  • BATMAN IS THE BEST

  • Thx 4 the vid

  • Excellent video!

How can prioritise voice and then video with cos values on3550? I think it's cos 3or 5 to use, is that right? And how can I remark all other traffic to 0. So voice always gets priority?

  • Good one!!!

  • Hello. Which program did you use for this Basic QoS Tutorial?

  • Voice traffic (RTP Protocol) commonly uses DSCP EF, ToS of 5, not 7. While voice traffic can be placed in tos 7, its not recommended as such traffic is fifo when the link comes congested with tos 7 traffic and network control/voice traffic compete for the bandwidth if that issue ever arises it can cause outages

7 is used by network control traffic which includes link layer and IP routing protocol keepalives.

ToS 6 is Internetwork Control traffic which routing protocols traffic use by default.

  • You forgot to ''copy running-config startup-config'' :)

  • Its also recommended to limit the priority queue to 33% of shape speed by Cisco. If more than 33% is required, Shaped Bandwidth of the link needs to be increased along with the WAN service.

  • If the MPLS Cloud has a Policy to rate limit ingress data, it wise to also use a egress shaping policy on the parent, then use a child policy to queue out all traffic. The policy you defined wont shape all traffic.

  • You forgot to set the Bc on your shaping so the Tc is 10ms, and Be forced to 0.

Im pretty sure your going to introduce a lot of latency considering the interface is 1Gib, shaped down to 10Mib.

  • very well done

  • Can you tell me what IOS version was in the C3750 switch? I've tried the same config on the 12.2(46)SE and it seems that it doesn't work (i can't apply the service policy on the interface).

    Thank you

  • Really great video. Clear language and a good idea to use spaces in between the cli to give some room so that one much more easily can follow what you type without beeing lost in all that text.

It sounds like a low frequency noise in the background, prehaps due to bad grounding? Anyhow keep up the good work!

    /Mike

  • Hi,

thanks for the instruction! One question, you say the de precedence value (I assume you mean the COS value) for voice is 7, shoudn't this me 5?

If so, no VoIP traffic will be applied to the VOCIE class-map and neighter will be placed in queue 2 by default?

    Thanks!

    Harald

  • Yes default is 5, however on my network certain voice traffic is tagged to precedence 7.

  • Thanks Mr. Gamorm

You displayed very well practice, thanks.

Would you continue your help please, as you know more people around the world waiting you for more videos about cisco.

Will you post a video which talks Vlans and how they connect and work?

    thanks
