  • Fine music, what a shame they recorded it in a bathroom with the shower on (apparently)

  • This concerto is the TOUGHEST I've ever played, and I've pretty much played all the major concertos.

Personally, I'd like less flair, and less biting E string. But I found this concerto to be extremely difficult, so what can I say?

  • im not i violinist but i am a musician and anybody saying that the movement that he displays while playing are in bad tast and esp is stupid. You have obviously never played an instrument where if u do not loss your seld in the music u are unable to produce your highest quality. please pick up an instrument play for 10 years or so and then you "might" be able critique "real" talent.

  • Was being young, hot, attractive and clean-cut a requirement to be in this orchestra?

  • whoa he dances too. this is what happens when you don't get beat up enough for being a dork...unbridled joshuaness.

i don't advocate bullying. i'm just being mean. but one can tell no one ever worked to dial this tool in a little bit. he looks like a fool. A he can't dance B it's inappropriate and unprofessional C no one wants to see him dance like a penis-headed bear D who the fuck does he think he is "it's joshua's world! you do what i want [attacks with pernambuco stick]"

    way to be bro

  • @poseuresque You have written two of the most poorly worded and stupid comments I have ever seen on youtube. Are you even a good musician?

  • @mrsherman109 a better question would be if hes even a musician at all... lol

  • @ehhhhhhhhsmackkkkehh if you would like to understand what I would measure a modern violinist against, write me a personal msg. there are ALL SORTS of wonderful gems on youtube. this is how i unlearned all of the nagging mediocre pedagogy that worked its way into my technique.

there are so many violinists against which to judge mr bell as an un-artistic shortcoming to the field, more of an oversight due to a lack of historical awareness. not only mr. bell, but many others.

    thanks!

  • @mrsherman109 no i'm not a musician. certainly not a violinist. i only know by chance what pernambuco (vs carbon, for example) signifies.

joshua bell is a joke. guys... he is a much better violinist than myself. true. i don't measure myself as a violinist at all against professionals. if i can play a little mozart, some vitali, dvorak, whatever, that suits me fine. but come on.

poorly worded, certainly not. good try though

  • @poseuresque I agree with the person who said you have written two of the most poorly worded and stupid comments I have ever seen on youtube. Some of these other comments trashing Bell are equally absurd. This is one of the most magnificent performances I've ever heard. And it's live, too. All I hear is Haydn. Bell serves the composer all the time, never himself.

  • @poseuresque read my other comment plz

  • this performance is weak. i quit looking at mr bell-end, who also does look like a bell-end, because of his exaggerated movements, which are in bad taste and esp. unbecoming to music from this period. well, when i quit looking i still didn't like his performance. too much vibrato, portamento, and legato. it lacks, overall, a refined, differentiated character.

and i don't like joshua bell at all

  • my taste of music is so damn fucked up. On the one hand i listen to this, and on the other hand to Dubstep :P - yeah baby

  • Dear God. Why. WHY DOES HE FEEL THE NEED TO PUT SLIDES IN A CLASSICAL PERIOD PIECE???

I don't take Joshua Bell seriously at all...

  • @TheForeignersNetwork What in My blessed name are you talking about? Any "slide" you are hearing is perfectly appropriate to Haydn, but I still don't know what in Satan's name you're referring to. And, I take my Joshua VERY seriously. ~ God

  • @organboi No, a slide is not appropriate to Haydn because Haydn composed during the classical period. This particular piece is very classically stylized, and it certainly would not have had a slide in it in Haydn's mind. Beethoven was the first to make slides even remotely a part of mainstream composition, and it was even very controversial during his time (as was most of his music). So therefore, a good stylistic player would not put a slide into a piece like this.

  • He just makes the violin sing! I love Joshua Bell so much :D :D

  • I wish i could sound like him haha

  • @Grobanite122549 his mastery is truely uplifting.

  • yay <3 :D
