  • (you know...he still didnt do anything with the hogs... ist that awefull? but when he ever does, I'll show you the result)

    best, Ilse

  • :) He has too many ideas for the amount of time in the day... :) It is fine. I did get some lovely shots of the pen in the snow this winter. Will have to do another video for him... maybe perk up his interest a little. Suze xx

  • ahhh, and quite cute they are! love this Bean, and Love Melle too, and of course, the hogs...:)

  • Thanks so much, Michael! This video always makes me smile. I drive past this hog pen every day heading out to work... and always think of Melle and other friends when I see it. I'll put you right there on the list. :) This little house was covered with snow today..... air conditioned hog pen.... lol

  • air conditoned hogpen.LOL! That started my day in chuckles, thanks!

  • Oh, you laugh! But the hogs put their sweaters on... lolol

  • There's some of these around here also, very difficult to find though, One that comes to mind is one that had a rock wall fence around it, the pen has long since fell apart, since it's only about 100+ years old;)

Thanks for sharing and bringing back sweet memories.

  • Hello to the MossMan... somehow I missed your comment and wow, what a nice one it is!! Is the rock wall fence still standing? That would be very very cool to see, even though the pen is gone. I know where exactly three of these old log pens for hogs are. I think they should be on the National Register of Historic Places .... :)

  • It was standing about four years ago, wouldn't know it was a hog pen, someone told me, and uh, it's under the shade, cool, intriguing, by a creek and moss over everything, LOL.

  • A hog pent house... lol

  • X))

    LOL.

    suzz:)

  • Absolutely beautiful mountains suuzee(and I know mountains). You live in a wonderful area.

The music sounds like Clark Kessinger, several times state fiddling champian of West Virginia, and his brother.(both gone now)If so, they were from my part of these great Appalachians. rdmonkeystick RE. garageboogieband

  • You've got a really great ear...it is Clark Kessinger and this selection is from one of the Smithsonian Folkways CDs. The Kessingers are beyond awesome! Very glad to meet a fellow mountaineer...Mom was from WV, Lewisburg area, and I live very near the WV state line now. Beautiful countryside you got there, just like here. :) Thanks so much for stopping my my channel!

  • come back for another view and another five, wonderful place!

(the mountain and the hills near my farm are similar)

  • It gets in your blood, doesn't it? Don't know whether you're in the north or the south, but if I couldn't live in the Appalachians, I'd want to live in southern Italy. Thanks for watching this video again, Pepi... keep those car sessions coming... I love them! HUGS!!!

  • I live in a small town near Milan,in the northern Italy, there are a wonderful hills and mountains around.

    big kiss

    Pepi

  • You're very close to the Alps...those are very big mountains. The Appalachians are old and stooped and worn. Sorta like me on some days. :) xoxoxo

  • Beautiful Country... great Video.

    Great Production.

    -Basement Bob

  • Thanks, Bob. Anybody who likes a hog pen is gotta be A-OK in my book... :)

  • The hogs have a better house than mine!! lol

  • Don't I know that feeling! As long as they don't drive a better car ... :)

  • Beautiful video, and I love the poem! These hogs live better than some people.

  • lol ... thanks for the kind words on both the video and the poetic ditty. These hogs would like to have AC in July and have their slop warmed for them in January but hey! we can't have everything in life we want, right? HUGS! :)

  • Beautiful country... lovely poem for Miss Piggy's cousin :^)*****

  • LOL! Thank you ... this viddy was made primarily for Melle's viewing. If you aren't familiar with him, go to the FanvanMel channel.

  • LOL!!!! That was hilarious.. but glad Elen and SisKeiko won membership to the Club... ^)

  • :) Melle and The John Deere Mowing Club produce some awesome music ... that last video is wonderful, yes!! :)

  • I can almost smell the fresh clean air !

    :-)

    x hugs x

  • You always make me smile ... You must be a farm girl, twish, because "almost" would very well describe the air quality around a hog pen ... lol HUGS ... watch where you step!! :)

  • LOL!

I don't mind the country smells, better by far than fumes from cars

    x hugs x

  • Suze with each your video I envy you more and more the place where you live. I know that here main rule plays old hog pen but I admired the mountains! But I hope that project of painting will be realised! :-) Joanna

  • I know you are a great lover of mountains, Joanna and the pictures in your TAG video were of you on mountains much more majestic than these old ones here. Like you, I love all mountain terrain and took the shots of the hog house from an angle that showed the mountain off pretty well. I always love it when you stop by the channel...you give me such a lift! HUGS!! Suze

  • nice video unique music nice cabin five stars.

  • Thanks so much...glad you liked the video. The music is fairly standard stuff for here in the mountains. Almost everybody plays and sings... very joyful stuff!

  • I helped raise two beautiful hogs. I think they would love this music, and this hog house.

  • Don't think I ever saw any beautiful hogs, Sandie...it's in the eye of the beholder I guess... :)) They probably don't think I'm too pretty either! lol Thanks for stopping by! Suze

  • I think they're beautiful, but I know I'm a strange one.

  • You don't feel strange at all. :) I do know what you mean though...because I feel the same way about cats. :)

  • I love this..it's beautiful!! I would'nt mind living in one of those "cabins" !!! I like solitude.lol..the music is fantastic.

  • Thanks, Nancy...so glad you like the air conditioned cabin. The music is from the Smithsonian series. Here where I live, most people play an instrument or sing mountain music. I love it! It's often raw and not entirely on key but it's joyous and honest and true. Plus I love fiddles and banjos so I'm like the proverbial pig in mud when there's music in the air... :) You stop in any time for a cuppa tea, ya hear? HUGS!! Suze

  • Pretty scenery & great music!!!

    *****

  • Thanks, canajian! Glad you liked it...

  • Very neat...did you pick up the John Dear Mowing Club Cd ?...excellent...neat how a european band has that ameicana feel and totaly rocks....

  • Hi hon...how are you this mornin? Funny you should ask...I just ordered all three of their CDs last night. At least I think I did...the web site was partially in Dutch. I may have asked one of them to marry me... :)

  • Oh...and yes, the John Dear Mowing Club does indeed ROCK! Do you know about the Nightlosers? Look them up here on YT ... they are a Transylvania blues band and they sound so lowlife that I think they live just down the road from me... Listen to SHAME and then BLUE SUEDE SHOES ... you'll love them, Brad....

  • But...

    Where's the hogs???

The music was perfect for this video, very well put together!

  • lol Check your PM ... :)

  • Looks like a great place to take a hawg break. Beautiful country, and the music is grand too!

  • Thanks, David. Come south and ride through these beautiful mountains any time ... This is how you do it from your desk chair ... go to the channel of svgklingon ... click on the Burkes Garden Ride video ... Kick back and enjoy ...

  • Took your advice, and several trips, had a great time and listen. Thanks!

  • Great! Great! I'll make a movie of the painting and put it on youtube when it's done. Thanks!

  • Suze, thanks!!!

Melle in his studio, don't know if he is working on the cabins, but I'm gonna mail him that he has to check this one.

  • I'll be the BEST tenant. You just watch me! (lol!)

  • You know what, I just think you might be the best one! :)

  • Boy, Suze, those pigs were living in "high cotton"! Thanks for the great music!

  • Hi Anna! "High cotton" describes it well. :) Glad you liked the music ... I think it's from the Smithsonian series ...

  • Talk about "Hog Heaven"!! Heck, I'D be happy living there...(LOL!) ~Tammi~

  • lol on the hog heaven... And on you living there...we can arrange this, Tammi! Very cheap rent, naturally air conditioned, cows mow the grass for ya... :)

    Gio

  • Thanks, Gio! I took these pictures last summer one day when the light seemed right. They aren't edited or cropped...glad you like my mountains!

  • This music is like March of the Wooden Soldiers.. wheres the 3 lil Piggies???

  • :))) It seemed like music that pigs might like to march to ... I can sorta see it if I squint into the sun ...

  • wonderful place!

    *****

    Pepi

  • Thanks, Pepi!

  • Have you seen the little piggies

    Crawling in the dirt

And for all the little piggies

    Life is getting worse

Always having dirt to play around in.

Have you seen the bigger piggies

    In their starched white shirts

You will find the bigger piggies

    Stirring up the dirt

Always have clean shirts to play around in.

  • Beautiful view around that hut.

Not sure I know what a log hog pen means.

    if you can please explain...

  • Thanks! It's a hog pen made of logs from around 1870. See the FanvanMel comment on my "Authentic 18th and 19th Century Log Cabins" video for a full explanation. :)

  • Geez mom I didn't know there will be homework today :-)

    J/k

I will check it out later.

  • lol Melle is thinking about painting pictures of log cabins and I wanted him to see the log hog pen near my house. He's at FanvanMel... if you like amazing music, go check them out... and then go do yer homework, turkey! :P
