  • Classic.

  • best scene in the movie.

  • Dean Stockwell reminds me of what James Dean would have been like in this role. I am a huge James Dean fan, and I see a strong resemblance. Very strong. Amazing.

  • what movie is this !!!!!

  • Such a talented actor. Great performance along with Long Day's Journey Into Night, Rapture, Paris, Texas & Married to the Mob. Also screentested for Michael Corleone in The Godfather but lost out to Pacino. He deserves an Honorary Oscar.

  • dean is my uncle!

  • This is actually how a typical Saturday night turns out for me. I swear.

  • Vynikající scéna z Blue Velvet. Tohle nenatočí nikdo kromě Lynche.

  • For a long time I tried to figure out what is going on in this scene. It's obvious that "In Dreams" by Roy Orbison is Frank Booth's (Dennis Hopper's character) favorite song (he carries it around in his pocket). The song evokes in Frank thoughts and feelings of beauty and love. He wants those things desperately, but knows he will never have them in his dark existence, and it drives him mad.

  • @spitt001 It is implied Frank has a strong emotional connection to his mother, as well as sexual. The implication is that his mother wore 'Blue Velvet' which explains his attachment to the song, as well as exploiting Dorothy via kidnapping to act as a 'symbolic' mother and wear the blue velvet dress. Part of his motivation for kidnapping is depriving another boy of his mother, just like Frank experienced. What you said is valid as well. It's David Lynch, and offers infinte interpretation.

  • @Gilsams BRAVO. excellent interpretation / explanation. could not have put it better myself.

  • @spooksixsix Thanks. Now all I have to do is decode Inland Empire's meaning! LOL

  • @spitt001 so true and well explained. Cheers!

  • @spitt001 Yes, but also, this scene was remade in the pivotal scene in Club Silencio in Mullholland Dr. where a woman looks like she is singing another Roy Orbison song, but, horror, she is really miming. The trick of mime is important. My take:

Love depends the belief in the self, at the intersection between voice and image, because our world could be shared. But sound never comes from vision. There is no intersection, we are always miming, there's no one else in our fishbowl, and no love.

  • Hey! Who wants to go for a joyride?

  • Lets FUCK!!!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID LYNCH,I ADORE YOU....

  • my dream is to be a film-maker and it's scenes like this that make David Lynch my hero

    next to Qunetin Tarantino definitely

  • great song

  • what year is this movie from?

  • @christian420mafu 1986, great year for movies

  • Candy colored clown....

  • dean stockwell is one suave fuck :)

  • NEXT! Get out of the car FUCK!

  • Two of the greatest actors of all fucking time!!

  • @c12akky

Always felt Stockwell was very underrated. Should have gotten bigger than he did/has. Loved him in Quantum Leap.

  • I could watch this 100,000 times until I'm dead. This is the best there is.

  • PURE ART I LOVE DAVID LYNCH

  • I love him, even his greasy spaghetti, chocolate malts, warts and all. Every scene in his movies is a painting that kicks all my art school's painting's asses. Made me ashamed to study oil painting. Should've studied film though, still wouldn't contend with this guy. Lynch is the sergeant

  • che faccia aveva....era un grande :)

  • "Here's to your fuck, Frank!"

  • This scene has so many emotions and feelings running through it. One of the best scenes in any film, ever.

  • I love this song!!!!!

  • This scene is so f*cking creepy, beautiful, and crazy, and simply amazing.

  • gives me chills every time...

  • The truly amazing performance in the scene is not Hopper's but Stockwell's androgynous lip-synching. I think that is the sexiest he ever got onscreen.

  • "Holy shit, you are so FUCKING suave!"

  • @SpeakToMe19 You are one Suave Fuck.........

  • I remember when I first saw this movie scene... I went out and bought a cassette of Roy Orbison's greatest hits... Awesome

  • I could watch this clip a million times and never tire of it. I could never keep my eyes off you, Dennis Hopper! RIP We love you!

  • R.I.P. Dennis. Here's hoping the best trip is yet to come!

  • This movie's like a bad dream.

    RIP, Dennis Hopper

  • How is this scene brilliant? It's just Dean Stockwell doing Karaoke?

  • @ForeverBennett You're out of your fucking mind

  • "Now it's dark." -Frank Booth

Thanks for the great performances and memories, Dennis. I hope you find your peace wherever you are.... RIP.

  • Rip Dennis, true legend.

  • R.I.P. Dennis Hopper !

  • RIP Dennis..

  • I ll send you lipstick kisses forever in dreams lover and I ll send you away a lover letter straight from the heart, Fucker. You're pretty lucky to be alive. Hey Pretty Pretty you're barely alive man. Look at me, the candy colored clown. They call the sandman. Sandman. Pop Will Eat Itself wrote a great tribute song to Blue Velvet but more particularly the scene involving the song In Dreams. Dennis Hopper, rest in peace, yo. I will always be a fan of yours.

  • Dennis Hopper RIP Never to be forgotten!

  • Orbison's interpretation?! Orbison wrote the song.

  • @CapshawMtn yeah, Orbison wrote the song in memory of his first wife who died.

  • Comment removed

  • @g1o2r3d4o5n6 No, he wrote and recorded it in 1963. His first wife died in 1966.

  • R.I.P dennis...shit man, what the hell is going on

  • I love him, Dennis Hopper R.I.P.

  • Ti sia lieve la terra, Dennis.

  • RIP

  • :_(

  • R.I.P to a true Hollywood hellraiser. Go to sleep, everything is alright.........

  • RIP

  • RIP Dennis Hopper.

  • RIP Dennis Hopper

  • I love showing this movie to people who'e never seen it before...and watching the crazed expression on their faces.

  • First time I saw this I was like " Is this happening"?

  • This is one of the most batshit insane - and brilliant - moments in modern American cinema.

  • classic!

  • the best bit about that, is 1.24, when you see the psychic pain frank is in. When you view Lynch's twin peak universe films as a whole, you realise how the drugs/evil spirit form possesions, have wrought havoc with frank. Hopper shows us the 'normal' frank, being subsumed by his spirit fiend (think killer bob), and the pain, as he comes through, and of the realisation of what he's forced to do. And the absolute kicker, is the lyrics by Orbison, so innocent, twisted to mirror his mental siege

  • @jparker71 very nice observation, i was looking for a coherent explantion as to why he goes through that momentary rage

  • orson !!!!!!

  • This may be the greatest movie of all time, I mean CRAZIEST!

  • Dennis hopper and Dean Stockwell are awesome actors. Dean is almost as scary as Dennis in this movie!

  • "Lets hit the fuckin' road!"

  • I think we all know that;)

  • dont forget thats brad duirff (chucky) in the silver jacket in the back

  • fuck where is the end !

    merde

  • Eraserhead is special in its own way. Lost Highway is almost as good as Mulholland Drive. And yes, Twin Peaks is really fun to watch.

  • I think Lost Highway is underated but I still think it's essentially a blueprint for Mulholland Drive and doesn't hold up well to its successor.

  • What an amazing scene, David Lynch is a fucking genius.

  • @BroadBandBeatnik YES HE IS I LOVE DAVID LYNCH TY MY FRIEND

  • @BroadBandBeatnik you are one suave fuck

  • @BroadBandBeatnik YES HE IS TY

  • amazing!!

  • a fine actor and a great contribution to the world.

    Good luck Dennis

  • now it's dark

  • 1:22 to 1:30 This is how I will always remember Dennis Hopper.

    PS: LETS FUUUUCCCKK!

  • creepy as it gets

  • THE BOY WITH THE GREEN HAIR!

  • Amazing scene.

  • great post, thanks. One of Hopper's best moments - its weird, he's not talking, not dancing, he's actually the audience for Stockwell's little routine, but the energy & intensity pouring out of him? Its like he's about to jump out of his skin

  • all david lynch movies are great this is one of the best scenes of any

  • The best scene ever !!

  • "Let's hit the fucking road!"

  • "Artistic presentation of the tournment of love."

    What is that about?

There is no 'tournament' in love.

  • Wishing Dennis a speedy recovery.

  • i love this scene

it wud of been cool if dennis stockwell and brad dourif were in this movie more tho

  • thanks to my friend for sharing with me.

I'd like to see this movie. Roy Orbison was a fantastic musician/entertainer....

Many thanks. Nice video~~~ I wish it was a bit longer, but I'm grateful you posted this. Many thanks!!!

  • Dean Stockwell, the miming 'singer', and Dennis Hopper were both 50 years old at the time of shooting this movie.

  • good movie//very entertaining

  • that was an awesome movie, one of my favs

  • "I'll fuck anything that moooooves! Hahahahahaa!"

    Frank is a funny psychopath.

  • Lynch is a GENIUS!!!

  • This is perhaps the best scene in a movie anywhere, anytime .... crazy!!!!!

  • Lynch is a very sick man - that's why I love him...

  • one of the best scenes ever...

  • Yeah...

  • Blue Velvet. Amazing. In fact, all of Lynch's stuff is amazing.

  • You wouldn't think that if you saw crimson pussyfart

  • don't be a good neighbor

  • All right, lets go for a fucking joyride!

  • A must see film, simply a Masterpiece from the man himself.

  • AWESOME MAN!

  • fuck he's suave

  • He's nasty, but gorgeous as heck. The actor, I mean, in those days . . .

  • Dennis Hopper is gorgeous as heck, not the guy who's singing, i meant

  • that ben is one suave fucker

  • Are you kidding me!

  • well what do you usually like to watch? High School Musical?

  • I disagree. I think much of Lynch's genius resides in his ability to create these aestically pleasing yet hellish scenes. Lynch films are like rape that results in a beautiful, talented child. It's unbelievable how something so beautiful could come from something so horrible. In the same way, Blue Velvet has this beauty which hides right below the surface of all the sick, twisted shit which the movie "appears" to be about. It's multi dimensional.

  • You're so disappointing to argue with. Do you have anything to say about the content of what I said? Any original thoughts?? Anything at all?

  • dude......this is the comment box below a youtube video. Of course I'm writing like a 6 year old.

  • i'll send you a love letter. straight from my heart fucker. you know what a love letter is? it's a bullet from a fucking gun, fucker...

  • they would print it out, write A+ in a red pen and circle it, then fix it to the refrigerator with a fucking magnet, you fucker's fucker.

  • : ) ive never smiled so much from seeing "fuck" used so many times in a comment. Stick it to that fuckers fuck !!!

  • That was one of the most well constructed comments I have ever read on YouTube. Nice!

  • NojBaba: HAHAHAAHAAA!! Wow, comparing this to, um, "High School Musical" was beyond even me!

  • my introduction the worlds of David Lynch and I was realyl shaking but I was hooked

  • this is the most disturbing and magic movie I've ever seen...the greatest lynch I think

  • This movie was so creepy. I love it.

  • Awsome !!! I :X Dean

  • I love this song

  • Another amazing work of lynch

  • HEINEKIN?!

FUCK THAT SHIT!!! PABST BLUE RIBBON!!!

Blue Velvet is a masterpiece, Dennis Hopper is a legend, and Frank Booth is a bad ass motherfuck.

  • is this blue velvet? i saw this a long fuckin time ago

  • Awesome movie

  • WOW! And I thought Quinton Tarentino was so original

  • yeah this made me think tarrantino ripped it off

  • And Lynch ripped it off from Kenneth Anger, see some parts of Scorpio Rising right here on Youtube.

  • my favor song in this movie . it's best track

  • Frank Booth will fuck anything that moves.

  • and he cant shut up a minute without saying'fuck'. XD

  • Best. Movie. Ever.

  • I love this movie to death & this is my favorite scene in it, but wtf is brad dourif doing in the background dancing with a fucking snake? what is THAT about?

  • Dude, it's David Lynch. Enough said.

  • I know dude, buy it's like, you have an academy award nominated actor like brad dourif, and THAT'S what you use him for?
