I am quite baffled by these comments. He sounds great on the RMTV performance..almost exactly as he sounds here. Obviously there is some age in his voice, but he has retained his voice much better than most singers when they get to that age.

he was in his mid 30's in this performance...now he's pushin 50..this is what happens to a lot of singers reguardless of smoking/drugs...you just get older and can't hit all the high notes anymore. it also depends on how you are singing u can wear out your voice
