  • Now (well in the UK) our psychiatric hospitals: patients’ have their own room, bathroom with shower and bath - it’s not the 1940’s. However, people still relate to mental illness a mad lunatics, psycho’s who are caged in huge asylums. People also get confused that psychiatry is the same as psychology, this too is wrong, it’s a medical speciality; I trained for 7yrs at medical school and now have 10yrs postgrad before I can apply for a consultant position.

  • This is completely untrue – I am a medical ST3 doctor in psychiatry. The modern day lobotomy conducted by neurosurgeons involves two electrodes (approx. 5mm in diameter) using CT scans after every 0.5cm going down in to the brain: the aim being to target the lower medial quadrant of the frontal lobes, slight heating for < 10 seconds sever connections between the limbic system and supra-orbital part of the frontal lobe. They now use a similar method to treat severe refractory Parkinson’s disease

  • wot is lobotomy? and wot does it do?

  • @A5H001 its were they take a long sharp pick and stick it into the corner of your eye and up into your brain wiping all memory of who you were and all you can realy do is sit there and drool.....its quite horrible actualy

  • @Dnangelrocksify but y do that?

  • @A5H001 back in the early 20th century, it was believed that it helped mental conditions such as depression.

  • @A5H001 I kid you not, a lobotomy is where a doctor puts you unconscious, and drives in ice pick through your eye, and then shakes around your brain a bit

  • @RobProductions183 dude r u for real?

  • I'm scared to watch... What happens?

  • A side effect is her eyes would be horribly blackened if it was a lobotomy.

  • @IronicallyVague maybe it was right after and the black eyes dont show up until a few minutes later? idk just a guess

  • @IronicallyVague .......aaaaaaalright.

  • @ItsJustJasmine I'll have to find out about that. I know patients were often provided with dark sunglasses to cover the bruising from lobotomies. I visited the abandoned Weston State Hospital last summer, (there are vids of the place on YouTube), some of the icepicks used for lobotomies and an ect machine are still there.

  • @clintonearlwalker oooh creepy

  • @IronicallyVague that was the advanced lobotomy, the very first were made directly with a hole above the ears

  • you just tap it in it all in the wrists

  • so wait, she got a lobotomy? now she has no emotions?

  • i came

  • @StropewafelBWC lolololobotomy

  • def aint in the US or other western medicine part of the world

  • The kids are misbehaving give them a lobotomy, the wife is nagging again better give her another lobotomy!

Humans aren't intelligent being on this plant they are a cancer.

  • @icicicles Learn to spell before preaching your beliefs.

  • @boofster69

    Why do CEO's have secretaries?

    Because they can't spell!

U can be my secretary or we could just give all spelling check freaks a lobotomy :)

  • @icicicles The only thing your CEO of is sucking dick.

  • @boofster69

Personal attacks of sexual nature is a sign of intellectual lacking and a sign of a sexual identity crisis.

The irony, that the attacker attacks from what he identifies with, his identity crisis.

Guess we know what yours is.

Intellectually, I guess you've reached your limitation. :)

  • @icicicles I guess your identity crisis is your intelligence! haha jk man lol way to pwn boofster69

  • @dzpisx pwn, i don't know the word.

  • @boofster69 Own. Pwn is a geeky or nerdy slang formed because of the frequent typo when one means to spell the word "own." and means "to intellectually or physically dominate someone/something."

  • @dzpisx thanks bro <3

  • @icicicles Intellectually, i guess your assumptions are pulled out your ass.

  • @boofster69 lol hahahahahaha that was funny bro

  • Shutter Island made me wanna check into this. Leonardo DiCaprio did a great job in the movie.

  • @MissBlondeBrit

the same for me, it was kinda scary, the movie was also similar to A Beautiful mind, but the last one was better.

  • filho da puta

  • yeah probably right to be honest i just got it from a vid on here.

  • what the fuck

  • They don't drill holes in the skull! They would push an ice pick-like instrument under the eyelid into the eye socket and into the brain.

  • @TheHammerheart They did drill holes in the skull in the original lobotomy. The version with the ice picks was only invented to make lobotomies cheaper and easier to perform.

  • @ToshizouHijikata no the would peel the top eye lid back and push an ice pick above the eye into the socket then into the brain in till it stopped then they would hit it with a hammer and give it a wiggle then pull it out....

  • @buchan2 What you describe is the so called transorbital lobotomy or ice pick lobotomy. It's a method Walter Freeman invented to save money and time and even allow psychiatrists (like him) to perform lobotomies. Still, the original precision method, the prefrontal lobotomy (as it was performed by brain surgeon Watts and Freeman), was performed by drilling holes into the skull. google it if you don't believe it.

  • @ToshizouHijikata Yes that's correct, there were two approaches. The Transorbital approach and the Pre-frontal approach.

  • What form of lobotomy was it?

  • Wow! You can hardly see where they drilled the holes in her skull!
