God bless them and everyone who served in WW2 and protected our country
Ive watched the entire series and everytime I watch the end I cry :') god bless you Easy Company and the many others who risked and are risking their life... thank you
It's sad that Winters is gone now. RIP - Your work here is done.
I wonder how he would feel knowing the actor that represented him in Band of Brothers is now playing as a Vet who turns terrorist against his country in a TV show called "Homeland" ....
@Tarcidz Yeah, a show based off real people. All the characters in this show are real people who really served in this war and risked thier lives. God bless them.
My Great-Granddad and both my Great-Granduncles were in WWII and survived. But unfortunatally, they had all passed on before I was old enough to remember them. (The last to go when I was 3) But one was a driver, one in a supply company, (and that one was the second best marksman in the entire European Theater, I shit you not!) and the last was in D-Day. Never knew 'em, but I'm certain their stories would've been like a toned down (as they weren't front-liners) version of this. Thank you.
Everytime I see this it brings tears to my eyes. These men. These ordinary men were true hero's during extrordinary times. The youth and general population of this country need to understand what these men sacrificed and fought for. We should not mourn the death of these men. Instead we should thank God that such men exsisted
@jmpnjakflsh When I see such movies I feel we all owe these young men, struck down all to early, to live our own lives to the fullest. Live your life like there's no tomorrow...for thousands of them, there WAS no tomorrow
I agree Band Of Brothers is the best series ever made....But The Pacific is equally as epic
..81 is probably the year you were born..So you don't have a clue on how brutal the fighting was on those islands..The Pacific showed the horrors of war and how it affected the soldiers
To all of you limp noodles out there who oppose our Armed Forces, you better hope you wake in the morning to the boots of a US serviceman protecting over you and not those of tyranny and oppression at the door ready to pillage, rape, torture and murder all that is dear to you. Only when it's too late do some people realize what our military provides for us. Just ask the Jews in 1940's Europe what a guardian is worth. How fast you forget. It's sacrifice very few will ever fully realize.
Good and evil are only defined by the victors in war . "As soon as men decide that all means are permitted to fight an evil, then their good becomes indistinguishable from the evil that they set out to destroy." -- Christopher Dawson
Wise words from Dawson there, sort of feels appropriate to remind the viewers of this video that attrocities and War Crimes were committed by ALL sides in WWII, which ended with the unnecarry Genocide of Japanese Civilians in what was among the most unspeakable crimes in History - Fat Man and Little Boy.
@BelfastAtheist 1.the invasion of Japan by Allied forces was already planned, along with estimates of casualties, etc. "Operation Downfall" was the name of the plan. Two landing were planned on the Japanese mainland - one in November 1945 and another in March 1946. It was expected to involve eventually 3.5 million allied combat and support
Japan was already a defeated Nation by this time, the real reason why the U.S *insisted* on dropping (Not one, but Two!) Atomic Bombs was first to threaten the U.S.S.R and second to test the new Technology, hence why Two Atomic bombs were dropped and not one, the Japanese Leadership (Up to and including Hirohito) had already previously made Peace Ouvertures through the Russians which were *intercepted by U.S Intelligence, repeatedly* and consistently ignored..
Look up ''The Walking dead of Hiroshima'' and just TRY to tell me you've got any semblance of Humanity when you defend among the most unspeakable crimes of History..
Also, look up the time Japan ''Offically surrendered'' at and at what time the last Bombing raid was carried out; you'll quickly realize the U.S bombed Japan AFTER they surrendered, a 100-Plane Mission to end with a bang, as it were.
So, like I said - fuck your ignorance of Military History.
Your vacuous attempt at Utilitarian reasoning as offensive to anyone with a respect for Humanity - if Utilitarianism for defending the Radioactive Rain that struck Hiroshima for Days afterwards (Thus knocking out the Electrons from Cells, which causes pretty much immediate Cell Death) - giving Cancers to Thousands of Families, which *to this day* suffer deformities.. in a way, the bombs are still being dropped - the War never stopped, the Casualties still mount up.
If that's enough for you to defend the thousands of people who lost EVERYONE they knew, Families, friends, aquiantances, teachers, schoolmates.. can you even imagine to lose every single individual in your life? No, and you don't care.
I thought we supposedly went to War to stop Genocide, and how did we end it? By... committing Genocide against Civilians, like the Nazis - there's no moral difference between the two, both were wholesale slaughter of the innocent.
I am personally so happy that there are still people out there that are willing to share the stories and experiences of these brave men. The numbers are becoming less and less each and every day and they have so much to offer for as the saying goes; if we do not learn from our mistakes, our experiences, our history we will be doomed to repeat it.
Thank you for such a wonderful series. I liked The Pacific as well, but Band of Brothers was so much better.
When I was promoted to the rank of E-5, I was sent to work at the TRADOC at Ft. Jackson, and right before Christmas in 2002, I showed BOB to a group of about 50 young soldiers who had yet to be sent forward to Boot. They thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but more than that, it was the Veterans Interviews that touched them the most. I remember one whose eyes watered like a baby at the close when Dick Winters said the "heroes" piece. R.I.P. MAJ. Winters. Rest Easy......
i watch this entire series every december. it's a tradition i started almost ten years ago. there are two scenes that stand out in this series more than any other. the first is when Luz pretends to be Horton lol and this one. i don't know why but i just find it so amazing.
watching this on Remembrance Day. Especially the Remembrance Day after Richard Winters died really made me tear up and cry. Especially at the part where he said "Where I still live today'. I was always happy whenever I watched this miniseries when he said that and knowing that he was still alive, but hearing it this time it made me cry knowing that such a great person was no longer with us. This Remembrance Day is for you Mr Winters.
Agree with so many others: for me, this might be the best min-series ever. I was too young to be in World War II, but it remains the most important event in my life.
The creators, the actors, everyone connected with BofB have much to be proud of. Bob Fairbanks

I cry over his death a lot, but also over all his other men who are now dead or who died in Bastogne, Normandy or other places. Men like Hoobler, Muck, Penkala. But also men who died after the war. Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?Grandpa said no, but I served in a company of heroes"R.I.P major winters never verget theme how live and them how die
A famous historian once said: "Every single person who fought or contributed to the war in any way, at home and abroad, Russian, British, American etc., in the Air Force, Navy and Army were a part of the victory." We should remember that every single day for the rest of our lives.
I really regret the fact that the world nowadays is going straight to hell, we simply just screw every single person, kill people with other religions, political ideas, sexuality etc. These men and all the other millions of allied soldiers were the true hero's of the world. We simply take over the political idea's these man woman and sometimes children fought AGAINST. That's wrong!
Hopefully within 10 years the world will realize it's mistakes and start honoring these people instead of
I have watched this ending probably 50 times and it still gets me. I have huge respect for the men who fought in the war. Sad to see them die of one by one these days. Rest in peace and know that you will never be forgotten.
Seriously, best ending ever. Even the toughest man would be emotionally touched.
i cried at the ending of this... watching ten eppisode's its like you live ther lifes and its sad once its ended cause they al move on grow old. live good lifes and they all died heros..
From this day to the ending of the world we in it shall be remembered we lucky few, we band of brothers. For he who today sheds his blood with me shall be my Brother --Henry the 5th
In honor of Major Winters. As I am a WW2 re-enactor. I salute him and for his journey on into the heavens. If I could I would be playing TAPS right now for him.
I hated to hear of the passing of MAJ, DICK WINTERS. I hope many will continue to push for him to receive the congressional medal of honor for this humble american hero! My wife just got me a poster of an actual photo that Wild Bill Guarnere took and also a pic that buck compton took in which both signed. I admire all these men and their sacrifice! Dick Winters was an amazing leader and his men would go to hell and back for him! RIP MAJ. DICK WINTERS...CURRAHEE!!!!!
My Grandfather "relieved" Maj. Winters at bastone. He was a Captain and CO of fox company 1st battalion 187th infantry. Major Winters asked him what took son long we started to get cold! I loved hearing my Grandfathers stories. He passed away last November.
@martincool90 That's exactly what happened to General George S. Patton, who made a 100+ mile trip in two days to help some other troops (I think at Bastogne).
I dont understand? Why isnt shifty, guarnere etc in it? Even though some were wounded they could have been included. When he says "My freind Lewis died in 1995" that makes me sad the way he said it. :'(
the last lines are the most powerful lines ever written, also when he announces that the war is over they all seem to have a sadness inside them i think its because after spending 2 years together they are leaving eachother i would cry too i would be sad but i would be so overjoyed that the war is over i wouldnt be able to show it
Ending is just, I cryed. That is just the most amazing, yet simplist thing I've ever heard that could give me goose bumbs like that. That man should be given an award for that.
I cried at this ending the first time I watched it when I ended the show....
I never cried at a movie or a show but that was my first time!
The most emotional part is when grandson asked his grandpa: "Grandpa, Where you a hero at the war?" "Grandpa said no, But I served in a Company of Heroes!
"Grandpa were you a hero during the war? Grandpa said no... But i served in a company of hero's". God it just gets to me every time. Godbless you all.
i have been so impressed by this series that I think it should be used by high schools to teach history to kids. It is historically accurate but also would allow the kids to see how real people take part in conflict. Any of these guys could be their grandparents and I think they would connect with that. Series like this not only honour the men who took part but leave a lasting legacy which generations to come will learn from...utter respect to those guys currahee
as am I sir, I am thankful every day and proud to have served my country and been lucky enough to have followed in the footsteps of my father and grandfather and great men like these, USAF from (04-08). Thank you, the gentleman at the end chokes me up with what he says too, it really gets to me deep down, makes me proud to be free and be an american. . . .
4 years USAF, 1 tour in Iraq, uncles, father and granddad, Vietnam and WWII, all military service, from all of us, thank you to all of you and all others that have served, we all salute you now and to end of time.
Think of what these men saw and had to live through. Then remember that there was no treatment or recognition for PTSD - you just dealt with it and moved on. What a tough and noble generation. My father fought in France. His brother served in B-17s. Both are gone now but both lived through things that even vets of other wars can't comprehend. And they never complained or sought praise. They just moved on and raised children few of whom appreciated their character enough. God bless them all.
@PlinDeSuficienta I think with the shit those guys went threw that just to honor Carwood Lipton they re-write it to be "we lucky few". thats just how much respect we need to give these guys.
In my opinion this is the Best Film Series ever! For the first time i watched it i was totally paralized for some time and seeing the world with different eyes.
Dont forget the People who lost their lifes in that awful war !.....greetz from germany
We owe more to these men than we can repay them, they protected the world from tyranny, they truly are "the greatest generation". I look forward to serving my country as these great man once did.
very true......the most honored and glorious generation ever, and we are going to loose all these people who have lived through it.....our grandfathers and grandmothers

I have watched this ending probably 50 times and it still gets me. I have huge respect for the men who fought in the war. Sad to see them die of one by one these days. Rest in peace and know that you will never be forgotten.
Seriously, best ending ever. Even the toughest man would be emotionally touched.

In honor of Major Winters. As I am a WW2 re-enactor. I salute him and for his journey on into the heavens. If I could I would be playing TAPS right now for him.

from the hill, from the sky
All is well. Safely rest, God is nigh.
Thanks and praise, for ours days,

As we go, this we know.

RIP MAJ. DICK WINTERS...CURRAHEE!!!!!

i have been so impressed by this series that I think it should be used by high schools to teach history to kids. It is historically accurate but also would allow the kids to see how real people take part in conflict. Any of these guys could be their grandparents and I think they would connect with that. Series like this not only honour the men who took part but leave a lasting legacy which generations to come will learn from...utter respect to those guys currahee
