Was the Scapa Flow the same place where German Empire's fleet surrended in 1918

the last ww1 veteran who died in 2010 was there in that time ^^

Yes thats right, the imperial german fleet scuttled itself in Scapa Flow on 21. June 1918.

Quite a sailor he was , this Gunther Prien. He killed my mom's first cousin on the Royal Oak yet many in my family admire his skill , his audacity and his unquestioned bravery  Albainn Gu Brath

The U47 was sunk by the British in 1941, all hands lost.

It is now believed that Prien was NOT SUNK by the hms walker It is believed the he fired as eel at the walker and it malfunctioned and came back at him sinking the GREAT U 47 with all hands. These men were the BEST of the BEST

Well, he surely was. Going into Scapa Flow was quite a suicide operation even with the sloppy british defence of the harbor in 1939.

Accepting this mission requiered iron nerves....and a considerable amount of impudence ! ;-)

No-it undoubtedly HAD BEEN a suicide mission because he was about to take on all the capital ships that had been berthed there.Now gone, Prien saw immediately he could get away with it.
