@bleward I have one of the old Tri-ang 'Princess Elizabeths' as well.I got it when I was a lad (sic). After seeing InteCity82's video I bought a royal train. I may put up a video of both engines, but do not expect the old engine to run so well - it will be given a service first and the royal train is not yet run in. If you have the money buy your Grandad a new Hornby one.
aup mate brilliant review! after weeks of looking i have just managed to grab a hornby 6201 from the royal trainset and its been in a showcase since he bought it new which is a shame but now shes happily chuffing round fennerfield :)
@EP1CSR00MAGE - DC refers to the 0-12V direct current supply used for much of the history of model railways. DCC stands for Digital Command Control, a new system which allows you to operate multiple locomotives independently on the same track section, as well as switching accessories such as lights and sound.
@danielpclark1 - they weren't. Unfortunately, the footage was not of a good enough quality and has had to be re-shot. It shall be uploaded as soon as I'm thru the rest of the backlog.
I'm going to get my first hornby set soon and i was asking for your opinion, Sould i get the royal train or the Virgin Pendolino? And i have to say, what a nice video!
Does that train have 4 safety valves? normally trains have two safety valves. Maybe the pressure in the boiler must be too much and they need more safety valves to reduce the pressure quick enough.
@lokoiutfftty - oh yes, the Princess Royal class and Princess Coronation class locomotives have 4 saftey valves as they have seriously huge and powerful boilers.
Quick question... How long does one have to run in a loco for and also does one have to run them in forwards at first and then backwards after as well ?
Just started watching your videos yesterday! and i was wondering what on earth was on your track! Then i watched the Bluetack video and that is a great idea!
how did you get her because ive been trying to get hold of it you see i have priness elizibeth but im not allowed to use it because its got gold on it and i just love her
@WestCoastRailwayBoy - this particular set was a gift. But 'Liz' can be bought in many different iterations (versions). There's the Pete Waterman special, where she's in BR green livery, plus at least two different versions of her LMS maroon livery. As for the class, there's Princess Helena Victoria which is also in maroon LMS livery, and Princess Patricia, in blue! All Princess Royal class locos.
@CoronationClass - breaking the loco in means running it round at a medium speed for 30 mins in each direction. It gives the motor chance to 'bed in' and the cogs chance to get properly lubricated. It's not strictly neccessary, but doing it prolongs the life of your engines.
is the suprise by any means the sleeper carriage? i got the set minus the loco for my 67 to haul and bought a sleeper for it! will you be getting the buffet when it comes out?

@InterCity82 What are you using to hold the track down? Putty of some kind? Bc that is a brilliant idea for that kind of flooring.

@InterCity82 Definitely looks a lot better than nailing or tacking/stapling the track down!
