i liked the 9fs had one saturday afternoon out crewe to carlisle a 15 on passenger train 92208 rigth out of the works, we were run up 85 in places good locos , retired driver 12b 1957 man
Pity we've seen nothing like the steam trials with coal trains in the mid 1980s in the USA (Chessie System). Shows steam's up to the job today just as much as ever:-)))))
it seems to happen all the time for large things such as this.. i live near a plane wrecking yard, and a pilot went in, offered to purchase a plane that could still fly and got it for 3500 bucks. The wreckign yard is at a retired air base and he took off right there.. amazing!
Shes Running at The Gloucestershire and Warwichshire at the monent if you want to see she, but chech, with them first, just so you can avoid disopintment!
Nice Mate Shows How Much Better Our Old Trains are than the yanks 1600 and a shunter no probs and the USA Thing only 1000 and was outa steam lol 5* for both vids
@class377matt To be fair, by American standards, that was a pretty small loco. I can't imagine the Challenger class would have any trouble pulling that.
Thanks plead you enjoyed it! I Think Black Prince is probelry at The Glucesteshire and Wariwickshire Railway as that were its based, but does oftern visit other lines.
Absolutely brilliant shot Henry and great to see a 9F doing what she was designed for and then some!! Thanks for the upload. Ken

Great video-
The last time I saw 9Fs on BR was in the mid-sixties; two of them were hauling a stone-train in Great Rocks Dale, Derbyshire. Spectacular.

92203 holds the British record for steam haulage from a standing start: 2158 English Tons!
Imagine firing them? When they made the record run the fireman was taken to the ER with burns on his arms..
It was no accident. The firebed was 3ft (1 metre) thick & white hot all the way through.

Thanks for that info, 92203 certanly is an impressive loco!

Remember, that the "USA Thing" is only a cheap mass production locomotive. Now if it had been a PRR H10 locomotive, there would be a different story.
