  • strange that it showed hendrix and joplin but not jim morrison in the rock n roll deaths

  • Bowie is one of the few musical geniuses ever to appear on the rock stage, he wrote music that was unpredictable and always surprised us with his choice of musicians and musical directions. He hardly ever sang a flat or sharp note live and had an amazing sense of expression and rhythm to his singing style. You can’t expect a genius like that to be normal act normal or even dress normal, there is nothing normal about him; maybe that’s why we love to watch him and listen to his music.

  • I sometimes wonder how many concertgoers in the states went to those '74 shows expecting something different than the big production they saw.

  • @weaselsuit I think many of them were expecting the Diamond Dogs/Glam thing but what they got is what we see here, more of a Soul Revue/cabaret feel to the shows. As the tour travelled across the States Bowie was influenced by the soul music coming out of Philadelphia and acted on it there and then as only he could by transforming his show. A genius.

  • Before he mentioned it, I didn't realize he didn't have eyebrows. Interesting...

  • Oh god that girl in the beginnning had an annoying voice... -.-

  • Oh no!....me,me,me.....how silly naive can you get .

  • "We're just the spaceship &he's the commander" was the correct comment by the ziggette.

  • Man, i wish i had bowie's hair. it looks awesome.

  • My death was originaly written by Flemmish poet/Musician Jacques Brel, but made famous by Scott Walker.

  • 4:53 he forgot Jim Morrison

  • 5.22 to about 5.28 almost made me cry as well.

  • @SirStripes Very effective camara angle after 5:28 as well.

  • My Death waits to allow my friends a few good times before it ends...

  • OMG! he actually kissed one of them! ahhhhhhhhhhhh! OMG! :D :D :D :D

  • has anybody else noticed, David Bowies smile is the most infectious smile in the world!!!!!!!! Even when i am totally depressed, when ever i see him smile, i cant help but smile too!!!!!!! I love David Bowie soooooooooooo much! he is the most beautiful, graceful, intelligent, and talented creature ever to grace this humble earth with its presence...

    <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  • Hell yes!

  • humble earth?!

  • lol, u know what i mean;) it was just for effect!!

  • I am 100% with you on that one. His smile is Gorgeouse!!

  • There is some bits missing. The girl who says shes living her Bowie fantasy says ' i'm just a space cadet he's the commander' how true!

  • David is hot, sexy, and perfect. It doesn't mkatter what he's doing. He's such a genious.

  • Fuck! I love him...

  • someone please tell me where that version of rocknroll suicide was performed, i hav to get it...

  • It;s on David Live album CD 74

  • There seems to be quite a bit missing here. What happened to the drugged up kid from Phoenix who claims to come from the Bowie Universe?

  • does anyone know what song he's singing around 5:30?

  • It's a cover version of Jacques Brel's My Death. It was a staple of the Ziggy concerts in '72/'73.

  • merci

  • maybe everyone disagree with me, but I love Bowie's druggy voice on that goddamn great version of Rock 'n' Roll Suicide ... the part when he says "it lingers ... then you forget!" it's so touching

  • While the accompanying album for the first part of the DD tour, "David Live", is not, on the whole, generally praised (due to technical difficulties, rushed recording), the version of "Rock n' Roll Suicide" from the album is exceptional.

  • that's what music today is missing...an intellectual, eccentric, artist, brilliantly balancing the line between genius and madness...Bowie is like a drug to me. he makes life more interesting..thanks for helping me make this connection

  • "Hunky Dory" is a great album!

  • The American fans are so stupid.

  • @illloopdigga why?

  • this just makes you wanna go and hug him x

    hes so great

  • is this edited? The classic part when the stoned girl says "he's the captain" is left out I think? Also the part where Bowie talks more about losing his mind into Ziggy... ?

  • I'm not sure what's left out. This is the only footage I could find of this doc so I put it up on youtube. If you can find more, upload them please.

  • he is the greatest ever, so anyway it doesn't matter what they do or what they say, nothing's gonna change my world!

  • That part when the showed a few great but deceased rockers and had Rock 'n' Roll Suicide playing made me cry. *sniff* *sniff*

  • dumb balding north american ape
