD "Because I love it" was a great CD too...Pretty Brown Eyes is the joint!!!!!!

I do currently have an "unofficial copy". Although, I did order an OFFICIAL one from Amazon, because I want to support her as an artist. And this is coming from a person who never buys anyone's CD. I am just so sick of everyone nowadays. I actually gave up on English music, but I DO rock my Amerie CD!!! Just like you said its really good. She reminds me of how music used to be back in 1990's, since that is the "era" of Hip-Hop R&B music that I like. SUPPORT THE CD, ITS GOOD.

A couple of weeks ago Wendy mentioned her CD was coming out, even before she announced Amerie coming on the show live. I was so excited and wrote it on my calendar...... right next to the words Election Day on my calendar it says "dont forget to Vote & buy Amerie CD" LOL :-) But I agree REALLY BAD PROMOTION the fans dont even know.
i agree with you. this Amerie cd reminds me of 90's r&b...she took it back and i love it. Espeically Pretty Brown ft. Trey Songz...that song just reminds me of how r&b used to be. So much better than some of the music being put out now and it's sad that many won't give it a chance because of the lack of promotion. :(

I agree, even the reviews of the album from Rolling Stone and another site were really misleading. The reviews made it sound as if the only good songs were the uptempo songs and that half of the album was going to boring ballads. I got the album and most of it is up/mid-tempo with a few ballads, that imo are pretty good. Great job Amerie! ; )

I think Amerie has a voice that everybody can't get into. Her voice is unique and her songs just don't catch on like they should. I liked Why r u, but it got no recognition. Other than promo she's not successful because of her song selection, they sound the same sometimes. Red eye is different for her so that could be a potential single.
i plan on buying this album. Since Why R U came out and Tell Me You Love Me leaked a while back I knew I was buying. I just feel so sorry for her cuz she gets no promotion and Def Jam gives her no attention. Most people don't even know she has a single out....let alone an album

I have been rooting for Amerie for a while, but I dont think she doing anything new with her voice .. there's not enough versatility. Every last song reminds me of It's This One Thing, and not because of the beat of the songs, but because she keeps coming with that same shriek (for lack of a better word). I wish her much success though and if I have extra change i'll still support her.

Amerie may be hard to market. Her look is unconventional (black/asian mix) for mainstream and she seems to be passionate about real music (she incorporates a lot of big band instruments into her songs). Not a good combination for what's supposedly 'hot' right now. It's really a shame.

Oh and believe that Pretty Brown Eyes is gonna be a huge single. There already playing it on the radio here in Boston. Great Album. Great Review. I will def buy a copy. She puts out the wrong singles. Higher..Swag Back...are standout tracks. I love Flowers. She is a great song writer. Love the emotion in her voice. However I'm not feeling Pretty Brown to much. I like it. Just she has better songs. I think Amerie has a voice that everybody can't get into. Her voice is unique and her songs just don't catch on like they should. I liked Why r u, but it got no recognition. Other than promo she's not successful because of her song selection, they sound the same sometimes. Red eye is different for her so that could be a potential single.

i plan on buying this album. Since Why R U came out and Tell Me You Love Me leaked a while back I knew I was buying. I just feel so sorry for her cuz she gets no promotion and Def Jam gives her no attention. Most people don't even know she has a single out....let alone an album

Amerie album in stores tmrw and on itunes in 2 hours. In Love and war is so so amazing this needs to be Ameries Breakthrough album for sure. Why R U shoulda been a top 10 billboard smash, Heard Em all shoulda been a top 10, i dont understand, people really dont know music. Pretty Brown Eyes will be the one though mark my words!!!!

I have been rooting for Amerie for a while, but I dont think she doing anything new with her voice .. there's not enough versatility. Every last song reminds me of It's This One Thing, and not because of the beat of the songs, but because she keeps coming with that same shriek (for lack of a better word). I wish her much success though and if I have extra change i'll still support her.

I told myself im not buying her album b/c if i was an artist and my label was not promoting me i would be on youtube giving my fans videos blogtv doing live chats tweeting its so many ways she can promote herself. Amerie may be hard to market. Her look is unconventional (black/asian mix) for mainstream and she seems to be passionate about real music (she incorporates a lot of big band instruments into her songs). Not a good combination for what's supposedly 'hot' right now. It's really a shame.

Oh and believe that Pretty Brown Eyes is gonna be a huge single. There already playing it on the radio here in Boston. I think it will be her most successful single of her carreer and sales will increase. Dont jump to conclusion scorpion cause remember Chrisette Micheles Epiphany album sold more than 83,000 copies first week with very little promotion and no hit single which is incredible if u ask me. I think when people listen to Ameries album on itunes its gonna start selling like crazy. lets just hope for the best cause in my opinion its the best female r&b album to drop this year. Kevin as your friend, I must say I loved your review of Amerie CD and I agree with everything u said. The cd is the business and its soo different from what is being played out today, She should be bigger than and yes im going to say Rihanna, Amerie can SING, DANCE, WRITE, PRODUCE etc. People need to expand there horizon and stop listening to corny sounds that have no meaning. I really like this album! I loved the first two singles. Heard Them All isnt really getting much love tho.
I think Pretty Brown will be HUGE tho! Love it. I cant imagine this song not being a huge hit.
I think this album is ALOT better then Because I Love It (incase you got the UK release) I def agree that the lack of promo is going to hurt this album. But like you said, she can step up on her own.

I don't feel like I'm missing out. I listened to it and I wasn't very impressed, but then again, I don't care for overly Urban-sounding music. The cover for the album is fierce, but the music doesn't match up. It sounds like tired-out ,wannabe old-school R&B. It's feeble to me. I'm glad Amerie decided not to jump on the bandwagon, but I wish she had decided to record some scuzzy electro-pop.

Great Album. Great Review. I will def buy a copy. She puts out the wrong singles. Higher..Swag Back...are standout tracks. I love Flowers. She is a great song writer. Love the emotion in her voice. However I'm not feeling Pretty Brown to much. I like it. Just she has better songs. Hopefully the label won't drop her because it's a good album and will def get good reviews from the critics, but will bomb on the charts. She has the look, a great voice and a good personality.She should be a star!!!
