  • I love this Song...

  • this song makes me feel in love<3

  • Rupert Hine's version sounds MUCH better...

  • Dusty and the word DIVA go hand in hand. And they will never part! Thank you, Dusty, wherever you are now.

  • Amazing song!

  • This is Dusty Springfield at her best. Wonderful ballad, I never get tired of listening to it.-

  • love this song

  • A song for the love of my life....so beautiful. The video is so captivating. :)

  • Love it! =)

  • Beautiful song, one has to dream away, even if he did not want.

  • dusty was great and thanks to the pet shop boys even young people recognized her as she had a big hit in 87 with WHAT IVE DONE TO DESERVE THIS ?

  • A brilliant vocal performance by Dusty. It has the trademark that she often used of starting soft and then building to a breathtaking crescendo. She was truly a wonderful vocalist. I understand that other singers study her and her phrasing. They should !!!

  • Very nice song, but I am still much more of a fan of Rupert Hine's version.

  • yeah i love this version too. No one can sing like Dusty...her sound and style and personlity is all her own!

  • This is wonderful -- wish she had found the pet shop boys earlier -- because they are so good together!

  • this tune moves me.......

  • hey havent seen this in years, thats me whafting the white sheet about in the wind machine, I must say I love Dusty and it was a privilage to have been in this video. xx vin

  • This song should of made number one-I've just bought the extended version with the sax solo and it is BEAUTIFUL - just like the lady who sang it.

  • nothing has been proved is my fave

  • mmm this would have been great in the clubs!

  • actually a lot of people know her only from her song What ive done ... with the pet shop boys

but she was very successfull in the 60s but in the 70s she took a long break

  • ffm...Dusty released lots of great lp's in the seventies and many of us never missed any of those awesome works which are all musical masterworks to anyone who loves the best music has to offer...Dusty is the most unique blue-eyed soul singer & greatest voice ever in popular music!

  • well maybe a lot of people you know, but not younger people, they never even heard of the pet shop boys, more people know her from son of a preacher man in the movie pulp fiction, or oldies radio, which plays her other songs but almost never plays that pet shop boys song. p.e.t.a. recently stated that they wanted the pet shop boys to change their name and i had to explain to people who the pet shop boys are.

  • bluehairspray

    oh really ?

    where do you come from

here in germany they had a big hit lasr year with love etc

which was played by radio and tv stations 3-4 times each day

  • oh ok. im in the u.s. i wish i heard the pet shop boys more and that people ten years younger than me dont look at me with blank stares when i mention them. the same happens when i mention erasure.

  • hmm okay

    i know what you mean

in the us the pet shop boys were only succesful in the 80s and in the 90s to the 2000s they were completely ignored by the us media

    what is a shame

and erasure are not successful anymore in europe too they lost their rellevance in the late 90s

but erasure contrary to the pet shop boyxs had a big monster hit with always in 1994 in the us

  • and u ...........ruin this site

  • She has been and still is amazing. Love the song

  • Comment removed

  • She is Amazing!

  • cool song

  • you basterd dusty is cool

  • A truly wonderful song, by the brilliant Dusty!

  • You must be kidding, this is a beautiful version.

  • I agree with you! The BEST version! : )

  • I'm normally not much of a country listener (closest to country I really enjoy is John Denver. (Yes, yes, I know it's folksy pop). I first heard this from Rupert Hine in "Better Off Dead" (Hilarious film. Highly recommended). This is a beautiful song and Dusty does a spectacular job with it. Amazing.

  • awesome song!!!!

  • GREAT!!!

  • I just love this song. It really touches my heart.

  • TV news at 06-30 am is the usual mix of mayhem, murder human interest etc. etc.

But Dusty ahh!, constantly uplifting, perhaps a couple more and then try the news and weather again. I my part of the UK we get as much rain as the Lake District, the countryside is just as grand though

  • she was just pure class that voice wins u over every time, she has a voice that will always be timeless.

  • written by Rupert Hine.

  • Actually, I believe it was written by Jeanette Obstoj, who has done a lot of work with Rupert.

  • Wow, wie lange habe ich das nicht mehr gehört! Wunderschön!

  • gracias besos

  • De nada ♥ :)

    Besos,

    Vanesa

  • this song is soo soo beautiful.. what a voice. i've posted a version of goin' back i did on my page so if you're interested have a look, but nothing will ever compare to her version ;0)

  • This was such a lovely song, shame it didn't do well, i bet if Leona Lewis recorded this it would get to number 1.

  • yeah, I bet it would.

  • What a fab song from a fab album. I'd forgotten how good this album was. Dusty is great and often her later work is overshadowed by her early years. It's all good from an enduring artist.

  • My ipod is crammed with all her later stuff!!!Dusty the best ... period....

  • NOBODY could even come close to doing this better...never....ever....ever...ever!

  • LOVE the voice, great video. Thanks.

  • she sounds smokie, sexy as she did in The Look of Love, wish she´d recorded more songs in this style.

  • Thanx Adeis for posting this great song.I Love it so mutch.

  • This is great but Jay Aston's version is so much better. She also recorded it with Rupert Hine but unfortunately was not released.

  • espuetblanc...true, so true... The fact that Dusty was hounded over the years by journalists, determined to pry into her private life, made her fans more protective towards her. Her voice..wow, no-one sings like this. It is so moving, touches you deep inside. Dusty will always remain in our hearts.

  • No one even comes close to her voice today....I wish they would!

  • dustys vocie is exquisite..full of naunce..wish she done more in this genre as it showcases her voice perfectly..never thought her pop schmaltz did her voice justice at all.. the psb realized it and let her voice roam and fill their uncluttered electronic sounscapes brilliantly!!

  • Rupert Hine wrote this lovely song.

"Better Off Dead" has this song on the soundtrack!!!

  • I've had a good half hour of my favourite soul singer and as usual I get the lump in throat condition. She was wonderful, if there was a fan club I'd join it..........T

  • what does her preference do with her magnificent

voice?i wish she preffered me-my first crush when i was young.those eyes ! they still get to me.

  • A much older "MARIAH CAREY".

  • Im arrested by thiz, so BEAUTIFUL.

  • I read all these comments about Dusty being a lesbian is it important? it seems to be to some. What Dusty was off stage is unimportant. She could sing and I addored her voice, she had SOUL

  • Right Said 73gnikxela: No matter what Dusty Springfield (Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O Brien) was, first and foremost to me, she was first female phenomenon in music. A true model to me and many other people, her music broke ground for other musicians and I admit, when I feel the need to cry, I just listen to that voice and the tears roll down. Dusty is truly missed by anyone who has or has not heard of her.

  • Tell the truth, You are right on! She is the FIRST and the BEST - PERIOD.

  • Dusty was lesbian. She wasn't bisexual. Get over it. People judging her made her life a misery. Who cares who she slept with? she was a brilliant singer and should have been appreciated more in this country.

  • couldn't have said it better myself, 73gnikxela- Dusty's lesbianism really tortured her, if anyone ever really looked at her life and hears what her closest friends have to say, there is no doubt. EVERYONE who came out back in the 60's and 70's and even 80's always claimed to be bisexual, at least at first (elton john, billie jean king, martina navratilova, dusty herself). It wasn't as alienating and shocking to the public as admitting being completely gay.

  • brill; brill.

  • Dusty Springfield was actually bisexual, having equal attraction for both, not that it matters she was a great singer

  • I enjoy the original better... Rupert Hine's Arrested by You.

  • "I enjoy the original better... Rupert Hine's Arrested by You." really?? it is terrible..just awful..

  • Gone but not forgotten...always in my heart...

  • who cares wether or not she was married or a lesbian she was the best and always will be love her forever

  • she married teda bracci read the book dancing with the damons

  • get yo facts right. she was never married.

  • For the man down there hu said dusty would of liked him.. sorry to put a downer on u.. but the women that you had a crush on for so long was actually a lesbian and she married a women lmao x

  • Wonderful...one of the few singers who can convey exactly what we feel in our hearts. A classic performer. Gone but not forgotten.

  • Dusty - better than Aretha.

  • I think a lot of radio stations are under the impression that Dusty only did "Son of a Preacher Man". Think again.

  • All those radio station that seem to think that Dusty only did "Son of a Preacher Man" should think again. Let their audience know how diverse she could be. This is a truly wonderfull, moody song. Marvelous video to go with it. 10 out of 10 from me.

  • She was the very best

  • I have had a crush on Dusty since I was 14. I am 58. Had she lived, I think she would have liked me. But seriously, I love Dusty. Such a style, such soul, Dusty forever my honey! Hey, I learned a few of her songs. Maybe I will post it some time. Tony Learner

  • Yo blue, me an' you both. I know Dusty was different to other girls but what the hell I still loved her

  • It is such a shame this Cd was not released in the states. Dusty was at her best.Bill

  • simply dustyfatastic

  • You gotta love Dusty's style. Her movements allow the proper translation of this lovely song. Most singers can't translate their material that hey are singing. yhat is what set Dusty apart from many othrs-Dusty knew how to translate and understand what her songs were about

  • Rupert Hines wrote that right?

  • Yes, Rupert Hine wrote this. His version of it is beautiful as well. It's on the movie soundtrack from "Better Off Dead" (1985)

  • Very nice song and this video is very well done. Love Dusty!

  • havent heard this song for ages, thanks

  • I haven't seen this one before. Her style was so beautiful.

  • God that voice just makes me go cold. what a great singer.

  • One of my favorite songs by Dusty.

    What a terrific talent.
