  • @Linguiphile i have older welsh songs being uploaded to my channel...subscribe/tanysgrifiwch if you like :)

  • Gwych o gan! Newydd weld Meinir yn canu'n fyw yn Abertawe - mewn oriel gelf, cynulleidfa reit fach, ac roedd hi'n wych! Hon oedd y gyntaf iddi ganu, os rwy'n cofio'n iawn - dewis perffaith!

  • Great talent, what a voice.

  • The only thing more musical than her singing is to hear her speaking Welsh. So soothing.

  • Meinir reminds me of lisa presley Elvis's daughter.

  • No, she's better because she's not a scientologist (I assume).

I think i'd raver learn the language then use these translators ... but they give good laugh non the less

though it's hard not to learn the language without living in wales... and there's not much use n the web

you tried tablets for that ??? ^^

  • Hehe, I like that - stoopid translator! :) 'Echoingheads', Caoinuimh basically thinks that Meinir is a pretty good singer, but doesn't think much of this particular song.

As for me, it's one of my fave Meinir tunes - does anyone know where I can find the lyrics?

  • I find the conversation in the comments fascinating. Something I'm curious about. I'm from the states and am really into tracing roots of people. I'm half Norwegian and half English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and German. It's that Welsh sect thats the most mysterious and intriguing to me.

  • LOL,you americans ay, spreading the seed. Yeh, well i'm English and i am telling you that you need to get to Wales. The North west is the most culturally intact area, that and its absolutely beautiful. Welsh people are descended from the celts, who came from iberia (modern day spain and portugal) over ten thousand years ago. The're also descendants of the Scandanavians and anglos. Its also one of the oldest languages in Europe. A bit of info. for you there. I know lots so feel free to ask.

  • I know one dam thing, the Celts just cant seem to shake that Spanish sound!

  • The accent reminds me a good deal of Swedish. Welsh rules.

  • Doesn't sound like Swedish at all. If anything, I'd say the melody when she talks sounds a bit like the melody in the Norwegian language.

  • OK. As someone who has lived in DK for a while Norwegian and Swedish melodies are very similar to me. You're probably right.

  • Well, I'm swedish so I guess it's more obvious to me :)

  • Welsh is a language, not a dialect. Tut tut..

  • Didn't folk from the North migrate to lower Wales? Ok invade. lol Anyway that may account for the dialect. I know some dialects of Welsh sound like an Irish speaking Welsh. Must be from the north?

  • Neis iawn!!

  • why do you people keep saying it sounds gaelic and cornish

    its welsh duh

    cymru am byth!!!!

    cont

  • fi'n casau'r panddo'n siarad yn gloi, mae'n anodd i dduall, mae'n jest yn siarad gloi oherwydd mae'n cael pili pala yn ei bol,rwy meddwl CHAYG!(CHWERTHIN ALLAN YN GALED!).english translation: I hate it when he speaks fast,it's hard to understand,he's just speaking fast because he got butterflies in his belly,i think,LOL

  • She is singing in Welsh. It is very pretty. I love Dyna Chdi

  • this is the first time i've ever heard the welsh language. it's so interesting. is it similar to gaelic (galic)(sp)?

  • Well, Welsh and Gaelic as you say (there's of course Scots Gaelic and Irish) are both what are called 'Celtic' languages. So they have *some* similarities in grammar, and a few related words, but they're about as distant as, say, German and English are.

  • Cornish is more similer to welsh than Gaelic.

    =]

  • go wales i love this language and i am fluent in it!!!!

  • Really? I thought you were from Ireland?

  • ye but i live in wles and my mum is welsh and she has tought me alll i need to no about the welsh language!!!!

  • Aha, now it all makes sense. I used to get BBC Wales and S4C when I lived on the east coast of Ireland, so I'm used to hearing the Welsh language. Haven't a clue whats being said of course, its nothing like Irish.

  • no it's not do u speak 'Irish'

  • Nope.

  • ahh i see what do we speak is it galic???

  • this is interesting they say welsh are related to spaniards, the welsh accents sounds a bit like a spanish accent or maybe i'm crazy lol

  • Actually that depends if the name Tyler is Welsh. Or if it is an Anglised version of the name.

  • I have a little Welsh in me, but mostly Irish. They are both beautiful languages, both ancient, and they are both Celtic.

  • My family on my grandmother's side comes from Wales. She spoke very little Welsh. Seeing this makes me want to learn the language of my ancestors.

  • I had to think for a minute...my family comes from Merthyr Tydfil.

  • Da iawn!!!

  • Mandochia its not Irish Gaelic its Welsh. But your right in saying its beautiful language.Cymraeg yn fyw!
