Here's my issue with this and several of the recordings of this piece on youtube, including Eastman's: has no one ever mentioned to these folks that playing the notes in proper sequence is not the same as playing the music? Music is an art of evocative gesture, not the mere replication of dots in slots. And TEMPO; too fast to express the weight & majesty of the thematic material---and rush, rush, rush; no control of the tempo. Come on people there's more than notes there; there's character!
oooh! i played this in ubc summer band camp! one of the best pieces play... march in 3/4 time is really... rare? interesting? dk how to express it, but one thing for sure... I LOVED IT! :D
An excellent recording. Definitely one of Vaughan Williams' more interesting wind band works. My wind orchestra just performed it earlier this semester.

@iibw
Yes that is supposed to be an oboe solo, but trumpet 2 has the ques, so they may not have had an oboe. this is a fun song for tuba though!

Isn't 0:39 supposed to be an oboe solo?

For those that play flute, have fun =) Not easy at the end with the high 19th notes...

@Melly592 lol....I mean 16th notes :S

I think this is better at a quicker tempo, like vivace.

This piece isn't that hard. The only hard part on first alto was the ending with the 16th notes of G-F-Eb-Db-B-Db-Eb-F
