I found out that the book this movie was adapted off of was published it 1993. So for 17 years, the smart people left this book alone, knowing that it didn't need a film adaptation because either it couldn't be done correctly or the book was terrible. I believe it's the former. This movie clearly shows that. What I wanna know is why some dumb asses thought this was a good idea to make a movie now. A little late don't ya think? Especially if after all that time they come out with this.

haha its so obvious you don't know much about australia from this review. I am aussie and the movie is quite mediocre. The books are a common reading material for kids in early high school (junior high). So the story itself is very nostalgic for kids in australia. I don't think this movie was meant to be made for worldwide audience.

For australian film making the effects are quite good and its not bad for the resources we have here.

Just putting it into perspective for you a little bit.

@cameland Understandable. Frankly, it was an Australian friend who told me about it. Otherwise, I would have never even known about it, since it was never released to a global audience.

However, I think it sort of works that the film gets seen through the eyes of an American who has no knowledge of the book series. Granted, I didn't like the movie, but I think it made for a halfway decent episode.

It was absolutely hilarious when this thing came out down under. All the critics were being really careful not to say anything negative – same as they did with Baz Luhrmann’s colossal suckfest– because apparently giving the Australian film industry a kick up the arse when it fucks up hurts our film industry. Go figure. The only positive thing I can say about this film was that it was better than “Australia” (imagine an Asylum version of Gone With the Wind).

You know, the company that made such "timeless classics" as Mega Piranha, Sunday School Musical (which makes High School Musical look like f*cking Chicago), Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, and many other Mockbusters.

I would go back to Longbox Chronicles, but I am just enjoying this series too much. I respect that it's not everyone's thing, but as long as I enjoy making it and there are some people out there who enjoy it, I am happy.

They're 3 versions of the movie (all of witch you can see on youtube) but the only good version is the Recobbled Cut. That would be pretty good for R&R.

@blacksixspeed Not so sure on what's so special about the Longbox Chronicles. They're no more different than other good ranters on youtube besides the effects. I loved them as much as the next user but R&R is just as good. Besides, a bit of variety never hurts.

I recall there being an archive if you still want to see most of the Longbox Chronicles he's done before. Also, if you look on other channels, his older reviews of both good and bad games.
