  • Diesel is cool but the noise would drive me nuts.

  • I love this FJ40. Is it still for sale? if not do you mind letting us know what it sold for? Thanks fot the fun video.

  • For an suv like a Land Cruiser, I'd go for a diesel engine, either a Cummins or whatever works. I would think it'd be required for such a heavy vehicle as Land Cruiser. It's too bad they weren't offered in the USA.

  • Is that a 4 cylinder Cummins diesel or a 6 cylinder Cummins? I love the sound of the engine. I can't imagine an early Land Cruiser with automatic transmission, even on a diesel Cruiser. Do you still have the truck or were you able to sell it?

  • goog Cummins 6AT...

NOT THE BT!!!! The 6BT came in the Dodge trucks... And has 10 more miles of stroke! Way too much for most light cars and trucks doing a swap.

    Cummins 6AT.

It's a hell of a lot lighter than a 1,000lb 6BT. Not as powerful, but you don't need all that power. The same tricks you can do for a big Diesel you can do for a small one.

Goog Cummins 6AT or Cummins Onan 6AT.

It was made to be a Diesel version of a 292 GM. It shares almost the same dimensions & weight.

  • @F0ckUtoob cummins-onan 6a is 3.4L. Chevy 292 is 4.8L. def not the same dimensions.

  • @V8FordV8 No, displacement is not what I meant. The Cummins/Onan either was designed, or by chance (can't remember) has the rough outer dimensions and similar weight of a 292. B/c it's not even a sleeved engine.

IOW's, a Cumins Onan can fit and has the similar weight (think for suspension setup), anywhere a 292 Chevy can.

  • @F0ckUtoob youre right. just read on a land-rover engine swap site they were made to replace the 292 in generators.

  • @V8FordV8 He is saying the external demensions of the engine are smilar, not the displacement

  • Nice looking rig. I like the Cummins diesel engine. Automatic transmission? I, for one, prefer manual. But other than that, it's a nice vehicle. I also like the steering wheel.

  • cool we repowered our 79 c30 chevy crew cab with a 6at great fuel milage came off of old ups vans. We also have a button for our glow plugs not to fast on speed but we don't visit the gas station that often.

  • these jeeps are awsome to drive in central america

  • Uh... Don't tell an FJ40 owner you like his jeep....

  • lol very true i will be offended
