  • i am a sri lankan i dont understand the meaning of this song but i love this song

  • @deanus75

It is a classical romantic hindi lyric. Meaning is Hundred years ago I had love with you. And today and tomorrow it will remain as before.

  • @deanus75 Here is a literal translation of this song:

Man: Hundred years ago I was in love with you; I am in love with you today and shall remain in love tomorrow.

Woman: For centuries my soul has been restive to meet with you; It is restive today and shall remain tomorrow.

    Man: Hundred years ago...

Do not be cross with me as it takes away my soul; Your smile is a flash of lightning in my heart. For whole life I have waited for you, my sweetheart; I am waiting today and shall wait tomorrow.

  • @orientlover1 THANKS for the English translation

  • @deanus75 part 2/2:

Woman: For centuries my soul has been....

I owe the sweet tinkle of my heart's strings to you; The splendid sights and the wild spring are because of you. My heart has been yearning for you, my sweetheart; It does today and shall tomorrow.

Man: If you say, I shall finish myself off in the passages of love; And lay down my throbbing heart at your silvery feet. You have always been master of my life; You are today and will remain tomorrow.

    Hundred years ago....(posted Lahore)

  • Can someone please help me locate a song? I saw it one night on Turner Classic Movies...It was in the 1940's or 50's, in black and white. His name is Raj Raj, and in the film he is walking the streets of the city at night, singing and crying, as he sees the poverty and slums...and unfortunately, prostitution. I read that he later commit suicide in the early 1950's Can anyone shed light on the life of this actor/singer/writer for me? Thank you!

  • @Taharah007 this probably 1957 movie Pyaasa starring Guru Dutt and Wahida Rehman. Guru Dutt committed suicide on 12-10-1964.

  • what is name of this movie??? plz tell me

  • The film is "Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai". Dev Anand and Asha Parekh. 1961

  • thanks

  • There's some thing in the mannerisms of the old songs. The word "Love - pyaar" when uttered in old songs gives a sense of prolonged lifespan. But the same word when uttered in new songs fails to give the effect of a prolonged life span. Now a days It's most of the times a headache.

  • I think you have hit the nail on the head! Absolutely correct!

  • Forty years ago, my lover used to sing this song to me often.. Now, I married somebody and he married some body. I don;t know where he is now. Well-that is life!!

  • Hello Sunlover786!

I love old Indian songs... do you know an old film with elephants? I don't know the titel of the film, but I like the songs from their.

A small boy become friends with elephants and later, when he was grown, he has many exotic animals... but than, somebody killed his best elephant... When I was little, I always cry in this part.

And I like a film with crocodils, an old film too. I don't know the title of this film too. But it was aweful too. I wish to find all the old songs.
