Why when you insert your first clip (Canon 5D video) in the timeline your render bar status is green (preview)? ...if you set up your sequence correctly with your videos you must have your render bar status in gray color!!! Be careful man!!! Wrong set up!! Regards! @AndresDvE
Pluraleyes takes some getting used to but I like the tutorial you created here though. I have had some bad experiences with it. I gave it another try recently and it seemed to have worked a lot better but my audio was still off by about 8 or 9 frames...not sure why...I have the same set up except I was shooting with a Nikon D90.
Great video. So the Pluralise plug synchs the sound automatically? Thats pretty clever. Does it match the Zoom sound to onboard sounds so you don't have to do an editing? Thanks for posting.
Love this set up,so easy to add anything to this type of system (if you have the money) all you need now is an Electrophysics Astroscope Gen III light amp and then onto an f/1.4 prime lens and video in the dark for subjects such as Astronomy,Astrophotography meets ,Bushcrafting ( night/Stellar navigation) wild life video and so much more and what a great place "Scotland"Dark skies and no noise pollution.better than any Chromakey image.
The 5D Mark II, with firmware 2.0.4 will record in proper 29.97p or 23.98p. It no longer records in 30fps. So set your audio device to record at 29.97 and you will have no problems syncing in post.
What settings would you suggest for my independent sound recorder in order to make synch easier in post? You did say 48khz and 16 bit, but what frame rate would you suggest as a setting on the audio recorder. The camera records at 30fps, correct? I'm doing a professional video shoot with camera in a few days and they want me to record my audio independently of the camera.
@michelle1920 The key to good sound is proximity. The closer the mike, the better the sound. DualEyes means that you can put your h4n close to the subject and get good sync.

I have a Rode M3 (9 volt powered) and used some adapters to wire it to both my camcorder and my Tascam DR-07. The key component is the low Z to high Z transformer, about $20.

Questions - How did you configure the Zoom? (i.e., low cut filter setting, etc.) Also, how much did you have to clean-up the audio in post production? (referring to noise removal) Lastly, would you ever use the onboard mics that the Zoom offers? Could I use a lav mic in conjunction with the onboard ones or should I just invest in an another mic, such as a ME66/K6? Thanks!

can the h4n pick up sounds from more than 20 feet away without using additional shotgun Mic?

@michelle1920 It can pick up audio from that distance, but a shotgun microphone is suggested for better quality.
