That's cuz Crysis isn't a processor hog. It's limited by GPU and system memory. At lower resolutions you can run it on maximum with an 8800gtx (perhaps not with antialiasing) but it's doable. Up to 1600*1200 it's possible to get around 30 fps in Crysis with a single 8800gtx on very high. But I don't see why people expect it should run any better. Resolutions above 1600*1200 or even that resolution itself have always been dual card territory for me if you want to play on max settings.
Uhh, Ai, physics, light calculations and particle simulations and heaps more are CPU based. the GPU handles texturing and 3d. The CPU is quite integral to the game guys, if you dont want lag then get a good one (especially stuttering) and get heaps of ram, then worry about the pretty stuff and get a graphics card!!! :)
exactly all they had to say was buy 2 8800 ultra's and you can run this game on full settings with a dual core , because quad core cpu wont do shit on this game especially the part when boulders are falling down the cliff's!
as long as your fsb:memory ratio is 1:1 or better havign ram running at 1066 will give you , uhm, like 2% performance? givin that the 1066mhz memory is 2x the price of 800 mhz memory (and it's actualyl 800 mhz memory clocked, thing you can do on your own) i don't think it's worth the trouble.
penry is the name of the new core-architecture, the new penryn is built in 45nm, yours in 65nm. your normal fsb is 266=1066, the new is 333=1333 up to 400=1600. The Q6600 has only 8 MB of cache, the new oney have 12MB. But don't care about it, your Q6600 is really good enough, no need to update the next time =)

I have a P4 northwood 3.4ghz, 6800 Ultra AGP, and 2gb of ram. The game runs extremely smooth on low settigns @1024x768 res noAA. I get average of 44 fps on low, 16 fps on medium.
Lol you really havent played this game have you. I play the game on my pc: Pentium 4 Northwood 2.4 ghz, 768 mb of ram and I played it on a Radeon 9600xt. All those specs are under minimum requirements and I got around 20 fps on all low 1024*768. I upgraded to a 6600LE which is the minimum requirement and got worse performance (yay Nvidia). I'm buying a new computer in January though...cant wait!
I had just beat the game 3 days ago. And by the way, the computer specs of mine is my old pc that is now the family computer. My new computer is an E6700 oc'd @3.5, single 8800 Ultra, 2gb dualchan OCZ Reaper PC2-9200 which I used to play and beat the game. I just wanted you to know that the game runs fine even with my low end computer

i am running Vista Ultimate 64bit DX10 4gig DDR2 800 with a XFX 8800GTX "no SLi" on very high graphic, on 1440x900 "no AA" runs no problem, n looking insane.
P.S completed this game in Normal in 4days on n off 3h sessions, I WONT CRYSIS EXPANTION OR CRYSIS 2 NOW!!!!, the last boss is easy n stuped MORE MORE MORE!!
I don't know if noticed, I'm playing the game on Delta difficulty, but you could kill people instantly with just throwing a drum barrel or objects at them. I tried it on the koreans in the generic nano suits and they too die with one hit by objects.
enable maximum strength then prick up a drum can or barrel and throw it at them and you'll instantly kill then. I even killed Kyong with one throw. I don't know if he is supposed to be a bit harder to kill. As of now the only enemy I haven't killed instantly are the really huge octopus like robots
it's hard to believe that the extremely smooth gameplay is running on that system specs. I have an e6700@3.5ghz, 2gb OCZ reaper and a 8800 Ultra but i'm only getting and average 25fps. Something is wrong with that picture. Could it actually be the penryn processor to credit for performance.
pretty impressive yours aswell. Mine is at veryhigh settings with the xp hack and with 2xAA on. I don't like it with AA off. I hate seeing the jaggies. I'll get more fps with it off for sure. Must be your quad that's adding the extra fps your think?
same here, I run @1680x1050 res on my 22" widescreen screen. It may be minor but I can't stand it. I have to use 2xAA atleast. But yeah, I was considering on upgrading to the Q6600 so maybe the games could make use of the extra cores and get better frame rates.

That's cuz Crysis isn't a processor hog. It's limited by GPU and system memory. At lower resolutions you can run it on maximum with an 8800gtx (perhaps not with antialiasing) but it's doable. Up to 1600*1200 it's possible to get around 30 fps in Crysis with a single 8800gtx on very high. But I don't see why people expect it should run any better. Resolutions above 1600*1200 or even that resolution itself have always been dual card territory for me if you want to play on max settings.

Uhh, Ai, physics, light calculations and particle simulations and heaps more are CPU based. the GPU handles texturing and 3d. The CPU is quite integral to the game guys, if you dont want lag then get a good one (especially stuttering) and get heaps of ram, then worry about the pretty stuff and get a graphics card!!! :)

exactly all they had to say was buy 2 8800 ultra's and you can run this game on full settings with a dual core , because quad core cpu wont do shit on this game especially the part when boulders are falling down the cliff's!

as long as your fsb:memory ratio is 1:1 or better havign ram running at 1066 will give you , uhm, like 2% performance? givin that the 1066mhz memory is 2x the price of 800 mhz memory (and it's actualyl 800 mhz memory clocked, thing you can do on your own) i don't think it's worth the trouble.

penry is the name of the new core-architecture, the new penryn is built in 45nm, yours in 65nm. your normal fsb is 266=1066, the new is 333=1333 up to 400=1600. The Q6600 has only 8 MB of cache, the new oney have 12MB. But don't care about it, your Q6600 is really good enough, no need to update the next time =)

Yes and they are of Turkish origin. But they are most likely German citizens, fully fledged German speakers, lived in Germany for a long time. At this point I'd say they're more German than Turkish and the fact it was created and run in Germany is another point. I wouldn't like the game less if it was Turkish I'm just saying it's retarded to try to insult a game developer by saying they're something they're not.

Eh they may have been born in Turkey yes, but say they have a German passport or grew up in Germany, a lot of people would say they're German. For me, if their parents are Turkish they are Turkish. Similarily if it is a German founded and based company I don't give a shit wher the founders are from. The company is still German! By the way they also made a German and Spanish version so having a Turkish version doesn't make it less German. I really don't care, it's a great game either way

Bullshit, most of everything they say, especialy Cevat are just lies. Most DX10 "features" look almost the same on the "emulated" DX9c, wtf? Quad-Core what? It doesn't help shit, difference is minimal. And that it will work with 2-3 years old hardware? If by that they mean 2x6800Ultras SLi to play on low 1024, then YES! Spoiled pricks. It's just advertising for Crysis, nVidia and Intel... Game is good, hase a few strong points, but I feel violated when I play it.

I have a P4 northwood 3.4ghz, 6800 Ultra AGP, and 2gb of ram. The game runs extremely smooth on low settigns @1024x768 res noAA. I get average of 44 fps on low, 16 fps on medium.

Lol you really havent played this game have you. I play the game on my pc: Pentium 4 Northwood 2.4 ghz, 768 mb of ram and I played it on a Radeon 9600xt. All those specs are under minimum requirements and I got around 20 fps on all low 1024*768. I upgraded to a 6600LE which is the minimum requirement and got worse performance (yay Nvidia). I'm buying a new computer in January though...cant wait!

I had just beat the game 3 days ago. And by the way, the computer specs of mine is my old pc that is now the family computer. My new computer is an E6700 oc'd @3.5, single 8800 Ultra, 2gb dualchan OCZ Reaper PC2-9200 which I used to play and beat the game. I just wanted you to know that the game runs fine even with my low end computer

lol i hav a AMD AM2 6000+ 3.0Ghz 1000FSB 2mb cache, uses like peak 85% n average of 47%,
i am running Vista Ultimate 64bit DX10 4gig DDR2 800 with a XFX 8800GTX "no SLi" on very high graphic, on 1440x900 "no AA" runs no problem, n looking insane.
P.S completed this game in Normal in 4days on n off 3h sessions, I WONT CRYSIS EXPANTION OR CRYSIS 2 NOW!!!!, the last boss is easy n stuped MORE MORE MORE!!

I don't know if noticed, I'm playing the game on Delta difficulty, but you could kill people instantly with just throwing a drum barrel or objects at them. I tried it on the koreans in the generic nano suits and they too die with one hit by objects.

enable maximum strength then prick up a drum can or barrel and throw it at them and you'll instantly kill then. I even killed Kyong with one throw. I don't know if he is supposed to be a bit harder to kill. As of now the only enemy I haven't killed instantly are the really huge octopus like robots

it's hard to believe that the extremely smooth gameplay is running on that system specs. I have an e6700@3.5ghz, 2gb OCZ reaper and a 8800 Ultra but i'm only getting and average 25fps. Something is wrong with that picture. Could it actually be the penryn processor to credit for performance.

The Penryn has 12 Mb cache, so it will be performing better at same clock frequency.
I have a Q6600 clocked to 3.6 GHz and a 8800 GTX running stock and 2 GB PC 6400 and i run the game at very high but without AA at 35-60 FPS.

pretty impressive yours aswell. Mine is at veryhigh settings with the xp hack and with 2xAA on. I don't like it with AA off. I hate seeing the jaggies. I'll get more fps with it off for sure. Must be your quad that's adding the extra fps your think?

same here, I run @1680x1050 res on my 22" widescreen screen. It may be minor but I can't stand it. I have to use 2xAA atleast. But yeah, I was considering on upgrading to the Q6600 so maybe the games could make use of the extra cores and get better frame rates.

LOOL u dont even need a quad core its just marketing shit, i got a quad core 6750 and the game only needs about 80% of the full cpu capacity (ok i overclocked it a bit to 3,4GhZ/core) but thats not importatnt, this game needs a far more stronger graphics card than an extreme fast cpu!!!
