Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Gerd Muller are similar in a lot of ways. Vastly underrated goal scoring robots. Their play might not be the prettiest but my god do they score a lot of goals. Muller's record is insane.

Gerd Muller just might be the most prolific scorer of all-time...look at his Wiki page, the numbers are absolutely astounding! My lord, this guy had an international strike rate over 1 goal per game, ludicrous! 68 goals in 62 games!....including 14 WC goals
In the Bundesliga he scored 532 goals in 589 games.....7 of those seasons he scored more goals than games played!
It's too bad he doesn't get more recognition....seriously, this guy was a scoring machine like no other.

the point is not how many times he scored but the average goals / matches .

VERY UNDERRATED!!! most young people talking about for eg. Cruyff, I WATCHED THE WORLD CUP FINAL live, where he destroyed Cruyff and the Netherlands.

He is the only player that matches or even slighly outclassed Pele, because Pele was more elegant, but Mueller was more efficent then anybody.
His ball control was amazing and his shots were hard and tricky.
If he only had been a teatoller!

Muller is the best finisher ever, no one comes even close to his goals/appearences ratio (517/547 not including his years in the US)
