  • one love!

  • wtf is fat joe doing there

  • WERE NOT WORTHYYYYYYYY!!!

  • i love him and his music is so amazing

  • R.I.P. COWBOY

  • where can i see the vid?

  • o kurwa

  • Fat Joe's corny ass has no business onstage with these legends!

  • as the song is called

  • They deserved this,I'm just saying I'm a rocker, and of the course the hall of fame is missing lots of good people in that museum, but anyhow they did, shoot they did so much for hip hop and for music, seriously some of the true pioneers right here folks.

  • @animal90sFreak5 they are not rock and roll....PERIOD

  • @dog1clear Hip Hop stem from rock and roll duh

  • @xxxtobyx3 so... what the fuck is your point einstien

  • @dog1clear They technically are rock and roll SCHRODINGER!

  • @xxxtobyx3 o yea i'm sure their right up there with sabbath, zep, deep purple, def lep, and so on. i never said that they arn't important to there genre but your defenition of rock and roll is all fucked up. that leave's me with the opinion that you are falling in to the same shit hole whoever compare's them with true rockers. if your opinion is so valid technically the why have'nt the hip hop or rap award inducted said rockers...or at least as a tribute to their contribution? smartass

  • Grandmaster flash & the furious five are well qualified as rock & roll inductees.. Grandmaster flash pioneered the artform of scratching.

The group sang ,harmonised & performed live in theatres parties & parks with turntables & mics way before being signed.. They also toured alongside bands like the Commodores & Rick james.

It's evident that G.M.F.F 5 were extremely influential if you look beyond the limited number of recordings they released. & examine the origins.

  • @dog1clear well many hip hop tracks have been built around sampling older rock tracks, That's the thing about the break beat generations music. The beats serve as a historical archive. It's probably the most appropriate type of tribute. I'm not saying that hip hop is rock. Just that old school hip hop is rock and roll (in a poetic sense) But in all technicality it does originate from rock, funk r&b and a number of other styles that intern are kin to rock and roll.

  • @xxxtobyx3 man i just think if you have to disect and break down a genre just to get it to fit into another then its to much work. it all sounds politicaly correct but ya wont hear these guys on any rock station in america.

  • if u love grandmaster flash and the furious five u'll love this rare song by them

    /watch?v=wSn8Kd-_sec

  • yo I seen a interview wit LL back from 86 and he dissed melle mel talkin bout people dont want to hear that thats depressing anyone can rap about hardtimes now hes singing along thats funny????

  • damn melle still does his roid striping act, saw him not too long ago at crotona park concert and the fool started to do his body building poses, wtf?? lol

  • this poaple create hiphop

  • what is the mess going on with the performance? the dancers? hype men ruin the integrity of the song. Wtf? goin shirtless? classics dont need to do that.

  • Howcome the Rock n' Roll hall of fame didn't induct Soulja Boy yet? Into a mental health rehabilitation program that is.

  • STOP HATIN

  • oh man you had me worried for a min lol

  • what about kool herc the father of hip hop.. its a shame that alot of people forgot about the creator of hip hop

  • You only get into the Hall of Fame for having hit records. Herc had none, so that's why he isn't in. Despite his innovations in DJing, Flash wouldn't be in the hall either if it wasn't for him getting credit on all of Melle Mel's hit records (like The Message, White Lines, Step Off, Pump Me Up, ect...) In fact, a lot of casual fans think Melle Mel IS Grandmaster Flash because they always see Mels face with Grandmaster flash's name on the records & videos.

  • They dam sure deserve it and Im glad they were first

  • nah col herc belong there if it wasn't for cool herc theywouldn't be know rappers making songs. big ups to one of my favorite groups though

  • i agree cool herc belong there for real

  • I agree too, but like playserious said, you get in the rock hall for having hit records, herc didn't have any, even tho he is the father of Hip Hop.

  • true legends

  • everytime I see him talking to some interview, he always looks like's crying xD

    whatever, he rules anyway

  • who's the bitch commenting to this..she's sounds like a real bad bitch with an attitude..she's don't now shit about hiphop.

  • word

  • ebonics?

  • haha i met dis nigga, hes datin mah ex's sister, he djs here in vegas alot

  • Someone I used to work with a long time ago had the audacity to say that Elvis was a rapper...and he said and I quote "He ain't done nothin' different than what's bein' done today." What an absurd comment.Elvis had what's called musical talent, and he sang brilliantly along with having great musicians around him like Scotty Moore, D.J. Fontana just to name a few.Can (c)rappers claim the same thing? I don't think so.

  • how is avril ravine or whatever inducted after like only a few years but these legends took like 30 years

  • Maybe you should do your homework before saying something stupid. In order to qualify for induction to the Hall of Fame an artist needs to be in the business at least 25 years. This is why musicians like Elvis, the Beatles, and Ray Charles just to name a few are there and not the "musician" you mentioned.See the difference?

  • a BARBADIAN BORN BROTHER inducted to the ROCKING ROLL HALL OF FAME-CARIBBEAN STAND UP!

  • I'm sure all of the homies in the hood are thrilled to have Grandmaster Flash in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But the truth remains...this is NOT ROCK AND ROLL...and their tainted induction was set up by rockhall chairman Jann Wenner who really screwed the Dave Clark Five over getting in last year even though the DC5 won the induction voting.Rap has absolutely no business whatsoever in the rockhall. If they want their place in the hood, rap should have their own hall.Keep the rockhall pure.

  • OK loveclevelandohio, you racist Fuck. Dude not everyone in the R&R HOF is a rock musician. It's more of a music HOF. I agree that Hip Hop should have it's own HOF but these guys are Icons. Their music was social conscious and promoted education to one self to better yourself. They are positive people making positive music.

  • Rappers making positive music...that's a good one...dude. And dude, I am very well aware that the rockhall is not all rock musicians...some of the inductees are promoters, managers, side men, etc. and I'm OK with that.I don't even mind the fact that Motown artists are there...they sang and play actual instruments. To call rap and hip hop "music" is absurd. Thanks for the Racist Fuck compliment BTW.

  • Grow up man. Look up the definition of music and tell me if Hip Hop doesn't fit in. Don't be ignorant. Some people say Rock music is of the devil and it's all screaming and breaking but we know that's not true, so why you can't respect our craft. Don't be ignorant buddy.

  • racist fuck huh. the person gives an opinion on this hall of fame bullshit and he's a racist fuck. it aint a black or white thing. it's about a place in music history. rock is rock hip hop is hip hop two different forms of music. your the racist ignorant fuck

  • Dude who asked you? This dude is obviously not agreeing with their selection cuz it's Hip Hop and that bugs me. Just cuz you don't like the music it doesn't mean they don't deserve recognition. I don't like Elvis' but I respect his contribution to music. You and buddy just don't want to appreciate Hip Hop's contribution to music.

  • what contribution? hip hop should have it's own hall of fame. hip hop has it's place in it's contribution to music history also rap, but not in rock n roll. when you go to a music store and by music they have different selections rock rap hip hop country. it is what it is. i can see it now hip hop's first inductee is pink floyd. come on dude. by the way nobody has to ask me shit this is an open forum. no disrespect intended but lighten up dude.

  • right on well said and by the way you said nothing racist.

  • Thanks. Good to see someone on my side.

  • clevleland rocks......

  • Indeed it does.

  • @mordacity85: there is no one who sounds live as good as on record, for the simple fact of todays quality improvement via computer... the only one might have been whitney houston

  • idk thats a very subjective thing, yes maybe in rap where its mainly vocals over recorded beats for concerts it won't sound "good" but if you go see someone play music the improvising is the major draw to a concert and live vocals are only as good as the singer anyway. even rappers can freestyle over their beats if they want to, people might say that sounds good

  • Play, you are waaaaay off! Flash was the centerpiece of the group. He had many records and set the tone for most of their music. Without him there is no furious five! Real talk!

  • Doesnt sound as good live :(

  • It feels good to know I believed in something, and I was right. I am an audiophile, I love all music. Around 1981, in Peoria, Illinois, I got into rap. Through it, I figured out who I was. And who others were. I left many of my hard rock "friends" behind, many joined with me. Music lovers who saw past the hatred of racism. We saw the similarities in things being written about in punk, heavy metal, and rap, not the differences in style of music or colors of skin.

  • In 81 i went to see flash&da5 in Da venue in Victoria SW1 London Uk Bad ass concert, we got down on the mic with them at the front of the stage. Same year i was bboyin. True UK OG in da place!!

  • Flash has become a legend by gettin' credit for records he wasn't even on. "White Lines", "The Message", ect..., Melle Mel is responsible for all their hits. Flash played no part, other than falsely taking credit. Phony dude is even callin' his autobiography "The Message". Flash's best skill is playin' other peoples records.

  • What??!!? You kidding me? Clearly you have no respect for foundation. Without "Phony dude" as you call him (not to mention the countless others who paved the way)we would not be here. That's like saying your grandparents aren't important, and that would be silly, because your mom or dad wouldn't be here, and neither would you. You follow ?

  • i called flash a phony dude for taking credit for records he wasn't even on like "White Lines" & "The Message". He played no part in either of those 2 tracks, yet he continues to try and exploit them to make money & build his fame by conning ignorant fools like you. flash callin' his new autobiography "the message" is as stupid as melle mel callin' his "the wheels of steel". i'll say it again. flash is a phony dude.

  • playserious is correct. grandmaster flash was responsible for bringing the famous five together because according what is writen, he needed some people to help take away attention from his dj-ing

  • Dat dude in the Army gear, he calls himself "muscles", is one cocky mo fo. I seen him on Rapcity and the guy was flexin in front of the camera every 10 seconds. So annoying. They asked him who his favourite rapper is and he goes "me".

  • "Dat Dude" is Melle Mel and oh I don't know if you were one of the originators of a style of music that now spans the globe and is a multi million dollar business and on top of that people rip your style and lyrics from time time to this very day you would probably think your shit don't stink a little too. But just a little

  • i love the art of grandmaster flash

  • beautiful video. im surprised so little people care. actually im not, but it is sad.
