Why is Lucinda so amazing? This song has been stuck in my head all day, with Indigo Girls' Hammer and a Nail.
I remember when I was going through the music museum in Seattle and on the landing of the staircase were two photographs--one of Tom Waits leaning against a piano, and one of Lucinda performing. I felt that at least the staircase curator knew what he/she was doing. Redemption, recognition, fabulous.
Does anyone else sense Janis Joplin in this song? Or, i guess, in the voice?
