  • sell me one?

  • is it possible to get a sega midi sound card driver for your computer? I want everyboady to play my old classic game.

  • I also would like to do this by download real songs we listen everyday as midi (if possible) and do the same to see what sounds like.

  • I'd love to do something like this!

  • Can you do this with a super NES?

  • @Ragnark1

Just get an old SB AWE32, they have similar MIDI Abilities.

  • @Scioneer I've got one of those sitting in an old computer. One cool thing would be to have real-time MIDI synth from an SNES emulator.

  • @Ragnark1

Actually, SNES is all samples, and a primitive sampler at that. Probably the easiest technically to work with since you didn't have to much about too much with control parameters, you just sequenced sample data. In fact, you can even rip individual sounds from SNES games as wav files. THIS in contrast is pure FM synthesis. If someone wants lo-fi sampler music, they either just use an amiga or screamtracker on the PC... 8 bit goodness!

  • @Ragnark1 Muck*

  • i live in colombia could you send one, i pay like via paypal or somethign i need one of those

man this is way beyond the coolest thing i ever seen in music.

  • you have to make some to sell at some point & please tell me when you do i need one

  • really cool!

  • amazing!

  • My dream is to buy this midi device.

  • you need to hurry up and get this marketable before someone else does. big money, big prizes!

  • Dude this is amazing!!!

  • glad you like it :)

  • thats cool, how many channels does the sega soundchip have?

  • 6 FM channels, and 3 PSG channels, I believe.

(And one of the FM channels is often used as a low-bit rate PCM channel)

  • This is a Sega Master System, so it has 3 square waves and 1 noise wave - that's all.

  • that is prooooo super cool xD

  • Truly amazing work, well done! I think need this in my life!

Im sure a master system midi cart would sell like mad, are you thinking of producing one commercially?

  • thy will be available commercially at some stage, yes

  • Will it work through the Sega Power Base Converter?

  • Thats amazing, bless you sir.

  • this rules, you are amazing. i just read about your Toriton Plus in Popular Science magazine (which is incredible as well) but man, i'm a huge fan of chiptune and this is just so awesome.

    well done!

  • thanks!

  • I will buy this if you market it. I was looking for this exact setup a few years ago.

  • MAN I AM SO JEALOUS!

  • TOTALLY RAD!

cant wait to see more on this dev! great job!

  • Thanks!

  • Are you using a music cardrige? Or just hard wiring the IC?

  • Yeah Im using specially written program made for this purpose. You can see the text on the TV for instance. The idea is that it could be used on any SMS1 or SMS2!

    :-)

  • Plus, hard wiring the VDP (of which the sound chip is a part of) is actually quite impractical - I've tried. :(

  • holy shit. this is awesome. I am interested in this for sure. Master System is sooo under appreciated in america.

  • The SMS was pretty huge in Australia. I think.

  • totally. i heard it was real popular in brazil too. weird, huh? it got forgotten about here. oh well. I want to utilize SMS power in my music some day

  • If I have anything to do with it, you will use it in your music one day.

  • w00t / cool session!

  • Thanks!

  • Hi, what sound chip uses your SEGA ?

  • Hi there, the SMS 1 and SMS 2 have an SN76489 clone integrated into their VDP IC.

  • Excellent work! Applies all your videos that I've watched so far :)

  • Hey, thanks for the comment.

  • sounds amazing master system go!

    who would have thought

    phantasy star

    wonder boy

    bubble bobble

    and now this

  • Excellent! Will you ever be making a production run of your interface?

  • Yes, this is quite possible. If I do make a production run, it will be in kit form most likely (pretty easy to make). But it wont be for a while.

  • Perhaps keep an eye on my blog for updates regarding this.

  • damn, seb, you are a MACHINE - it's embarrassing how much you produce! :)

  • Oh, Hi Rahji, haha! Thanks for the comment.

  • -]. damn, I need to come australia .[-

  • Look man, if ever you are in Australia, send me a line. Hope you are going well.
