  • AMAZING ALBUM!!!

  • "it's a far more sophisticated song than anything they'd come"

Baloney. You don't know what you're talking about. Try listening to Los Lobos.

  • Tom Snyder...

  • "ever since the watermelon" is a paul simon line -- he's written like fifty hit songs, the notion that he needed to steal one is rediculous

  • y would paul simon have to steal ANYONES songs?!?!?!?!?!?! paul simon is an extremely talented person and wouldn't NEED to steal anyones work.

  • Sorry people, but this supposed controversy in which Paul Simon is the villain simply does not have the ring of truth to it. After all, Simon is a prolific songwriter who has to his credit many extraordinary, deep, and tuneful songs. He hardly needs to steal material from others! Moreover, the lyrics, with many obscure references, are typical Paul Simon. And of course it's going to sound like Los Lobos - after all, they play on the damned track!

  • EVER SINCE THE WATERMELON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • surely it's a tribute to los lobos - not a copy? with new yorkish lyrics tagged on? let's face it, it's a far more sophisticated song than anything they'd come with unless paul simon wrote it. so what's the point of suing?

  • OMG -- this *does* sound exactly like Los Lobos!

  • imagine how pissed you'd be if someone stole your art? I hope it's not true

  • @GrissomLovesSara Or if there were false rumors accusing one of such. Who knows wither way.

  • @GrissomLovesSara *either

  • this song sounds like chicano rock. i believe los lobos.

  • I am a big fan of both Paul Simon and Los Lobos. I have heard the controversy concerning the credit for this song, read interviews, etc. Have to say I believe the Los Lobos version of events here. This sounds very much like a Hidalgo/Perez song.

  • I don't think Paul flat out stole it, like he really needs to steal a song from someone?

  • @theskycavedin If Paul Simon wrote You Can Call Me Al then he need help.

  • sounds a lot like a los lobos song

  • The previous comment is just disgusting. Paul Simon may or may not be an asshole. I don't know. And he may or may not have stolen the song. However, this has nothing to do with his race and to suggest that it does is just bigotry and I am ashamed to see such irrelevant, inflammatory comments that show such a lack of character.

  • The best album of all time. Every song is perfect. When was the last time that happened?

  • how crazy of Paul Simon just goin with it without giving song credit for Los Lobos lol!!

  • Sad for Los Lobos. The song's entirely too catchy. I might have to check out some of their music more deeply. This is one of my favs.

  • And 24 years later, no official mention of Los Lobos on the album or successful legal claim. So I'd take that claim with a grain of salt.

  • ditto bro! peace

  • makes me feel encridable well................peace 2 u all

  • the true is Los Lobos was not saying they have co wrote the song from the begining it took serval month not before the album begin to sale

  • Apparently Los Lobos showed this song to Paul and when the album came out, it said "Words and Music" by Paul Simon, and Los Lobos contacted him about compensation, and he said, "Sue me. See what happens." I have heard that Paul is a weird guy, but he is talented.

  • wow first time listening the whole album, of course i knew the two singles but the album as a whole is sooo good too!

i really love it!, thanks to everyone comparing vampire weekend to this =D

  • Always has been my favorite song from Graceland. Interesting to know that piece of trivia about Los Lobos.

    Ever since the watermelon!

  • Fuck Los Lobos. A bunch of no talent asshats.

  • agreed.

  • no.........

  • Paul simon and his peeps write such positive music,.it just makes me feel good,.like stevie wonder:):)

  • Supposedly Los Lobos wrote this song, there was a lot of controversy over it when Graceland was released.

  • Did Los Lobos ever release a version of this?

It does kindof sound like it should be Los Lobos doing it - on the other hand the lyric sounds exactly like P.S. Confusing.

The lyric is really sly - thats why we must learn to live alone (all around the world) - pretty dark if you ask me.

  • but the rest was all simon right?

don't car, i'l shove it under amazing cover and say the album's a classic! ^_^

  • This song is great. It's too bad the production is soooo eighties.

  • I think that's one of the huge reasons this song IS so great. Everything goes together so perfectly here.

  • Paul Simon is the stuff.! Thanks for posting this video!

  • Thanks for posting this! I was looking for it!
