Youngs focus more on the notes than on the sound. There were less notes to play back in the old days, that's why. Can we do both ? Well I guess the contemporary angular phrases don't exactly fit with the "seductive" sound.

No, Selmer Balanced Action. piece is a four star model link. He also played a tone master, but never traded his "ole betsy" once he got her (referring to his horn)

He was`nt lost...he knew where he was and what he was doing! The Duke always had great players and Ben was one of the best. I enjoyed this!!
