You should be thankful, because normally a Mr Nice Guy would be treated with an iron rod in Dublin. The women you spoke to were clearly out of their comfort zones and had to force themselves to be nice. The Irish would demand that you write a letter to thank them for being nice, and not telling you to fuck off like they would have done to a local! That's what Irish people would expect. But at least you have shown that you like beer and Ireland, which makes you acceptable.
@TheExpeditioner Thanks you. That will definitely be the newest addition to my iTunes library. Great tour video, by the way. Makes me want to go to Dublin.
@switcherx the unnone people of the world must know how boring and depressing dublin really is. its actually crazy that a place so boring as dublin actually exists. their is no other place in europe that is as boring as dublin and if their is then it would have to be poland since half of poland lives in ireland.
Dublin has to be the most boring and morbid town in the world and people who live there just dont know life or there own self-worth its like a prison because almost every bar and food-store has arrogant polish security gaurds on them and everybody judges you for simple things like the way you dress act behave walk and talk its SICK get the fuck out and live your life . You cannot exspress your true self in Dublin because the culture is so exstremley different to everywhere.

I was in Ireland in June 2009. Not sure I would want to live there but it's probably one of the best places in the world to visit. The people are so friendly and inviting, the atmospheres are incredible. Everyone should make sure they visit Ireland before they die, you'll thank yourself forever.
Since when was dublin the worlds most popular destinations. I live in dublin all my life but how is one of the most popular places involve dublin. The only thing why people come to ireland is to see nature out side of dublin and through out the country, lets face it bertie did enough damage and dublin is half shite and half overpriced.
Except for the historical spots in Dublin, it is not the first place I would visit in Ireland. If you want to experience the real ireland I would visit the counties of galway, leitrim, mayo, roscommon, clare, cork, kerry, limerick, and all the counties surrounding dublin. And do not forget the north of ireland : donegal ( very rich in irish tradition ) , armagh, fermanagh, tyrone, cavan, derry, down, monaghan, and antrim. Dublin has just become to commercialized.( What a pity )
@jrml2009 Don't be afraid, we are fine with the English, just avoid the North, stay to the main Cities, Galway, Dublin and Cork even try visiting the country side, Connemara etc.
Contrary to what you think the vast majority of the Southern Irish have no problems with the English, if you do decide to visit have fun.
Hi. Which month did you go to Ireland? What was the weather there like when you were there? I would like to know what is the weather there like in September as I am going to Dublin in September. Thanks. =)
This video was very helpful to get a feel for the city. I've been studying Dublin for a while now in preparation to a lengthy presentation for a class I'm taking. I would like to show your guide and the end to give a everybody a first hand perspective on the city, with your approval of course. Thanks!
Question: I'll be visiting Ireland for the 2nd time in April. The first time I visited Cork, and the Southern part of Ireland. I'm planning a trip to the western part of Ireland. My question. Which is better, Sligo or Westport ?
Westport without a doubt is better than sligo. If you are going west, Galway will be the highlight. If you are only going for a couple of days do not leave Galway. Westport is a lovely town full of great irih pubs and character. On a scale of 1 to 10 for irish towns, Westport 8 sligo 3 Galway 10. Dont miss aran islands in Galway or connemara or Kylemore and if you are going to westport go the leenane way. nothing between galway and sligo. boring journey, no nice towns or anything.
a couple more questions: how does Scotland fit in with Ireland history? and wheres a quick-n-easy place to read up on Irish history and life? not a long book , but an honest ,easy read without a biased political opinion....thanks
I really liked the movie Michael Collins, it's a good background to some history. Scotland is not independent, it's part of the U.K., although they do have some independent functions, like its judiciary system.
@ancbcc Scotland has had a link with Ireland due to the fact that in some parts it remained Celtic rather than under Roman rule and some migrated to Ireland. Also, in 1609, Irish chieftains had their land confiscated by the ruling British for colonists. Alot of of whom were Scottish, which is why there is a large number of Presbyterians (and other Protestant denominations) in the North East of the country
@ISOSlover It was the irish in the north ( The dalriada ) that first started settling parts of scotland in the first few centuries after Christ. I believe Argyll was one of their first settlements. The picts were there originally. That is why scotland started speaking gaelic. After the scots ( the dalriada ) spread through the whole country.( By the way one of the ancient names for the irish was the scots.)
English is the main languae, but gaelic is still taught and understood in many parts of the country. Ireland is its own country. Northern Ireland is not. If you have time, read up on the history and struggles of the country, it's fascinating.
@TheExpeditioner The Republic of Ireland is a soverign nation. The little bit in the northeast is Northern Ireland which is part of the United Kingdom which consists of Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales.
@ancbcc Everyone In Dublin Speaks English But In Parts Of Donegal And Galway They Speak Gaeilge And Only A Ulster apart From Donegal Is English Owned Technically :)
@ancbcc haha,English is the official Language of Ireland, spoken by 100% of the population on a daily basis. Irish Gaelic is spoken by only a small minority(35%) of the Irish people..
No, quite the contrary. There's a ton to do, see, and experience. There's also a huge population of young people, which explains the beer, but there's plenty to do otherwise.
