  • I am so humbled, how beautiful and sacred a tradition for something most of us consider to be a hobby. I would love to learn more, are there any books you recommend on the history of our indulgence.

  • Hi Matthew: Many thanks for sentiments expressed. I have sent a note to you with two recommendations on books to read about pipesmoking. One is by Alfred Dunhill, one of the greats in pipe smoking history. Hope you enjoy, All the Best, The Count

  • Hi again, pipephreaks. I just finished re-watching this video and love it even more the second time.

    I miss you guys.

    Hope all is well,

    Crow

  • Hi: Many thanks for the kind sentiments, sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. We anticipate being back in future. All the Best, Regards, The Count

  • Hi, Count:

The prospect of you guys' return to the briarhood makes me very happy.

    Kind regards,

    Crow

  • Can I ask what music you have playing in the background? It sounds very relaxing, and calming.

  • Hi Davey,

The music is from the La Folia variations. I agree, it is very pleasant to listen to.

    All the best,

    Tim

  • Excellent story. I didn't know what kind of brotherhood I was entering into when I first started smoking a pipe.

  • Hi King,

Some of the most sophisticated people you will ever meet, people of taste and distinction, continue to smoke pipes. Our experience with the folks in the Youtube Pipe Smoking Community is no exception. We are all part of this great storied tradition. Glad to have you on board! All the best, The Count

  • Excellent Video Boss.

    loved the storys

    ~Aeris

  • Hi Aeris: Thanks. I saw Tim's Folklore Professor yesterday, she liked the video also. All the Best, The Count

  • Two absolutely incredible stories...I am a giant history buff I currently live in an old warehouse (converted to apartments) with all of its original cream city brick and hard wood floors, and every time I look at the brick I think about the original brick layers that worked on the building in the 1800's.

To hold a piece of history, either in the dutch pipe or the native american piece, has got to conjure up the entire history of that pieces use and value to its previous owners. Awesome!

  • HI Awesome: Many thanks for sentiments expressed. Your note strikes a resonant chord with me. I do the same thing you do, I look at and feel the brick and woodwork in old structures to connect with the people who built the places so many years ago. There are those who believe in a pyschic talent called psychometrization, which allows those who have it to see and feel the people who owned and made artifacts from the past. All the Best, The Count

  • Excellent video, Count! You should make a follow up video about how that Native American stone pipe came into your possession and the history you know of it.

    Enthralled,

    Crow

  • Hi Crow: Thanks for the support and sentiments expressed. This Native American piece came to me from an old friend of my family. It was found in the 1850's. Dr. Mancascu, who is in the Pipephreaks on the Road video, is an archaeologist and is expert in these matters, he dated the piece for me. All the Best, The Count

  • Fascinating! Thanks again for sharing these pieces and their history with us. It is truly enriching, truly edifying.

    Yours,

    Crow

  • Count as we say in the Coast Guard Bravo Zulu = Well done

    Chuck

  • Count,

This was a wonderful story. I am amazed that you have pipe artifacts to show us pipe smokers and lovers. This is one thing that is great about YouTube. We can learn from each other so that we can carry on the tradition.

    Best Wishes,

    Guillermo

  • Many thanks Guillermo, glad you liked the story and the pipes.
