  • OMGosh! I remember Skyway! When i was little (0>10yrs) and i'd go to Disneyland with my family, I remember seeing people in it! I always wanted to go on it but for some reason or another we never go around to it when i was a child. Seems I'll never have the opportunity now :(

Thanks so much for the video though! i'll try to find it myself next time i go to Disneyland :Db

  • i've never been on the syway i would've liked to it looks fun and relaxing but i did love the people mover i wish they would bring it back

  • So that is where the torture interrogation room is........

  • They did the same thing at Disney World in Florida. I always loved the sky ride but they closed it too. It was always a relaxing ride and really gave you a great view of the park. it was always extremely popular so I don't know why they closed them down.

  • I say it when I was on casey jr.

  • B*tchin!

  • One of the quiet rides that really gave you that rare look from Disneyland from the air,it's a shame that in this age and mentality that someone "thought" it would be "funny" to leap out from the Sky-way onto a tree, well it happened and the Anaheim Fire had to come in and assist this moron down and in a sense shut down one of the coolest rides ever.

  • What would happen if you got caught? o.o

  • @Mac4anatic you get stopped my the disney police

  • I used to ride that at Disney Land too. The part going through the Matterhorn moutain was very cool. Sorry to see it go.

  • When i saw Tommarrowland , the name btw, i Immediately thought of the place from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy , you know, the one that was something like House of No Tommarrow

  • Have you gone back since uploading this video to see if it's still there and if anything has changed?

  • @codyskoff Yes I did! I actually went back up at night recently; I saw a light on and I followed it (which is counter-intuitive, according to scary movies). It's all still the same, but I did try to go through the door - which was locked, of course. They positioned a cart, such that employees can see if you try to go up through the exit gate. However, the entrance is very much unattended and open!

  • for some reason it creeps me out.. leaves me with a sad feeling.. the fact that there are things abandoned in disney- kinda reminds me of dreams now forgotten.. theyre there, but gone all at once. :/ sort of like haunting your mind. idk.. i gess i just kinda wanna know why its gone. what happened to it? am i the only curious one? haha

  • I don't miss the Skyway as much as the Peoplemover.

  • I remember once just walking up the steps and then relaising I had taken a wrong turn. lol I have very fond memories of when it was running. All through my childhood I took many rides on it. The last time I rode on it was during our HS Band's trip to Disneyland in '81 (I just dated myself big time lol). RIP Skyway..may you be ressurected someday...

  • IS THAT A DOG HOUSE WITH FOOD AND WATER BOWLS????

  • i remember being on that when i was 12 ... right before the night time parade. It actually stopped with me right above the parade and had a birds-eye view !!

  • I always glance at this station when I pass by the area. :[ This video makes it much more haunting.

  • @kamibear

I know exactly what you mean! There's something creepy about it being hidden and abandoned.

  • i wish they could bring it back.

  • why did you not go inside?

  • @tonybones69 who knows whats in there.....

  • great video ,,so sad to see vintage disney go away

  • where exactly is the entrance??? i've never seen it, cause it's so hidden

  • When you say near Casey Jr. towards Frontierland, is it the North or South side?

  • I'm going to guess that the box at 2:13 is a sign that the employees found a stray cat and have been feeding it.

  • @tjoceasde Actually the park itself is swarming with stray cats. It's a cost-efficient way of keeping down the rodent population (irony?) They talk about it in the Cracked.com article "6 True Stories About Disneyland They Don't Want You To Know"

  • @TodReynard43 holy shit HAHAHAHA

  • @tjoceasde last time I went, as I got off the tram I saw one of the stray cats

  • LOL i love Ryan

  • NO Ryan, he meant gay

  • @Loflion You fail at being a supportive friend.

  • @Divarockz60 By the Casey Jr. entrance, in front of Village Haus, on the way to Frontierland.

  • Isn't the staircase up to the building blocked? Did you just sneak up there?

  • @PirateGurl121 The ENTRANCE is, but not the exit. All that's preventing one's entrance is a low chain.

  • @TodReynard43 thanks :) maybe i'll have to check it out

  • @briananicoledavis Best ride in the park..Vonroll built a great long-lasting skyride that still survives to this very day as ancestors to the Disneyland Skyway!!

  • I always see tht when i went to Disneyland but i didnt know wat entrance tht was too. I wanted to see it but they roped the stairway to it :(

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you for showing this! I've always wanted to go up there to see if they were using that area at all. But I'm to CHickeenn

  • How the heck did you get up there??? Did you have to get permission or something?

  • i remember going on this when my husband and i were just little kids

  • my dad used 2 tell me about it and i really thought it was gay they closed it

  • @TheRyanizer You mean stupid?

  • @TodReynard43 nah he means gay stop being so sensitive you boob

  • @skater88ate Dude, don't calm him that!

  • I love this.....even though it made me cry :-(

  • Just think this and Disney World were the brainchild of a one time struggling cartoonist.

  • I used to go on that an went to disney again an they said a child fell out of the carts an was to much of a risk

  • @josh2477 Actually the truth is that there are no records of any persons falling out of the cars. One man pushed open the door and jumped but no deaths. They actually closed it because it was too expensive to maintain and Disney thought it would be cheaper to just get rid of it.

  • thumbs up if you agree that they should reopen this ride as well as reopen the people mover... but make it like you're riding tron light cycles across tomorrowland

  • I definitely remember riding the skyway up to the madderhorn when I was a little kid. What a shame. Idk why it vanished though.

  • If I could, I'd tour America looking for these cool abandoned sites. Thank you so much for posting! Two other cool abandoned clips worth checking out are....."snack bar graffiti at the plainfield" AND "M-37 snack bar oddity"

  • @driveinnut61 I love abandoned places too! I was reading about Six Flags from New Orleans but they're going to demolish it :(

  • what was your point of entry?

  • where is this in the park? will somebody please tell me?

  • @EvolutionRider909 Up on the hill behind Casey Jr .Alot of trees in the way now.

  • I was gonna do this until I saw Disney put a merchandise wagon at the entrance to the station, and a cast member was working there. They must have saw all the videos and pictures online of people doing this and tried to put an end to it. :P

  • @Benstudio13 I know they kinda blocked it now! I would always ask my mom "What's that building?" but she wasn't sure. I finally found out about it from that site Yesterland :)

  • Can easily imagine turning the building into a little cafe or something like that. Just a place to sit, drink cocoa, and people-watch. It's such a shame. I remember riding the Skyway as a toddler.

  • You've got guts for doing this. I never would have dreamed of doing this. I believe that guests were able to venture up there during a Halloween tour a few years ago. Now do the same thing for Discovery Island in WDW!

  • 1:34

Should have hoped up on the fence to the right of the door and leaped to through the open side. (*' ')b

  • Thanks for doing what I've never had the guts to do -- climb up those steps and have a look at it. (I'm a season pass holder, and I'm afraid they'll revoke my pass.) I remember the skyway fondly... such a shame they got rid of it.

  • When I went there a couple weeks ago, I saw the entrance and part of the building next to the entrance to Frontierland. I wanted to so badly go and check it out for myself, but there were too many people watching.

  • Ok the music at the beginning was cool!!!! I was eating at the restaurant nearby and I saw it in the bushes. Its not that hard to get in the fence is not that high, its near the exit to Casey Jr. I bet that little box near the fountains has food and water for the million cats in the park.

  • how did u get up there? I've been dying to go up the stairs and see this

  • those are actually offices now

  • @SuperHotLarry Dont think so...

  • @vonrollskyway1 google it

  • @SuperHotLarry A friend of mine is a supervisor there in Fantasyland. Is bare up there except for some tables and chairs..

  • @vonrollskyway1 i asked a castmember in tomorrowland that formally worked in fantasyland and she said there are offices

  • creepy.

  • When I go there next month, I have to show this to my dad. He went there right before it closed and i the only one in my family that went on it.

  • they MUST reopen this damnit!

  • Where is that? Because I went to Disneyland and I don't remember seeing that at all.

  • @Whit451 It's to the left side of Casey Jr. train ride in Fantasyland.

  • So sad

  • whats this all about i havnt been there in a long time it seems interesting

  • very nice but although im probably like the hundreth guy to ask but how exactly did youy manage to hop the six foot fence and not get caught? or did you find another entrance?

  • they should make some use of that building like make it into a little shop and in that shop they should place a little sign letting guests know what it used to be......something like that :/

  • @rickster177

    great...another gift shop...

...why cant they make a lil gallery called "lost disney...your lose is our publicity :D"

  • Good stuff. I love this kind of stuff. The drinking fountains are still there, It still says Skyway. Sad it's closed, but cool it's still there, and cool you snuck back there to check it out.

  • thanks for posting this.

  • you so should have gone inside

  • I would have loved to, but there is neither a doorknob nor an open entrance.

  • wow they really fucked up disneyworld magic kingdom you can see the stations from the streets and they took out like every single good ride..

  • The fantasyland station in WDW got used for the Winnie the Pooh ride and the tomorrowland station sits empty but when I rode by on TTA there were sheets hanging on the side of it. Anyone know if they are putting a new attraction there?

  • no it didn't the winnie the pooh ride went into the old mr. toad ride. you're thinking of tokyo disneyland. The one in WDW also still sits empty to this day. the tomorrowland station is getting riped out soon

  • wow talk about freakin ABANDOND!!!!

and Disneyland imaginers are known for stuffing as much as they can in as much space as they got!!!

wow now THAT says alot when not even the imaginers dont want to touch the building!!!!

  • its called paying respect to a great attraction that walt disney loved.walt loved his vonroll skyway...rest in peace skyway..

  • uhhm i thought you weren't supposed to go up there..

  • wdwnut4life on wttm forums! fab video!!!!

  • that was a great attraction, it's a shame they had to tear it down. i always wondered if the dog barking was supposed to be the dog from the disney classic "third man on the mountain" that influenced the making of the matterhorn mountain?

  • the barking dog is from Big Thunder Mountain

  • was that tables and stuff in there? weird. i wonder if they still use that building at all anymore, like for storage or anything. i wonder if anyone has even been in it this decade.

  • Remember it well, was never very crowded at this end, though for some reason the Tomorrowland station always was. The "official" word that it was too expensive was bull, even amusement parks with small budgets have these. The fact is they weren't unique to So. Calif.; Magic Mountain, Sea World (which goes over the bay) and the San Diego Zoo (which goes over massive canyons).had better ones. Also, the crowds were becoming more rowdy (hanging, swinging, throwing) and it was difficult to police.

  • ...also if you look up "Skyway (Disney)" on wikipedia it lists structural support problems, lack of wheelchair access, and various accidents that occurred at the different parks. They must have thought why bother fixing it for a fifty year old ride (at Disneyland, and close to thirty at Disney World).

  • Very interesting! I love this type of thing.

  • I assume you weren't supposed to be up there. Awesome video though!

  • how did you find the skyway

  • of course you looked up.the remaining station is up on the hill in fantasyland.

  • its abandon means no one uses it or goes near it its not a backstage area my best friend works there

  • sad it's a ghost town not like the drive station of the SFSTL which was turned into a games area and has a few skee ball machines and a dance dance revolution thing.

  • great job!i was the last person to set sail on the great vonroll type 101 known as the disneyland skyway.this made me shed a tear.i would love to go up there and inside the station.i would risk getting booted out even arrested.love the skyway..

  • It's not illegal unless you get caught.
